OTTUMWA CAMPUS
Student Senate
The object of Student Senate is to represent study body ideas and concerns through active
leadership. Membership is open to all Indian Hills students and those students taking classes
through a cooperative program. The Student Senate is charged with planning activities and
programs to meet the diverse needs of the student population. As well, the Student Senate
oversees the activities of all clubs recognized as active on the Indian Hills campus.

The Academy
Highly motivated students will find that the Arts and Sciences Academy program is an excellent
opportunity to share experiences with people who have similar interests. Specialized classes,
field trips, guest speakers, discussion groups, seminars, and honors banquets highlight this
distinguished program.

Allies for Equality
The purpose of the LGBT Pride is to provide a safe, supportive environment for LGBT students,
as well as heterosexual students who are in favor of gay rights. Specific goals of the LGBT Pride
include educating the public on related social issues and providing a clear alternative to any and
all covert and/or overt bigotry on campus or in the community. Membership is open to all
enrolled students who identify themselves as homosexual, bisexual, or transgendered.
Membership is also open to all students who are heterosexual but advocate the rights of the
aforementioned minority groups.

Aero Club
The IHCC Aero Club’s intent is to provide opportunities for its members to explore the aviation
world outside of school hours. Our mission is to expand the knowledge of aviation in ourselves
and throughout the community by demonstrating safety and discovering new horizons in
operation and maintenance.

Art Club
The purpose of the Art club is to provide opportunities for students to experience various area of
art. Specific goals of the Art Club are to create more interest in and understanding art and the
visual and performing arts, assist students in establishment of occupational and creative goals,
strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work, and encourage scholarship.
The Art Club is an integral part of the instructional, visual and performing arts programs at
Indian Hills.

Athletic Training Club
The club exposes students to a wide range of academic and clinical experiences, settings, and
professionals representing a broad spectrum of medical health fields. As well, the club provides
members with an appreciation for the physical, psychological, and emotional demands of
physical and active individuals. They strive to develop the critical thinking, decision-making,
and communication skills necessary for success in the field of athletic training. Membership is
open to students enrolled in the Athletic Training program. Scholarship funds are available.

Automotive Collision Technology Club
The purpose of this club is to be an additional resource for technical and educational services to

The purpose of the Office Assistants is to be involved in the community and campus service. The
Office Assistant club is to be advocates for the programs of Administrative Assistant and
Accounting Assistant. To promote professionalism, retention and personal development among

The CLS Club has been established to advocate the profession of laboratory sciences, as well as
the IHCC Clinical Laboratory Sciences program, and the college as a whole. Its membership
promotes professionalism, provides scholarship, and is involved in community service. The club
promotes personal development, as well as encourages the academic success of its peers.
Members must be enrolled in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences program. Scholarship funds are

Computer Networking Club
The object of the CNS Club is to represent the membership’s ideas and interests through any
extracurricular activities and to give each other support and knowledge from one another within
the Computer Systems Networking and Security field. Memberships are open to students

This club’s purpose is to enhance the computer student’s learning experience through such
activities as corporate contact, competitive events and social functions. Membership is open to

Criminal Justice
The objective of the Criminal Justice Club is to provide an outlet for the interests of students
planning on a career in the field of law enforcement. The club instills a sense of professionalism
and unity in its members. Members of the Criminal Justice Club must be enrolled in the Criminal

Culinary Arts Club
The purpose of the club is to develop leadership and organizational skills for its membership,
promote pride in and awareness of the Culinary Arts as a profession, provide students with the
opportunity to gain practical experience in a variety of culinary fields, and to motivate its
members by allowing them to pursue areas of group interest in the Culinary Arts field. The club
competes within the ACF and helps certify its membership with the ACF. All members must be
associated with the Culinary Arts program. Scholarship funds are available.

Diesel Power Systems Club
The Diesel Power Systems Club promotes and engages in technical and educational services of
diesel power to provide an additional resource for its membership, in addition to recognition and
support. Membership is open to students enrolled in the Diesel Power System program.

Digital Forensics
The mission of the Digital Forensics Club is to increase awareness of the Digital Forensics field
to the public through open fundraisers, extracurricular activities, and events. Members must be

Disc Golf
The Disc Golf Club encourages members to be ambassadors for the sport of disc golf, which
includes (a) learning and understanding the rules and etiquette of the sport, per the PDGA; (b)
respecting the campus and its 18-hole course by abiding by the posted rules and picking up trash
whenever possible; and (c) developing teamwork skills that foster a “community” mindset with
regard to the sport. Membership is open to any student carrying a minimum of 6 credit hours.

Drama Club
The purpose of the IHCC Drama Club is to provide opportunities for students to experience
various fields of drama. Specific goals are to create more interest in and understanding of drama
and the visual/performing arts, assist students in the establishment of occupational and creative
goals, strengthen the confidence of the students in themselves and their work, and encourage
scholarship. Activities include field trips, sponsoring invited speakers, discussing recent dramatic
events, and participating in ongoing projects established by members of the Drama Club.

The objectives of the ECE Club are to be involved in community and campus service, advocate

The purpose of the EMS Club is to support emergency medical services in the IHCC regional
area through development of public safety initiatives, enhancement of EMS resources, and the
provision of educational opportunities with a high code of ethical standards among the EMS

The purpose of the E-Tech Club is to be an additional resource for technical and educational

Its mission is to expand mechanisms to provide information regarding Electronic Engineering
Technology and to provide recognition and support for E-Tech Club members. Scholarship funds

Jazz Band
The ensemble allows students to perform an exciting array of unique vocal and instrumental
versions of jazz, rhythm, and blues, Latin and popular tunes. Much of the music for the group is
arranged specifically for current members. Previous experience in jazz or improvisation is NOT
a requirement. The band performs several times a year for various college and community
functions. Scholarship funds are available.

Horticulture Club
The purpose of the Horticulture Club is to promote opportunities in the Landscape and Turfgrass
industry along with providing educational activities engaging the community while staying

HOSA Club (Future Health Professionals)
The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill
competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral
part of the Health Science Education instructional program. The mission of HOSA is to enhance
the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge,
skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the
student meet the needs of the health care community.

Multicultural Club
The objective of the Multicultural Club is to promote cultural, spiritual, social and educational
growth through diversity activities and volunteerism. The club’s mission is to provide

and activities that will add cultural appreciation to the Indian Hills experience, and to create
associations with other students regardless of their background. Membership is open to all

New Life Christian Fellowship
New Life Campus Fellowship (NLCF) is an interdenominational student club focused on
connecting students with one another as we seek God and serve the community together. We

Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is a nationally recognized honor society. Students are eligible for membership
if they have completed 12 hours of course work leading to an associate degree program and have
a GPA of 3.5 and above. A membership fee is required.

The Renewable Energy Club was established to assist members with technical and educational
resources to improve its members’ skills and to be a channel between employers and students.

Robotics/SkillsUSA Club
The Robotics/SkillsUSA club promotes professionalism and Robotics/Automation in the
manufacturing field. The students experience hands-on activity, network with potential
employers, compete in state and national contests, tour production facilities and attend
presentations pertaining to cutting edge technology in the automation field. The club provides the
means for its members to demonstrate the high caliber of knowledge gained at IHCC, thereby
increasing their marketability to potential employers. Membership is open to enrolled students

The objective of the Skeleton Crew Club is to advocate the profession of Radiologic

Mission of Mercy wherever it is held in the State of Iowa each year.

Warrior Basketball Band
Made up of members of the Indian Hills Jazz Band, the Warrior Basketball band performs at all
