As you can see through the Des Moines Embassy Club China trip photos, we celebrated the
35th year of China-US Diplomatic relations from Guangzhou to Beijing in great style.
The trip began with a kick-off banquet in San Francisco hosted by Mayor Ed and spouse
Anita Lee with presentation from the City of San Francisco of a Certificate of Honor to the
Club. Enough in itself little did we realize the sights and flavors we were about to savor.
As guests of several Chinese governmental and business
associations, we cooked, toasted, spoke and generally shared
what it was like to cook for now President Xi Jinping upon his
momentous 2012 visit to Iowa.
The DMEC is already sensitive to
the needs of International guests
and the frequent location for their
entertainment, but in the future
we will be uniquely equipped to
better serve members and their
Asian guests needs.
All for now on China but once we
get some editing done, we are
going to have a full presentation
for the membership on our Chef
diplomacy efforts.
