Stewart Woodward 303-665-9438 President’s Message - February, 2015 My Holidays were probably like yours, filled with family, friends, “colds” and skiing. But hopefully yours did not include a concussion from falling off the Mountain Chief lift at Copper Mountain. First significant accident I have had in 47 years of skiing and fortunately no lasting damage……with the possible exception of my pride :). I am so glad I was wearing a helmet and highly recommend helmets for both biking and skiing…certainly saved what is left of my old brain. On the bright side, I was with my step daughter, Theone and her fiancé Bobby, who took photos of my “free” toboggan ride down the hill. My ski patrol ride down was very smooth as Bill asked me over and over again to remember the color Blue, which was the test word he gave me at the top. I passed. On a club note, the board is working on a policy statement covering the return of trip deposits and payments in the event you cannot make a trip. Trip leaders often must pay in advance for lodging, lift tickets, etc. so giving full refunds may be problematic depending on the financial commitments for a particular trip. In general the Board agreed that the club cannot absorb big loses on trips and we cannot expect our hard working trip leaders to call around to find a replacement so you or me are guaranteed 100% refunds on every trip. Stay tuned for the final version of our club refund policy and please remain kind and courteous to our trip leaders.
