CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Adult EDUCATION G 2015 N I R SP PROGRAM GUIDE www.schalmont.org “Thank you for offering the Adult Education Program. It is affordable and has a wonderful variety of class options.” —Adult Education student, Fall 2013 ADULT EDUCATION Children aren’t the only ones who benefit from quality local schools. Last fall, nearly 500 adults made the most of their school district by registering for classes through the Schalmont Central School District Adult Education Program. Schalmont schools are open to adults in the community who want to have some healthy fun, learn new skills or creatively express themselves in the areas of: • Creative Arts • Food & Drink • Health & Fitness • Life Skills • Technology Most classes are offered at a minimal fee, and several are discounted or free for resident senior citizens. These fees allow the program to be self-sustaining (i.e., classes are not included in the annual school budget). You must register for all programs even though there may be no cost for the course. A registration form is printed in this brochure. Registration occurs on a ‘first-come, firstserved’ basis, so register early. Once your check is received, you are considered registered. You will not receive a registration confirmation, but you will be notified if a class is full or canceled. The Adult Education Program is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older. However, the age threshold may vary as indicated in course descriptions. For example, the defensive driving course is open to children as young as 16 and some courses are restricted to individuals 21 years of age and older. Limited exceptions may also be made at the instructor’s discretion. See the new Kid’s Corner on page 14. If you have any questions, contact Donna Notar in the Adult Education Office, 355-9200, ext. 4005, or [email protected]. Schalmont Central School District is not responsible for any injuries incurred during activities through the Adult Education Program. Any ensuing expenses will be borne by the participant. Schalmont offers employment and educational opportunities without regard to sex, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, religion, national origin, political affiliation, age, marital status, military status, disability or use of a recognized guide dog, hearing dog or service dog.
