This amazing CD presents a previously unreleased
performance by Chet Baker in a trio and quartet
formats with fellow jazz great Duke Jordan, plus
Danish bassist Jesper Lundgaard, and on most
tracks, drummer Leo Mitchell. Live recordings by
this trio were made at the New Morning Club in Paris, France, on November 24, 1983, and at George’s
Jazz Club in Arnhem, Holland, on November 28 of
the same year, both of which were subsequently
issued on CD.
However, this is the first time the November 25 set
in Lauwe, Belgium, is issued in any format. Among
its many highlights, it includes a beautiful instrumental version of “All the Things You Are”, which
is the only existing version of the tune by Chet and
Duke Jordan together.

HORACE SILVER
FURTHER RECORDS
THE 1973 CONCERTS: Live In Finland, Boston + New York
ALL TRACKS PREVIOUSLY UNISSUED !!
This release presents all known material by a formation of the Horace Silver Quintet that left no
studio recordings. The Brecker brothers had cut three studio tracks with Silver in 1972 (with Bob
Cranshaw on bass, and Mickey Roker on drums) and would record the LP “A Prescription For the
Blues” with the pianist in 1997 (backed by Ron Carter on bass, and Louis Hayes on drums).
However, Horace Silver’s 1973 touring quintet, featuring the three musicians plus Will Lee on bass,
and Alvin Queen on drums, was practically unheard. Only a single track by this formation from a
Pescara concert has been previously issued (on a long out of print compilation). This set adds to
Silver’s discography three complete concerts by that edition of his group, all three unissued and with
excellent sound quality. This edition also includes the aforementioned Pescara track as a bonus.

Another never before issued concert from the Spring of 1960 JATP European tour like the one at
Kongresshaus, Zürich, April 8, 1960 (TCB-02292). Getz intended to participate in the Spring 1960
JATP tour with three Copenhagen-based musicians: Swedish pianist Jan Johansson, Danish
drummer William Schiopffe, and bassist Daniel Jordan (another expatriate American). However,
in Paris on the first night of the tour, Getz fired both Schiopffe and Jordan after an argument. For
the rest of the tour he borrowed Oscar Peterson’s sidemen, bassist Ray Brown and drummer
Ed Thighpen, who formed an ad-hoc rhythm section with pianist Johansson reflecting the USA
(Getz’s home country) as well as his adopted home in Europe.
