This workshop is co-sponsored by the Society for Maternal-Fetal
Medicine, the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child
Health and Human Development, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Perinatal Pediatrics.
There are three primary goals of the workshop:
1.To provide clinicians with guidance on determining the appropriate drug to use during pregnancy incorporating available
science on indication, safety profile and pharmacokinetics.
2.To define the research gaps in safety of medications beyond
teratogenicity.
3.To outline policy initiatives to improve safety and efficacy of drugs
in pregnancy and lactation on the mother, fetus and infant.

The second annual lecture for the ABOG-SMFM Distinguished
lecture Series will be given by Ben Mol, MD on “Collaboration in
Clinical Trials and Individual Participant Meta-analysis: A Day Without Randomization is a Day Without Progress.” on Friday, February 5
at noon.
This continuing series will feature a nationally or internationally recognized expert in aspects of obstetric healthcare, research and/or
education. The lecture will be given annually during the Thursday or
Friday noon luncheon session and will be recorded for dissemination
on the Society’s website.

Dr. John T. Queenan has spent his career in academic medicine
initially focused on pioneering work in diagnosis and treatment of
the fetus. He has been dedicated to providing the best and most
up to date education for obstetricians and gynecologists with an
emphasis on the delivery of this education in a simple straightforward manner. As his career advanced, he developed a passion
for international public health and therefore the Queenan Fellowships for Global Health is a fitting capstone to his career. The vision
of the Queenan Fellowships for Global Health is to train leaders in
maternal-fetal medicine who will advance the practice of obstetrics through novel education and research in underserved areas
around the world. Please join The Pregnancy Foundation and the
Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine in recognizing Dr. Queenan
and help establish the Queenan Fellowships for Global Health by
attending a fundraising dinner in his honor on Thursday, February
5th at 7:00 PM.

5K Run/Walk for Andy
Please join the Pregnancy Foundation at 6:30am on Saturday, February 7th for our 5K Run/Walk in memory of Dr. Andy Helfgott. Andy
was passionate about our organization and work of the Foundation
to fund scholarships for fellows and the Society membership. He
was full of ideas and optimism, and was particularly enthusiastic
about the involvement of our fellows and junior members in our
organization. Therefore, we will reinstate the 5K Run/Walk event at
our annual meeting in San Diego as a tribute to Andy. Please join us
in honoring the memory of Dr. Andy Helfgott and in supporting the
Pregnancy Foundation and its programs. We are very grateful to

The Opening Reception combined with the opening of the Exhibits
will be held on Wednesday, February 4, from 6:00–8:00pm, providing
an opportunity for all attendees to meet and mingle informally over
drinks and light hors d’ouevres.
On Thursday, February 5, from 6:30– 7:30pm, there will be a reception for MFM Fellows-in-training. This event is supported by an
unrestricted educational grant from Obstetrix Medical Group and is
by invitation only. The Meet-the-Fellows Reception will immediately
follow the Associate Member’s meeting which will be held from
6:00–6:30pm.
On Friday night, from 6:15–7:00pm, the President’s Award Ceremony
is an opportunity to welcome the SMFM’s newest Honorary Member, The Pregnancy Foundation/AAOGF Scholarship Award winner,
and to cheer as the best oral and poster presentations (as judged
through Friday) are announced. The President’s Award Ceremony
will immediately follow the presentation on “Global Maternal and
Perinatal Health in a Changing World” by 2015 Honorary Member Dr.
Metin Gulmezoglu of the World Health Organization (5:45–6:15pm)
and the third annual “Late-Breaking Research” presentations

In 2015, the opening of the exhibits will once again be combined
with Wednesday evening’s Opening Reception in the Sapphire
Ballroom and Foyer. The 2015 exhibit portion of the meeting will
also include the Exhibit Passport Program where attendees receive
“passports” at registration and obtain an exhibitor stamp at each
booth they visit. Once attendees obtain stamps from at least 20
different exhibitors, they can enter for prize drawings. Prize offerings
include electronics, software, and meeting registrations. New for
2015, are door prize drawings on Thursday and Friday’s afternoon
sessions. Attendees will be provided with raffle tickets for prize drawings during these sessions. This is the only national meeting where
you will have the opportunity to see new services, equipment, and

will cover current controversies and concerns in Maternal-Fetal
Medicine. Attendance at each session is limited, so pre-registration is essential. The registration fee for the Roundtable Luncheons
includes a box-lunch, beverage, and the opportunity to hear some
of the most respected names in MFM discuss today’s “hot button”
issues.
Electronic Posters
For the second year, some posters in each session will be presented
electronically on large LCD screens in lieu of the traditional paper
format.
Mother’s Lounge
SMFM will have a dedicated room in the Hilton San Diego Bayfront
for mothers who are nursing. The room will be available throughout
the meeting, free of charge to Pregnancy Meeting attendees, but
storage is not permitted.
