teachers and specials teachers will need to be done online through Skyward Family Access.
Conferences are not mandatory, but are available by parent or teacher request. You may start signing
up on Monday, February 2nd. Please see below for step by step instructions.
7th Grade: Because these are done as group conferences with the teachers we ask that you call into the school office
after Monday, February 2nd if you would like to schedule a conference. This will be on a first- come- first -serve basis, as
there are a limited amount of time slots. As in the past, these conferences are optional. You would be contacted if a
teacher is requesting a conference.
8th Grade: Grade 8 students will be presenting their National History Day research projects at multiple times
throughout the day. A special conference schedule, offering several viewing/feedback times will be sent to
parents. If you are not able to attend conferences at one of the scheduled times, stop in, with your child, at any time
throughout the day for your conference. Your child needs to attend the conference for the purpose of presenting
his/her research.
Online Scheduling: please follow these directions at your earliest convenience to schedule conferences with the
teacher(s) of your 4K through 6th grade child(ren).
1. Login into Skyward Family Access – The Skyward Link can be found on the Lake Country School website.

3. Your 4K-6th grade student(s) will have a tab to the right of their name entitled All Conferences. Please click on that
tab.
4. Next click Select a Time.
5. Now you can view the open time slots the teacher has available. You may want to go back and view the open time
slots for any of your other children to coordinate times. When you are ready to choose a time slot, click Select and
then Save.
6. You will receive a Teacher Conference Sign-up Confirmation email shortly after registering.
7. If you need to change your time, you will now be able to click Unschedule inside the Teacher Conferences tab.
Save and begin again. You can also include a note to your child’s teacher by clicking the Notes option on the right.

MATH ACCELERATION
Monday, March 9, is the deadline for a parent/guardian, teacher or other school district professional to request
acceleration (grade skipping) in math by notifying Mrs. Schneider, the gifted and talented coordinator, in writing.
Current kindergarten through sixth grade students, who are highly capable students, are eligible to apply.
Previously placed students do not need to reapply. Included with this written notification should be a rationale for
why this is appropriate for the child. Once notification is received, a rigorous review process begins that
incorporates data from student performance, standardized test results and teacher observation. Parents who have
questions regarding this process should contact their child’s math/classroom teacher(s) or Mrs. Schneider.

Hello Students and Families of Lake Country School,
My name is Katie Weston and I am a sixth grader here at LCS. My sister Courtney (4th Grade) and my
brother Ben (1st Grade) and I were new to our school community last year. We have been inspired by our cousin
Killian to help “Spread The Love”, and we would love your help!
Four years ago, Killian (at the time a first grader) saw a commercial on T.V. about world hunger and the
basic needs that many families struggle with every day. This made him feel very sad, and at his request, our aunt
brought him to the Hartland Food Pantry for the first time to ask questions and learn about why it exists. This
prompted him to start his very own food drive at Hartland North School and called it “Spread The Love- Kids
Helping Kids”. It happens the first two weeks of February each year and its purpose is to raise donations and
awareness for the needs of the Hartland Food Pantry.
This is where our part of the story begins… When Killian called us that first year and told us what he was
trying to do, we were excited to help however we could. We donated food, helped make posters to hang in his
school, and each year we always get to help deliver food and restock the pantry’s shelves for “Spread The Love”.
Since our somewhat recent move to our new home, we have realized that our new school, Lake Country
and its district also border the Hartland Food Pantry. We also have learned over the years that our neighborhood
pantry does its best to meet the needs of an average of about 125 families (not individuals) each week. Most of the
people who rely on the pantry are the elderly (Grandmas and Grandpas) and families with little kids. After learning
this, my brother, sister and I felt we needed to do more than ever to help “Spread The Love”.
I got to present the idea of having our own “Spread The Love” food drive right here at LCS to Student
Council. I’m thrilled to announce that the idea to join Killian’s fight to end childhood hunger was met with tons of
enthusiasm! Killian has set an ambitious goal this year to raise at least 5,000 items for the pantry which is in great
need at this time. Together, I think we may even be able to beat his goal!
So here’s where your part of the story starts… you may have noticed lots of posters and food bins showing
up at school… that’s because we will be collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries for the pantry February
2nd-February 13th, and we would love your help!!! Special boxes will be placed in each classroom by the Student
Council and additional drop off bins will be located in the front lobby area of school to collect donations for this
important event.
In addition to our two week long food collection, we are lucky to have the support of the Student Council
members, many LCS Boy and Girl Scouts, and MY MOM to help staff and supply THE WILDCAT CUPCAKE
BOOTH , which will be selling delicious sweet treats for only $1/cupcake. Every penny we earn from our sales
will be donated to the food pantry to purchase much needed items to stock their shelves. The Cupcake Booth will be
open for business each afternoon during the food drive at LCS home basketball games, during school lunch periods
on Wednesday, Feb 11th and Thursday, Feb 12th, and during the LCS Community Art Festival on February 15th.
Would you like to donate a batch of cupcakes or help staff the booth at any of these times? Please contact Mrs.
Thurin for more information.
Thank you so much for your consideration in supporting this important cause. No child
deserves to struggle with hunger. Won’t you help us “Spread The Love”?
Kindly,
Katie Weston and the rest of the fantastic LCS Student Council

Music Department
wants to partner with
your business!
Lake Country School Music Department is hosting the vocal group re:Voiced for the second straight
year. Last year, we nearly sold out our tickets and this year we are expecting hundreds of Lake
Country area families to come to this one-of-a-kind concert! We want you to partner with us to make
it an unforgettable experience!
These 5 talented guys sing every genre of music, and they take time every year from their
international tour to sing in schools as a fundraiser for local music departments. Last year, we raised
about $500 for the LCS Music Department, and this year we’d like to double that!
There are 3 ways to partner with us:
1. Hang up a poster and help us get the word out to everyone in the Lake Country area!
2. Buy tickets! (great for employees, clients, yourself or loved ones)
3. Corporate Sponsorship! (see form below)
Thank you for your support of music in our schools!
