Dear Traveling Friends,
Wow! I believe 2014 was one of the busiest years of my life! I always comment it’s easy to
stay busy but tough to be productive. Last year I started Koinonia Charters with the purchase
of a Van Hool Touring Coach. I have been discovering the adventures of being a motor-coach
owner and working with the state and federal governments. Fun! Fun! Fun! Beginning this
year, Koinonia Travels and Tours will be located at 200 North Miles in Elizabethtown, KY.
This is also the location of the new Tender Touch Assisted Living complex. My new office is
on first floor. It is more accessible for travelers with plenty of parking. All of our trips will depart from this address. The best part of 2014 was making new friends with some really awesome folks!
The 2015 itineraries are exciting and literally span the globe. They have been designed to provide incredible experiences with lifelong memories. Our passion is to help people see and experience God’s great big beautiful world and show all that it has to offer! I believe the journey
is as important as the destination and that’s why we plan unique activities and events for every
tour. You will experience fantastic scenery, visit popular attractions, sample the local cuisine,
mingle with the local people, make new friends, learn about the history and culture of the places you visit, while staying in first class accommodations and traveling in different modes of
deluxe transportation. We will venture off the beaten path to find those hidden treasures to
make the trip more exciting and enjoyable for the traveler. You will have opportunities to
laugh, shout, sing, maybe cry and even dance. Maybe I should say be involved in some creative movement.
We believe group travel has more of a purpose than just traveling. We believe it enriches lives,
inspires people, encourages, motivates, educates, renews, refreshes, creates fellowship, and
offers some challenges. Plus, it’s worry free, more affordable, and safer.
I will continue to strive to exceed our travelers’ expectations in every way possible by providing value and quality. We are dedicated to personal customer
service. Our number one priority is the complete satisfaction and
safety of our clients.
So, what are you waiting for? Register today for your favorite
tour. Mark your calendar, pack your bags and be ready to come
aboard, sit back, and relax. You will be amazed as we show you
the world.
Blessings! Roger. Thanks for Traveling!

Koinonia Travels and Tours
Involved with Missions and Volunteer Vacations
One of our goals at Koinonia is to provide volunteer vacations and mission opportunities for individuals, families and groups. Combining serving and travel is a natural fit,
and one I believe God wants Koinonia to be involved in. God created a great big beautiful world for us to explore, enjoy and make a difference with our gifts and passions. He wants us to join Him all
over the world to help meet needs and transform people and places. Imagine the benefits of serving together as
a family or with other individuals. The world becomes a classroom! You learn about giving and not getting! You
become partners in a vision to help meet physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs of those you serve.
You experience each other in a different way as you watch passions, abilities and skills surface and strengthen.
Mission Trip or Volunteer Vacation?
Volunteer Vacations: Part Vacation! Part Service! Making a difference in the world while traveling and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation and serving others. Mission Trips: Basically the same as a volunteer
vacation with more emphasis and time spent on the project assignment.
Koinonia Travels and Tours works with missionaries, mission agencies, local missions, churches and other
organizations all around the world to provide a variety of service opportunities. Volunteer vacations are perfect for all denominations and all ages. Koinonia Travels and Tours can plan your group’s volunteer vacation
to meet your specific requests and needs, or network with others to help connect individuals to participate
and serve. When it comes to service, no special skills are needed, although, we can connect passions, skills,
and abilities with locations and request. All that is required of a volunteer is a willing, servant heart. So, if you
have a desire to serve, a sense of adventure, want to have an impact in the world, and do something really
good for God’s people while seeing the world, then plan to participate on a Christian volunteer vacation or a
mission trip for an experience that will change your life.
Nathan James McCurry
Memorial Family Mission Trip
July 11th-18th, 2015 in Orlando, FL
The Family Mission Trip is named in loving memory of Nathan McCurry. Nathan
developed a passion for missions as a young boy when he went on his first mission trip with his dad. Nathan served alongside his dad on all the summer Family
Mission Trips at Severns Valley Baptist Church. Nathan loved the mission team
and the sense of family created among the participants. He loved the opportunity
to serve in creative and unique ways. He used his skills of making balloon animals and athletic abilities to build relationships with children and to share his faith. He had a gift of working
with children and they were drawn to him. He patiently listened and quietly instructed, and willing took rowdy
children under his wing. Nathan was his dad’s right-hand-man and was someone his dad depended on for
getting tasks done no matter how small or large. He was always ready and willing to serve where needed.
Nathan’s gentle spirit, friendly smile, kind heart, positive attitude, and Christian example are greatly missed
by family, friends and former Family Mission Trip Participants. Nathan also loved serving with Sports Reach,
using his athletic skills to build relationships and sharing the Gospel. The team spirit and fellowship were
very important to him. One of his dad’s biggest thrills was to play sports alongside his sons while on mission
with the God they love.
Koinonia Travels and Tours and Sports Reach are partnering with Orlando Rescue Mission to minister in
the community using sports, recreation, worship and other unique ministry opportunities. There is a place for everyone to serve. Participants will have some
free time to visit local attractions in the Orlando area at their own expense.
Participants will also be required to attend three training sessions. To keep the
mission trip affordable for families, we will be staying in a nice housing community that has seven bedroom units. The mission team will also be preparing its
own meals. Scholarships are available. We are seeking some sponsors who
might be willing to donate to help with resources and scholarships. Sports
Reach is a 501c non-profit Christian organization. Donations are tax deductible. The cost: $285 per person: Includes: Transportation, lodging and meals
while on site. Space limited. Please email me if you are interested in this mission trip. Look forward to serving together.

Virginia Military Tattoo Festival
April 22 – 26, 2015
The Virginia International Tattoo is an exhibition of marching bands,
massed pipes and drums, gymnasts, Scottish dancers, choirs and more!
Military bands from around the world are represented. Tattoos are ceremonial performances of military music by massed bands. Each year, a
cast of over 800 artists from several countries creates an unforgettable
spectacle. The Virginia International Tattoo is the largest show of its kind
in the United States and offers an astounding display of patriotism and
spirit of international cooperation. It’s spectacular! Also, we’ll explore the
30-themed gardens at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. Azaleas should be in
bloom along with other beautiful flowers. Next, enjoy visiting the Chrysler
Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences. Also, we get to experience the
largest Naval base in our country with a tour conducted by Naval personnel. Later, enjoy the Tattoo Hullabaloo, an outside event to interact with the bands and indulge in food booths, and see the NATO flag
Raising Ceremony. We even get seats for the
Parade of Nations before we head for home. There is so much in store on
this five‐day trip. Tour Cost: $695 per person double occupancy. Includes: Motor-Coach Transportation, Admissions, Three Group Meals,
Breakfast at Hotels.

Natchez Trace Parkway Tour
Tupelo · Jackson · Natchez · Vicksburg · Memphis
April 27 - May 2, 2015
The Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444 mile drive through exceptional scenery
and 10,000 years of North American history. Used by American Indians,
“Kaintucks,” settlers and future presidents, the old Trace played an important
role in American History. On this journey we’ll relive the days when riverboat
men and backwoods adventures braved the perils of American frontier. We
will explore the Trace and learn more about the fascinating history.
Day 1: The adventure begins with our drive south and exploring the Trace from Tenn.
to Tupelo Mississippi. Day 2: We continue our journey on the Trace Parkway on our
way to Jackson and Natchez, Mississippi with some planned stops on the route.
Day 3: Today we visit Natchez, Mississippi. Established first as a French fort site
overlooking the Mississippi River in 1716, then laid out as a new town by the Spanish
in the 1790s, Natchez became part of the United States with the establishment of the
Mississippi Territory in 1798 and served as the first capital
for the new State of Mississippi in 1817. Few cities offer an
in-depth look at the past and present southern lifestyle like
Natchez. Walk in the footsteps of Southern belles, cotton
barons, Civil War soldiers, and Civil Rights pioneers. Explore antebellum homes and
historical landmarks for a glimpse at days gone by. We will learn surprising historical
tidbits about the Natchez Indians and the daily life in antebellum Natchez. But
Natchez is more than history. It’s what we love about the South — easy elegance and
casual charm, true hospitality, historic homes, lush gardens and moss-covered oaks
and delicious down-home fare. When they say, “Natchez is what you love about the
South,” we’ll understand exactly what they mean once we immerse ourselves in the
rich, vibrant history of this charming city on the Mississippi River. Day 4: Today we
make our way to Vicksburg, Mississippi. The Mississippi
River has long played a part in the historical, economic
and residential development of Vicksburg. Founded in
1811 and incorporated on January 29, 1825, Vicksburg
rapidly grew as a center for commerce, agriculture and
river traffic. We will spend some time visiting the city and
the National Military Park and learn about the importance
of the city during the Civil War. Day 5: Today we make our way to Memphis, Tennessee to explore this interesting city known for its barbeque and blues music. Enjoy a
guided tour of the city and discover its history. We will visit as many places as possible as time allows. Day 6: This morning we visit the legendary Graceland Mansion. Only at Graceland can we
begin to understand the personal life of one of the world’s greatest entertainers. See thousand of artifacts and
walk through the hall of gold. See Elvis's dazzling costumes, motorcycle, cards, personal effects, gifts, awards,
including the 17 carat diamond studded ring. Stand inside Elvis’s TV room and think about the first time you saw
him. We will have time to explore his private jet and shop in the two enormous gift
shops featuring all his recordings and every kind of souvenir imaginable. This afternoon we begin our journey home
with lots of memories and new friends.
Tour Price: $830 per person double occupancy, single
supplement, $250. Includes: 5 nights lodging, Motorcoach transportation, 5 group meals, Breakfast at hotels,
Admissions and Guides.

Pacific Northwest Adventure
June 9-16, 2015
Imagine driving along one of the most beautiful and spectacular coastlines in America. From Newport, Oregon to Eureka, California. This tour travels through Washington, Oregon and California with many highlights and remarkable cities. Day 1: Today your
scenic tour of the Pacific Northwest begins with a flight to one of America’s most picturesque cities,
Seattle. We will get acquainted with our fellow travelers and prepare for an awesome journey. Day
2: Seattle/Olympia, Washington & Portland, Oregon. We begin the day with a guided sightseeing
tour of the “Emerald City” including the colorful restored waterfront area, historic Pioneer Square,
and Pike Place Market, a famous fish and vegetable market dotted with restaurants and shops. We
drive south as we depart Seattle and travel through Olympia and stop at the Mount Saint Helen Visitor’s Center. Learn about the 1980 eruption as well as the history of the state park. Continue to
Portland for a two night stay in North America’s “Best Big City”. Day 3: Portland Cascade Mountains. Today we drive around the beautiful Columbia River George. It’s a day of sightseeing we’ll
never forget! Mt. Hood dominates the horizon as we leave the valley and enter the slopes of the
Cascade Mountains. We visit Bonneville Dam where we learn about its fascinating hydropower and
history. Plus, see the fishlocks and ladders. We’ll also see Multnomah Falls, tumbling some 620 feet.
Our drive takes us to the impressive Timberline Lodge. Nestled midway to the summit of Mt. Hood,
this National Historic Landmark is a master piece of mountain lodges. Constructed of mammoth timbers and native stone in 1937, Timberline Lodge stands today as a tribute to the rugged spirit of the Pacific Northwest. Day 4:
Portland / Willamette Valley / Newport / Coos Bay. Our scenic journey continues through what was the promise land for many
pioneers during the days of the Oregon Trail. The Willamette Valley contains some of the most fertile agricultural soils of Oregon
and nurtures vegetables, flowers, herbs, nuts, and vineyards. Next, we head to the coastal town of
Newport for a brief stop before traveling along some of the country's most beautiful coastlines and
the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Day 5: Brandon State Natural Area / Redwood National Park / Eureka, California. This morning we drive to Brandon State Natural Area. We will be
amazed by the scenery along the scenic Beach Loop with sights such as Bandon Rock and Face Rock,
known to many people from the American Indian Legend. Next, travel up the spectacular Rogue River taking us into Oregon’s rugged wilderness for a chance to see bald eagles, cormorants, seals and blue heron. Continuing south,
we enter the redwood country of California. Visit the famous Redwood National Park, home to some of the world’s tallest tress.
Inside the park, we’ll see some trees close to 300 feet tall and understand why the sun seldom hits the ground! Day 6: Eureka,
California / San Francisco, California. Today, we enjoy a delightful tour through the historic timber and fishing village of Eureka
and behold the beautiful Victorian architecture of Old Town. Journey through more redwood forests
including the “Avenue of Giants,” a scenic highway loaded with towering redwoods. Next, we drive
over the legendary Golden Gate Bridge and arrive in the “City by the Bay,” San Francisco. Day 7: San
Francisco. Today, we discover this amazing city with a fascinating sightseeing tour that highlights the
city’s most popular landmarks. We’ll see the stunning Twin Peaks, Chinatown, Union Square, Alamo
Square, Nob Hill, Coit Tower, Lombard street view, painted ladies, Victorian homes, Presidio, and
Fisherman's Warf and more! Hopefully, we can catch a boat out to the Rock, “Alcatraz,” once the
home to such outlaws as Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, and Robert Stroud, public enemy number one, known as the “Birdman of
Alcatraz.” Day 8: The tour ends with our flight back home, but we’ll never forget the beauty and majesty we have experienced.
The many memories and new friends will last for a lifetime.
Tour Cost: $1849 per person plus Air-Approximately $600. Price based on double occupancy. Includes: Lodging, transfers, motor

MIND OVER RIDDLES
What cannot be seen but only heard, and will not speak unless it is spoken to?
How do birds stop themselves in the air? What goes up when the rain comes down?
If you put a red hat in blue punch, what will it be? Where do tough chickens come from?
What is bigger than God, worse than the devil? The dead eat it and if you eat it, you die.
What was the largest island in the world before Australia was discovered? What is the quietest sport?
What animals need to be oiled?
Why is it always cool in sports arenas? Why couldn’t Batman go fishing?
What is it that the faster you run, the harder it is to catch? What has no beginning or end and nothing in the middle?
What do you call the person who mows the grass of a baseball field? What do you call a man who is always wiring for money?
Jesus Christ--One Solitary Life. He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant. He grew up in another village where he worked in a carpenter shop until he was 30. Then, for three years, he was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a
book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a home. He didn't go to college. He never lived in a big city. He
never traveled 200 miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had
no credentials but himself. He was only 33 when the tide of public opinion
turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied him. He was
turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He
was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While he was dying, his executioners gambled for his garments, the only property he had on earth.
When he was dead, he was laid in a borrowed grave, through the pity of a
friend. Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today he is the central
figure of the human race. I am well within the mark when I say that all the
armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned--put together--have

What Travelers Are Saying
If you ever have an opportunity to travel with Roger
McCurry at Koinonia Travels and Tours – do it!
Donna Frazier
Roger’s ability to schedule, plan, and follow thru on
every detail is excellent. We hope to make many more
trips with Roger and Koinonia Travels.
Jeannie Knight and Paul Bailey
Thanks for including so much and making sure we had an incredible journey. You worked so hard,
and the planning was so evident! I have traveled with others but you’re the best! Thanks
for the memories! Lahoma Baymore
I just wanted to let you know that we appreciated all the hard work you provided in making our trip
so memorable. Everything was planned so well. Carefree! We enjoyed everything, even your jokes!
Sue Pence
I really appreciate all your hard work and how streamlined
and effortless it looked to the traveler, even though I know
it wasn’t “effortless” on your part. Your attention to details,
organization abilities and concern for each traveler excel
you above others. I have traveled with others and there is
no comparison. You do a wonderful job and your passion is
evident. I look forward to other trips with you.
Debbie Skaggs
Roger, you have a very special gift! Thanks for giving so
much of yourself! The trip was so enjoyable and your acts of kindness and inspiration made each
day much brighter. Your spirit, planning, organizational and people skills are tremendous.
Jim and Mary Stroud
Imagine staying in nice motels, experiencing exciting adventures, enjoying fabulous food, viewing
incredible sights and making lifetime friends. Welcome to the wonderful world of traveling with Koinonia Travels and Tours. We have traveled with Roger for several years, and we have never been
disappointed on any trip. Danny and Linda Jayne
Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! I do not have words to explain the
great job you did planning, guiding and caring for us on the
Branson Tour. Your daily food for thought was appreciated
and inspirational. It was so nice to be with a group that enjoys the journey and the others traveling with them. Your
games help us get to know each other better and to laugh
with one another. Your magic topped the magic show we
attended.
James and Virginia Kerr
What Travelers Are Saying
Traveling a long way from home requires planning and intentional effort if the journey proves to be enjoyable. I experienced
such a well-planned and gratifying trip to Israel and Jordan in
2012 with Roger McCurry of Koinonia Travels and Tours. I can
say with strong affirmation Roger has lead Koinonia Travels
and Tours to be a premier agency for travel to any and all destinations. My journey to the land of the Bible was an inspiring,
informative and delightful experience. When you are making
plans to travel I heartily recommend Koinonia Travels and
Tours. You will be glad you called Roger McCurry!
Dr. Billy Compton, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church Mt. Washington, Kentucky
If you have not traveled with Roger McCurry and Koinonia Travels and Tours, you are missing some great
adventures as well as an opportunity to meet new
friends and to go to new places. Roger does an outstanding job as a tour director. He goes over and beyond what is expected to make sure each travel experience is all it can be and more. We highly recommend
Koinonia Travels and Tours. You won’t be
disappointed! Dave and Jo Griffith
Roger is a travel host extraordinaire. He is a man of integrity and a fine Christian man. He has many
skills: good devotions and advice, magic, plus helping to make the journey as important as the destination. His prices are reasonable. He works hard to ensure the travelers get their “money’s worth”.
I have enjoyed every trip with him that I have gone on. Betty J. McFarland
I have had the pleasure of working with Roger for years planning ski trips. He is always a joy to work
with and is very accommodating to his groups. Additionally, I have found he is very organized and
pays close attention to details. As a group leader, I never have to worry about my trips when working
with Roger. Neal Gossett, Minister of Activities, Southeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY
We have been traveling with Roger since 2001. Roger strives to make sure each traveler has the
most enjoyable and relaxing experience possible. We
have experienced the many benefits of group travel.
The fellowship, security and opportunity to make new
friends gives us a sense of ease. We have not been
disappointed in the planning, execution or variety of activities in the travel agenda. There is often the surprise
of an added meal or excursion, which just enhances an
already phenomenal, extraordinary travel experience.
He also encourages, entertains with his magic and
jokes, encourages, plus motivates and challenges us
with inspirational moments.

much history to explore. So many places: Istanbul, Alexandra Troas, Smyrna
