Departement van Gesondheid Fighting Disease, Fighting Poverty, Giving Hope KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Provide effective and efficient high quality specialist anaesthetic care at a regional level to all patients serviced by the department of Anaesthetics in Newcastle in order maintain optimal anaesthetic health care. Ensure clinical governance of the department in accordance to the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists practices and guildlines as a minimum standard. Maintain satisfactory clinical, professional and ethical standards in the deparment. Formulate policies and protocols and guidelines to enure provision of quality anaesthetic, emergency and level one obstetric critical care services and revising these as needed to optomise patient care in the theatre and wards the resources available. Formulate Document, Clinical and Mortality Audit to ensure the correct implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines and quality improvement. Assist with auditing the activity and outcomes of services of the Anaesthetic Department. Provide supervision, guidance, training and development of all medical officers in the Department of Anaesthetics. To ensure Data Management of Anaesthetics as well as critical care services. Provide after-hour (nights, weekends, public holidays) consultative care in accordance with the commuted overtime contract. Optimize delegated use of Human and other resources. In addition to duties at Newcastle, the incumbent would be required to rotate at Madadeni Hospital as part of the envisaged Amajuba Anaesthetic Metropolitan Rotation.
