Cafe Con Leche: Stress/Anxiety Series

A four part series will be offered this semester focusing on different aspects of stress and anxiety. Through this
series you will have the opportunity to recognize what may be going on for you, what stress/anxiety may look like
and how it make affect people, what it looks like in various relationships, and coping skills. Each session will focus
on a different aspect and you will have the opportunity to learn and share. There will also be counselors available
for anyone who wants to speak with one after the session. Free coffee and snacks will be provided. Everyone who
attends ALL four session will qualify for prizes. The first prize is a free massage!

“UnExpected Archives: More Location of Caribbean Film."

Please join the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies for a lecture by Terri Francis, Associate Professor
at the Department of Communication and Culture. Her lecture is titled "UnExpected Archives: More Location of
Caribbean Film." Regional and national boundaries parallel disciplinary ones and they present instructive
challenges. Latin American film criticism excludes the anglophone Caribbean. The borders of the United States
define American film history. Even scholarship on cinema of the African diaspora can be limited to countries in
Africa, Europe, and North America. Because Caribbean film history stands at the crossroads of all three areas of
scholarship, it tends to fall through the gaps between them. What to do?

An Evening with Ari Shavit

IU Hillel presents Ari Shavit, a leading Israeli columnist and writer. Born in Rehovot, Israel, Shavit served as a
paratrooper in the IDF and studied philosophy at the Hebrew University in Jersualem. In 1995 he joined Haaretz,
where he serves on the editorial board. Shavit is also a leading commentator on Israeli public television. His recent
book, My Promised Land, The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel, is a deeply personal narrative history of the State of
Israel.
“Black Men and Urban Policing, Toronto Style”

Prof. Owusu-Bempah (Department of Criminal Justice, IU) will focus on Black males’ perceptions of and
experiences with the police in the Greater Toronto area, and illuminate how the manifestations of racism in policing
stem from Canada’s colonial past.

Eighth Annual Native Film Series “Lived Lives”

will be available within 48 hours of your contacting CAPS. During your CAPS-Now appointment the counselor will
help you determine the best CAPS service for you. CAPS-Now is replacing the former walk-in service and the
former procedure of calling to schedule a first intake appointment.

Crimson CORPS (Caring, Open-Minded, Respectful, Peer Support)
Crimson CORPS is a unique training program created by Indiana University's Counseling and Psychological
Services. The mission of CORPS is to promote a culture of compassion and action on the IU Bloomington campus
and to bring awareness to issues of emotional well-being within the student community. This group is comprised of
carefully selected undergraduate students trained to provide informal, accepting and non-judgmental peer support,
and to recognize and refer students in need of more professional services. In addition, volunteers are active in
advocacy and outreach designed to increase awareness of mental health issues facing college students. We are

Spanish Native Speakers Needed for Study
My name is Rob Bedinghaus. I'm in the Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese and I'm trying to finish my dissertation this
semester. However, I'm still in need of some native Spanish speaking participants who are between the ages of 18
and 41. I will take as many are as willing to help. It involves 35-40 minutes of time sometime during the next week
or so and we would meet in Ballantine Hall. There are two listening tests and two very short questionnaires. I'm
offering a raffle for two $25 prizes and there will likely be around 15 total participants, making winning the raffle a

A survey of the popular and traditional music of Latin America and the Latino population in the United
States. Through the course students engage with the geographical, historical, political, economic and social
contexts within which each genre is produced and consumed, as well as the relevant composers, performers and
instruments of each region and genre. Students from all disciplines may take the course to fulfill their individual

2015 Indigenous Health Leadership Institute

This three-day immersion into Indigenous culture and health brings together healers and healers-in-training from
across the United States. Speakers will include Tribal leaders, traditional healers, youth and elders, with topics
ranging from historical trauma, intersection of traditional and Western medicine, and skill-building workshops
