FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 28, 2015 Contact: Dan McGuire, Principal, Moline High School [email protected] (309) 743-8802 MOLINE HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF HONOR COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES 2015 INDUCTEES The Moline High School Hall of Honor Committee announces the 2015 class of new inductees. The six new inductees will be honored at a private banquet on February 13, 2015. A second public ceremony will be held the same day at Wharton Field House, 1800 - 20th Avenue, immediately following the Moline vs. Alleman Sophomore Basketball game. The 2015 inductees are as follows: Alphonse "Flip" Anders (1920-1988). MHS Class of 1938. High School State track champion in 100 and 200 yard dash, University of Illinois Athlete, U.S. Army Veteran, community volunteer. John F. Baker (1945-2012). John F. Baker left Moline High School prior to the class of 1965 graduation to serve his country in the U.S. Army where, while serving in Viet Nam, he was awarded the Medal of Honor for "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty". Gary W. Brown (1940-2011). MHS Class of 1958. A thirty-four year Superintendent of Arrowhead Ranch, devoting his life to helping troubled teens, an U.S. Army veteran, outstanding high school and college athlete, and past Moline/Coal Valley Schools Board of Education member. James W. Collinson, MHS Class of 1956. Noted collegiate professor, geologist, and explorer. His published findings from his research and discovers in Antarctica (1970) has been a mainstay in geological teachings to this day. Bruce Lourie (1906-1996). MHS Class of 1924. Successful businessman and civic volunteer. During his thirty-five years of employment with Deere and Company his achievements included being name a Vice President of World Wide Sales, being name to the Board of Directors for a subsidy of Deere and Company, and numerous accomplishments in sales, distribution, and chemicals. Colleen B. Wilcox, MHS Class of 1967. A celebrated and accomplished educator in California and Illinois distinguishing herself in speech and language, innovator of programs for improving student achievement, as an author, and as an active member of her community. She was named California Superintendent of the Year in 1999."
