Christmas came early to Immac. Well, Ok, we weren’t
celebrating Jesus’ birthday
early, but the present thing,
yup, that came early!
Once again I am overwhelmed by the generosity
and support of our PSG and
Knights of Columbus chapters
who worked alongside our
school council.

Fine Arts Night
A HUGE thank you to parents, students and staff who made the Fine Arts evening on December 10 a great success! Audiences
were “wowed” by the band performances from the Grade 8-12 band classes, and treated to the fantastic art created by the grade
8-12 Art classes. Overall, the evening raised over $2000.00 towards our field trip to Vancouver Island in May! Thanks to all the
bakers, ticket sellers, refreshment table helpers, and bake sale cashiers who helped out that night. We definitely could not have
done it without you!

Basket Ball Senior Boys Southridge
Tournament December 12th to 13th
In a first trip to the coast this season The
Mustangs came away with 3rd place and
entertained a partisan crowd. Day dazzled, Bruchinsky bamboozled, Macdonnell mesmerized, Wallace wowed, Spellicy surprised, Gini jingled, Alexander
amazed, Reeve raved, Aquilon awed,
Beauchemin baffled, Mercuri marveled,
Shaw shocked, Jones jangled the opponents while Verna vocalized from the
bench.
So to the games. Round one, once more
into the fray against The Wolves from
“the grey” of West Point. Unlike Liam
Neeson and his band of misfits dropped
into the frozen Alaskan tundra to meet
their fate at the hands of the wolves.
The Mustangs refused to give in. Playing
together as a team to stop the Wolves
picking off the Mustangs one by one.
“Fight them off with fire” they say, that
indeed is what the Mustangs did. Holding high their golden torches the Mustangs hurt the Wolves whenever they

finals score 53 – 40.
The next round, not exactly the North
Ridge of the Eiger. None the less the
match up with Southridge was of mountainous proportions and a mental and
latterly physical challenge to which the
Mighty Mustangs were to be left breathless and fall on their knees just short of
planting the green and gold flag atop the

summit. Until “the 4th” it was
game“ (61 – 63) with the Mustangs sure
footed, looking stretched but comfortable. They were matching anything Southridge put in front of them. The Mustangs
were well equipped for the frosty conditions and weathered the Southridge
storms. In the 4th the ridge suddenly
narrowed and the tension was “knife
edge” as the Mustangs made for the
summit. Finally working at altitude took
its toll and a heavy “gust” unbalanced
Gini at point seeing him slide out of sight
with an injured wrist. The rest of the
Mustangs were unable to hold him on
the rope and lost their footing too. Final
score 61 – 81.
Finally the playoff for third against the
“Shamen” of the Similkameen valley.
The “Shamen” were also venturing to
the coast looking for rich pickings. To the
half the Mighty Mustangs were matched
beat for beat by the magic of the
Similkameens. Going in 21 – 17 up. The
third and fourth quarters saw the
Similkameens unable to keep the rhythm
of the Mustangs charge. Skipping a beat
or two the Similkameen magic faltered
and the Mustangs ran out worthy winners 42 – 36. Third place to the Mustangs !!!!
See you for the Mustang Classic in the
New Year !

PSG Mustang Spirit Wine Fundraiser
Back by popular demand is the Mustang
Spirit Wine Fundraiser. This year we've
selected wines from the Okanagan region, here is a description of the wines.
2012 MERLOT/CABERNET SAUVIGNON
This marvelous blend of Merlot and
Cabernet Sauvignon showcases some of
the finest offerings of the Okanagan
growing region. Complex in nature but
smooth to the palate with a fine balance of tannins....this wine is sure to
satisfy all who consume it. This wine
pairs beautifully with your favourite red
meats especially lamb or venison.
2013 PINOT GRIS
Produced from organic grapes, this wonderful Pinot Gris represents the best
that British Columbia can produce. Wonderful complexity with flavours of Bartlett pear and apple. Pairs well with milder foods. Serve with risotto, prosciutto
and prawns - yum!
Please See order form on page 10!

Class of 2019 Legacy of Service
Last year, when the grad class of 2019 was in grade 7, we
began an initiative to feed the clients at the shelter: Inn
From the Cold. Through various fund raising efforts we
raised $2500.00 to purchase food for our 5 year service project. In previous years, classes leaving the school purchased
an item and left it behind for the school. Rather than doing
this, our class decided to do something for people who are
less fortunate than we are. Each student in our class participated to make a roast beef dinner that was delivered by our
fellow classmates. By making this meal, and giving it to
someone who truly needed it, we realized that there is a
need in our community and that we can help.
the years until we graduate. We will be returning St Joe`s
yearly to make a meal with the existing grade 7`s. We have
all volunteered to shop for food, make the meal, organize
meetings with the grade 7`s or to encourage service. With
Christmas approaching quickly, we were offered the opportunity to reach out to the clients at the shelter. We have all
purchased a gift to donate to the men and woman to open
on Christmas morning.
The meal this year will be made on February 6, during Catholic Schools week.
Merry Christmas ,
Sophie Miller, IMMAC grad class of 2019
As promised, we will be continuing our legacy by making a
meal for the clients at Inn From the Cold this year, and for all

Parent Code of Conduct
Immaculata’s parents join in our proud tradition in a way that is summed up by our school’s
vision statement, “a family that fosters excellence.” All of our parents are a part of our
school family, and have the responsibility of helping to foster excellence in our student athletes, both athletically and in showing sportsmanship. Most simply this is done through
example. As members of our Immaculata family, Immaculata’s parents act as representatives of Immaculata Regional High School, and Mustangs Athletics.
Immaculata encourages all parents or guardians to:
Support Mustangs Athletics
Encourage all players to demonstrate sportsmanship, with enthusiasm and respect for all participants
Model sportsmanship by refraining from any contact with referees,
allowing officials to referee games without intimidation
Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive
