SHUT OFF VALVES: We will move into the final phase of this project, that of identifying all
sectors of the Park and the valves that control the water flow to them, this month. Many of our
residents will be back in the Park and able to monitor the water to their homes as we turn valves
on and off and record the results. With your cooperation we hope to complete this in a couple
of days. It will make life a lot more comfortable for all of us and will be more cost effective.
OFFICE SPACE UPGRADE: The renovation of the office spaces are virtually complete and
looking terrific. Clay has done a wonderful job on this project. With the completion the renovation let me remind all that the most important reason for this project is to provide privacy for
our residents while doing business with Desiree or Michael. The protocol from now forward
is that the outer door will remain closed and if you see through the windows in the door that
someone is in with Desiree, please have a seat and wait for the person to finish with their business, and then go in.
ROC Units: When Clay finishes putting the final touches on the above renovation he will again
work diligently on rehabbing our remaining 6 coaches. We have said this many times before,
but I will say it again, if you are having someone coming to occupy your coach they need
to be approved before hand and they need to check in at the office. It can be very embarrassing for you and the guest if they are denied occupancy after they have traveled many
miles because we find they do not qualify. Please make sure that your renters understand
that we are a 55+ community and a pet free Park. If you are uncertain what needs to be
done, contact Desiree in the office. Finally, we should all understand that we are responsible for the people that we allow to rent or occupy our units, so make sure they are fully
aware of the rules and regs of our Park.
When you are leaving the Park for an extended period of time (cruise, visit friends, etc. please
inform the office that you are going. Also, it would be a good idea to let the office know who
has keys to your home. In case of an emergency we will contact that person and try to prevent
further damage if possible. You might think about letting Desiree know who is responsible for
maintaining your flower bed/s. Our Park has never looked better; let's keep our Park looking
beautiful all year long. Our full time residents certainly would appreciate your help in this matter. We have people looking at our Park to purchase or rent a coach, so the Park should be in "A1"
shape at all times. Our after hours/weekend emergency phone contact number is 727-535-2424.
Recycling: By this time we all know that plastic bags, styrofoam or any other garbage
should not be put into your blue recycle bin. But, if you wish to recycle these plastic bags and
Styrofoam, you can do it at Publix Market where there are 3 bins in the front of the store. KEEP
UP THE GOOD WORK.
Reminder: Improvements to the exterior of your coaches, including window replacements,
painting and plantings outside of the planter boxes must be approved by the Park before work
begins. Some renovations may require City of Largo permits. Failure to obtain Park approval
or necessary permits may result in stop work orders and/or fines until project is in compliance.
Last but not least: I'd like recognize our administrative assistant, Desiree Leonard, for the
fine job she is doing for our Park. Thanks, Desiree. FOUR SEASONS FORUM JANUARY, 2015 S

T
he January HOA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 7th at 7PM
in the Clubhouse. We are still collecting $20 per coach for 2014 annual
membership dues payable to Four Seasons H.O.A. and may be dropped
off to Ernest Simon at Lot #103 or mailed to Ernie at the park as he is a full time
resident. Our By-Laws are given with paid membership dues at H.O.A. meetings. Please note we need the support of every home owner for our Association
in order to be a viable concern.
If you have any issues or concerns to add to our January agenda, please provide to Janice
Lamore at [email protected].
Mass & Memorial for Eileen Dodaro
F
amily and friends of Eileen Dodaro have requested a Mass be said in her memory at St.
Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo, at 12:30 pm, Sunday, January 18.
Coffee and cake will be served at the Four Seasons Clubhouse at 1:30 pm, after the mass.
All are invited to attend.
Annual Memorial Service
F
our Seasons Estates conducts a memorial service annually to remember those residents and
friends who died during the past year. This year our service will be held in the clubhouse
on Sunday, February 15, at 2:00 P.M. A coffee and cake reception follows the service.
This year we will remember the following residents and friends: Richard (Dick) Bosserman,
Lawrence (Clem) Clement, Gerard (Grasshopper) Clouse, Eileen Dodaro, Bernice Fullerton,
George Gamble, Norma Greenwald, Al McGann, Bill O’Donnell, Everett Smith and Paul Wilson. If you think we have missed anyone, please contact Marilyn Franz to provide her with the details.
We encourage all residents to attend as we remember and pay respects to the families and friends
of those who have gone before us.
Notice to all new residents
I
t seems there has been some confusion, about what residents belong to HOA, ROC, and
SAC. I hope this will help you decide with which group you as a resident, are associated.

O
ur “Welcome Back” Dance on November 22nd, with the “Cruiser” providing the entertainment was nicely done. With over 100 guests in attendance, there was a lot of
dancing and singing, some drinking and lots of prizes to be had. Great job Verretta!
Pictured here are some new residents and long-time residents! Leon, Pat, Doris, Arthur, Lise
and Ron – thank you for joining us at our Welcome Back Dance!!
A calendar of events – “At a Glance” has been posted at the clubhouse for those interested in
planning out the events they want to attend for the winter season. If you require the clubhouse
for a private function or public event, be sure to check the availability with our Director – Bob
Mendes.
ORGANIZER HELP NEEDED
The Board has secured two dates –“saved the date” for potential dances. We need two
coordinators – one for each event - which means – you and your team sell tickets, locate DJ or
band, decorate, arrange 50/50 or raffles for the event, and have a team to clean up afterwards. The first date is Thursday, February 26, – Country Dance – the country theme was a
suggestion from last season which would include dressing the part, dancing to line dances and
a full country and western music program. We have secured the date, but need leaders to take
on the coordination of the dances.
The second is a “Farewell Dance” on Saturday, April 11. Please let us know if you will
take the lead. All of these events cannot be organized and conducted by board members – we
need volunteers to help make these activities a success.
If you would like organize any other type of event/activity – for example – a picnic, pot luck
supper, BBQ by the pool, pool party, etc. please speak with Verretta about your idea! We have
very few conflicts with events this year with those planned at Pointe West as we are sharing

our information.
BOARD VACANCIES:
I have still not received any volunteers to coordinate the Neighborhood Watch Program for our
community. It involves a liaison with the local police, keeping residents informed of new police alerts or information and sharing noteworthy updates to our residents. Please give it some
thought, and let me know if you are interested in taking on this role. A committee is in place,
but we need someone to lead/coordinate.
OLD/WORN FLAGS
Place your old/worn flags (American and Canadian) in the basket in the clubhouse. These will
be collected throughout the year and used for the Flag Retirement Ceremony next November.
The container has been moved from the Activity room, and once the office renovations are
complete, there will be an area for placing these near the front door and more accessible to
residents. This is applicable to used eyeglasses as well.
BINGO VOLUNTEERS:
If you are looking for an easy volunteer opportunity, please consider “calling back” at Bingo on
Friday nights. As per our bingo license, bingo players cannot call back or distribute winnings.
If you help out, you will be very much appreciated! If you would like to learn to “call bingo”
or act as “banker”, please see Betty Gurn. The same people are doing this all the time and it
commits them for every week. If we have enough volunteers, we can create a schedule that
could allow for volunteering once a month or as often as you wish.
THE SHED
The Shed is full, as are the 2 storage pods, AND 3 inventory homes – with furniture and household
goods collected throughout the summer and fall. We are overflowing and very ready for the Flea
Market. (For the women in the park – we are dilated at least 10 cm. and ready to deliver…..)
Alan and his brother, Roy, and at times – Ed, have been carrying and lifting some very heavy
furniture and struggling to fit it in some tight places since last May. It would be nice to display
it on a regular basis, but it is impossible to put everything out for everyone to see. However,
we have started our own little inventory system so that if some is looking for something specific, we will have it listed and will know where to find it. We often take their role for granted. Many of us are no longer able to lift heavy objects, but without these individuals in our park
volunteering for this job, on their own time and at our whim, we would be at a great loss and
would have difficulty collecting all of these goods. So kudos to Alan, Roy and Ed for their
strength and willingness in support of the Social Activities Club!
NEXT MEETING:
The next SAC meeting is Thursday, January 8th, at 7 pm at the clubhouse. Please join in on
the discussions. We provide opportunities for feedback from the general membership so tell us
what you like or don’t like, or what you think we should be looking into. Your input helps to
provide us as board members with a broad perspective of the membership’s views, particularly
when a board vote is necessary. We look forward to seeing you and hearing your ideas! FOUR SEASONS FORUM

CHAIRPERSONS:
I posted a list of the chairpersons from last year, asking those people to acknowledge that
they are still leading these areas for this year – so, if you haven’t – I am proclaiming you are
the chairperson!!
Three chairpersons have indicated to me they are retiring, so new people are needed to
take on these 3 roles: Kitchen - providing snacks and drinks for workers on the set up day
and day of the event for customers. Traffic – coordinate the traffic on the street to ensure they
are safely directed to proper parking and shuttle areas; work with chairpersons for golf cart
shuttle and security , $elebration Dinner – decide on menu, organize purchases, coordinate
the cooking and serving at the dinner. NOTE: There are currently volunteers to do the work
on these 3 committees but we need a leader/coordinator for each. I can provide details on the
requirements of each role, so please don’t hesitate to contact me – soon!
CHAIRPERSON MEETING
The “ALL CHAIRPERSONS” meetings are scheduled for January 7th and 21ST,
right after Koffee Klatch. Prior to January 7th, I would also like to meet with Publicity,
Donations/Silent Auction and Supplies. Please let me know your availability by calling
me – I am returning January 1st. Please mark these dates in your calendar.
VOLUNTEERS (WORKER-BEES):
We will need volunteers to help again this year. If you worked last year, you will be contacted by your chairperson/coordinator to work again this year. If not, or if you are new to the
park and can assist us, please let me know via email or call me when I return January 1st. This
is one of our biggest fundraisers, and as volunteers, you make this event operate smoothly!!
RED SHIRTS!
Flea Market workers are easier to recognize if they are wearing a red shirt – so if you
haven’t already ordered a new golf shirt from Lorraine Meinert, please give it some consideration. They are very reasonably priced and she will be placing an order in early January which
will ensure delivery in time for the flea market.
SCHEDULE FOR WEEK OF FLEA MARKET
Rather than fill up a lot of space in our newsletter with details around the week of the Flea
Market, I will be posting the schedule for the week, but also look for the schedule insert in this
newsletter.
On Friday, the 23rd , WORKERS will be able to walk through and purchase items between
9:00-10:00 a.m. From 10:00-11:00 a.m. OTHER PARK RESIDENTS may come through,
but they must be wearing their park name tag! NOTE: Those people who contribute baked
goods are considered “workers”. Significant time and cost has been invested to bake these

wonderful pastries, cakes, squares etc., and this is considered their donation of time for the Flea
Market.
On Saturday, ALL workers will be required to wear a red shirt for easy identification and special name tag. Name tags will be provided by each Committee Chairperson. No parking will
be permitted in the parking lot on Saturday.
Rolls, donuts and coffee will be served on Thursday and Saturday for workers. On Saturday of the
event, lunch will be provided (assuming we have a volunteer to chair the Kitchen Committee!).
DONATIONS
Donations are required for our raffle table and silent auction. Pat Wright (#244) and Judy Clark
Redmon (#136) are looking after these areas again this year. They require assistance to solicit
donations/gift certificates from local businesses, restaurants, hair &nail salons, car washes, etc. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT TASK!
Please see Pat or Judy for copies of the letter to take to local businesses that you support to seek
out donations that we can raffle. We need to ensure we do a thorough check of local businesses,
services, restaurants etc. to ensure we have some great raffle prizes. As many organizations
decide now which charities and communities they are going to support, it is important that we
solicit these organizations now. Pat and Judy will keep the donations/prizes and liquor donations and put them together into beautiful baskets.
USED ITEMS TO DONATE
We are still acquiring items, even though we are short on storage room, so if you are cleaning out closets and cupboards, please pass on any unwanted items. Take them to the shed on
Wednesday mornings if you can. Hold on to those larger items until we find some space in the
containers. We are particularly in need of jewelry – so, please go through your jewelry box and
drop off donations to Dona McKee in #434 or bring to KK on Wednesday mornings.
$ELLEBRATION DINNER TICKETS
Family members and friends who have not worked the flea market, but want to attend the $ellebration dinner, may purchase tickets for $3.00 each. NO TICKETS will be sold after Wednesday,
the 21st, at Koffee Klatch, so get them early.
TO OUR ENTIRE FOUR SEASONS COMMUNITY – Please join me in working together
to make this another successful Flea Market!

he computer club meets on the first and third Tuesdays (and fifth if there is one) at 10. Our January meetings will be the 6th and 20th. All residents and friends with an interest
in sharing and improving their computer skills are welcome. The computer club provides security-enabled wireless internet in the clubhouse. The name of the
network is “ccnet2.4”; see any of us or Desiree for the password. There is
no charge for park residents. In addition to problem solving, we can arrange
to have small group sessions which cover diverse areas such as electronic
book readers, pocket computers, internet telephone, and the “hidden” features
which allow you set up security on the internet browser. Everyone around
the world is experiencing more and more security problems, be they stolen

to crop up nearly every day. Word to the wise -- be careful out there!
Because we’ve been so successful in past years, and newer residents tend to be very computer savvy, the beginners’ class is no longer being offered. If you need help with a problem,
please attend the regular meetings, where we will be very pleased to answer questions and offer
advice to the best of our collective abilities.

e would like to thank Gerry Howlett and her committee for the Kitchen
Party that was held on December 2nd. The admission was to bring
food for the RCS Food Bank. It was a great party, and we collected
169 pounds that night! Thanks to all who attended and contributed. There are large blue containers near the office entrance for your
convenience. Please be certain that the items donated have not passed the
“use by” date.
The RCS Food Bank distributes food to people at their Clearwater warehouse and delivers
food to local food pantries, homeless shelters, domestic violence safe houses, soup kitchens and
housing programs for the disabled and elderly to ensure access to food in the neighborhoods
that need it most. Children, age 5-13 years are the largest demographic receiving food from
RCS. Thank you for your past and future participation.

Pool Etiquette
I
t may be winter, but you’d never know it by looking at our lovely Four Seasons pool. Please
observe these important rules for everyone’s protection and enjoyment. 1. If you are the last one out of the pool, always be certain that the rope is secured across
the pool. Please ask your guests to be aware of the importance of this as well.
2. If you are a smoker and use the ‘butt’ buckets – please clean them out once in a while.
Make sure the ‘butts’ are completely out before you put them in the trash can.
3. The life preserver is for emergencies only – it is not a toy – do not let children play with
it in the pool.
4. Observe special times for your young visitors. Children under
the age of 16 may use the pool between the hours of 10AM
- 1PM and 5PM till dusk, and should be accompanied and controlled at the pool by their host/s or a designated adult.
5. Straighten the chairs and tables whenever you move them around – don’t leave them for
someone else to rearrange.
6. If you put an umbrella up – make sure you put it down and tie it when you leave the
pool. Winds can blow up quickly - we wouldn’t want anyone to be injured by a flying
umbrella.
7. The green wrist bands serve to identify residents and guests – it’s important for everyone’s security to know who belongs here and who doesn’t. PLEASE WEAR THEM.
8. Be sure to dispose of trash properly – there is a special covered can to recycle aluminum cans – do not put household/personal trash in the trash can – NO GLASS ALLOWED IN THE POOL AREA (this is for everyone’s safety).
9. A few folks have taken to caring for the potted plants around the pool – please help out
if the plants look like they need watering. There is a watering can by the hose along the
back wall of the clubhouse. Thanks.

any thanks to Ron & Lise & "George" for their help in carting the many tubs of Christmas decorations from the outside shed. Ron & "George" navigated erecting the tree
while Lise lent her nimble fingers to "fluffing" the greens. With outside help from
my daughter, wreaths & garland were hung & the tree decorated. Approx 6-7 man (woman)
hours were spent to make the hall festive. The decorations will be left up until after the New
Year when volunteers will be needed to take them down & store them for another year. The
take down goes much faster. Please let me know if you would like to help!

Mandy Harmon-Ashley #373
O
ur page has been discovered my many newcomers! Our readership is now 115 & growing! We have posted timely happenings such as the photos from the Tea & Fashion
show & Welcome Back Dance. This page acts like the “phone tree” of old but you have
to go to our page &” like” our page to get notifications. To become a member of the page: Go
to your FaceBook page...Type 4 Seasons Social Activities Club in the white
search bar at the top .When you are on that FB page, look under the banner
picture (currently Christmas theme). Find the box marked “like” & click it.
When you click on it there should be a drop down box with choices (note:
Face Book changes things time to time). One of them is “get notifications”.
Click on it which should put a check mark next to those words. This should
send a notification when something is posted here to your e-mail box.
A Way to a Happy New Year
To leave the old with a burst of song
To recall the right and forgive the wrong
To forget the things that bind you fast
To the vain regrets of the year that’s past
To have the strength to let go your hold
Of the not worthwhile of the days grown old
To dare go forth with a purpose true
To the unknown task of the year that’s new
To help your brother along the road
To do his work and lift his load
To add your gift to the world’s good cheer
Is to have and to give a Happy New Year!

Early riser vs. nighthawk: Who’s better off?
Are you the early bird who gets the worm, or a night owl burning the midnight oil? The answer
may have an impact on your health—and even your career.
One study cited in U.S. News & World Report found that teens who are early to bed and early
to rise tend to be in better health than their peers who stay up late and sleep in, even if they get
the same amount of sleep. And other studies suggest that morning people do better at resisting
fatigue, anxiety, and depression, while nighthawks appear to suffer higher rates of insomnia
and ADHD. The stay-up-late crowd may also have a higher propensity for substance abuse,
addictive behaviors, and mental health problems.
But being a night owl has its advantages, too. Research also indicates that they can have higher
IQs, more stamina during the day, better reasoning and analytical skills, and greater creativity
and productivity. These traits, along with an inclination toward more risk-taking, seem to contribute to night owls having a higher average level of financial and career success.
The Mayo Clinic website notes that our sleeping habits are governed by the body’s natural 24hour cycle, known as the circadian rhythm. Some people have a slightly longer light-to-dark
ratio, making them night owls; others with a short cycle tend to be early risers. However, the
cycle can shift over a person’s lifetime: Young children are usually early birds, then become
nighthawks as teenagers, then gradually transition back to being morning people as adults.
Eat right to avoid the flu
It’s never too late to protect yourself (and your friends and family) from the flu. A flu shot may be
your best line of defense, but you can also keep the flu virus at bay with help from these foods:
• Chicken soup. Once again, your mother was right. Chicken soup provides fluids that help
fight off viruses, and it can reduce inflammation and other symptoms of the flu.
• Garlic. Compounds in garlic (also onions) known as allion and allicin have an antiviral
impact. For maximum effect, chew a raw clove every three to four hours. If necessary, try
chopping the clove into smaller pieces to swallow like pills.
• Pumpkin seeds. The zinc in pumpkin seeds is said to help white blood cells fight off disease.

• Citrus fruits. The vitamin C found in most citrus fruits (as well as red bell peppers,
broccoli, sweet potatoes, and otherfoods) can reduce cold and flu symptoms by up to 25
percent.
• Blueberries. Antioxidants are more plentiful in blueberries than in lots of other fruits and
vegetables. Eat half a cup a day during flu season. Fresh blueberries are best, but even
frozen ones offer strong benefits.
Start feeling better with these quick ideas
Do you feel tired, but not really sick? Try these tips for staying active and alert:
• For long-lasting energy, eat foods like lentils, soybeans, couscous, and dried fruits.
• Make sure to drink plenty of water to help replenish and cleanse the body.
• Popping a chocolate kiss in your mouth has been shown to raise endorphin levels and
make you feel better. More, however, won’t make you feel any better than just one.
• Add ginger to your recipes. Ginger has been used since ancient times in China to help
digestion and cleanse the body.
• Eat a cup of yogurt per day. Women who ate one cup of yogurt per day for six months got
33 percent fewer yeast infections, according to scientific studies.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold.
