What a fabulous year at Fairfield! The Fairfield PTA is excited to bring
back the school newsletter and hope the seasonal update on school events
can be interactive. We would love for you to submit ideas and even have
the kids get involved in writing about the exciting things that are
happening in their classrooms! To submit ideas for our next issue- please
email : [email protected]
The school year has taken off quickly. September started out
with the Back to School BBQ. The BBQ was a huge success with just
under 800 attendees. The children all had a great time! The Holiday Fair was a
huge success! The children had a great time choosing gifts for their families as well
as learned about budgeting their money.
Some upcoming events for this school year are the book fair in February, the
Sweetheart dance and Parent – Son event in March, the Plant Sale in May and Field
Day in June.
We have some new and exciting fundraisers planned for the winter and
spring. In the winter, you will have the opportunity to purchase bricks
that will be laid around the flag pole. The bricks can be engraved with
your child/children’s names and their graduation years. We will be using
Mixed Bags for a fundraiser in the spring. Mixed Bags Designs offers a
variety of different types of bags in different sizes, styles and patterns.
We are also planning a Spring Gala for May. This will be a night out for
Fairfield Moms to get together, have a night out and enjoy a Chinese
auction all while supporting our school!
We would like to thank Mrs. Dano and Mr. Aspetti for allowing us to
provide the programs we have planned for the children this year. We
would also like to thank the members of the PTA Board for all the time
and effort they are putting in to help make this year a success.
Some of the programs we are going to be offering this year are:
-Anti-Bullying Laser Light Show -Touch Tank for Kindergarten
-Long Island Children’s Museum’s Lucky Fortune Program 1st Grade
-Long Island Children’s Museum’s Build It Program 2nd Grade
-Mad Science: Bugs! For 3rd Grade -Journeys into America for 4th
- -Camfel Productions for 5th and 6th Grade
Thank you for all of your support! We couldn’t provide all the programs and
activities for the children without it! If you are not a member of the PTA, please
consider joining. $6 out of your $10 membership fee remains with our PTA. This
enables us to provide the programs to the school. We would like to wish you all a
Happy and Healthy New Year!

Our annual Back to School BBQ was a great success!
What a fun way to kick off the new school year.

Principals Corner
We are pleased that the PTA has brought back their
newsletter. This will be one of the many ways that we
hope to communicate the wonderful happenings at
Fairfield. We hope that everyone is signed up to receive
the Fairfield ENews, a calendar of events that gets
published every few weeks. We encourage all of you to
access our school’s website to see messages, images, and
highlights of lessons and activities.
We are delighted with the smooth opening of school.
We enjoyed Halloween and the Kindergarten Recital.
The teachers have created and implemented exciting
and engaging lessons. They are ready to report each
child’s progress in school at the upcoming parent-teacher
conferences and report cards. We look forward to the
holiday concert to be performed by our fifth and sixth
grade band, orchestra, and chorus students.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dano and Mr. Aspetti

Red Ribbon Week was
a huge success! It was
thrilling to see all of the
students aspirational
and inspirational paw
prints decorating the
halls of Fairfield.
Students aspired to be
healthy, smart, and
strong. They want to
be police officers,
Olympians, dolphin
trainers, dancers,
teachers, car dealers
and the Tooth Fairy!
There is nothing you
can't achieve if you

Thanks to all the
students who shared

Peer Tutoring
The members of the MHS National Honor Society offer peer tutoring to students in
all grade levels in order to gain community service hours
Peer tutoring is done after school for one hour in the Massapequa High School
Main Campus Library. National Honor Society students are not permitted to go to
the homes of the students.
Peer tutors are assigned through an email request system. If you would like to
request a peer tutor, please email [email protected]. One of our
officers will find a tutor and they will contact you directly.

Fun in First!
Did you know there are nearly one
thousand different kinds of bats in
the world? Mrs. Ross’ class does.
The first graders have been
learning all about bats. The class
has been reading bat books,
researching bat facts, and even
had a video conference with
Fairfield’s librarian, Mrs. Dorfman.
The students got a firsthand look at
rescued and rehabilitated bats from
the Cranbrook Institute of Science
in Michigan.
