NOTICE OF RACE
Eastern Region Regatta
7th & 8th February 2015
Loch Sport Boat Club Inc. (L.S.B.C.) invites entries for the
Eastern Region Regatta to be sailed on the Lake Victoria
adjacent to Loch Sport Boat Club according to the Eastern
Region Regatta NOTICE OF RACE
1) ORGANISING AUTHORITY.
The Organising Authority is the Loch Sport Boat Club Inc.
2) RULES.
All races will be governed by the Yachting Australia (Y.A.) Racing Rules of Sailing for 20132016 including amendments made from time to time by Y.A. also by the Prescriptions and
Special Regulations of Y.A., by this Notice of Race, by the rules of an applicable class,
measurement or handicap system, (except as any of these changed by the Sailing
Instructions), and by the L.S.B.C. Sailing Instructions 2013-2016 and any supplementary
Sailing Instructions that will be displayed on the notice board prior to each race. All
Transport Services Victoria minimum safety requirements must be adhered to.
3) ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY.
Entry is open to all boats that comply with the required safety category.
Eligible boats belonging to Financial Members of Eastern Region Clubs.
Entry for: Seniors $15.00 a race – For the series $40.00
Juniors $10.00 a race – For the series $25.00
4) SCHEDULE.
The race program as per the LSBC 2014/2015 Sailing Calendar
This is available at the L.S.B.C. Clubrooms and the L.S.B.C. website.
Saturday 7th February Registration from 1200 hrs
Briefing 1300 hrs
Invitation Race 1400 hrs
Sunday 8th February Briefing 1000 hrs
Heat 1 1100 hrs
Heat 2 1400 hrs
Presentations – as soon as possible after the last race
Saturday 28th February& Sunday 1st March – Provision for resail if necessary
5) SAILING INSTRUCTIONS.
The Sailing Instructions are applicable to Easter Region Regatta. Sailing Instructions will be
available from the L.S.B.C. clubrooms on the day of the Regatta and also may be available
from the L.S.B.C. Website.

Supplementary Sailing Instructions (SSI) will be issued for each days racing. They will be
available at the course board at least one hour from the advertised start time of the race and
will include the chosen courses and start times.
6) COURSES.
Courses will be predominantly sailed on Triangular “Olympic” style or Windward Leeward
Courses as displayed on the course board.
7) SCORING.
Scoring of the Eastern Region Regatta will be a modified* version of Y.A. 2013-2016 RRS
Appendix A9 using the Low point score system.
*The modification to this system is as follows: that if a boat does not sail in a particular heat,
points will be given from the number of entries on the day plus 2.
A lone starter in any Division that finishes a race will be acknowledged as winning that race.
Results will be provided for Divisions as follows.
8) DIVISIONS.
DIV 1: Monohulls YVY less than or equal to 120.
DIV 2: Trailerables, and Keel boats (including Etchells, Solings, Dragons, Diamonds and
Tumlaren Class Results on YVY
DIV 3: Monohulls YVY greater than 120. Results on YVY
DIV 4: Off the Beach Multihulls. Results on YVY
DIV 5: Large Multihulls. Results on OMR
YVY = YACHTING VICTORIA YARDSTICK
CBH = CLASS BASIC HANDICAP
L.S.B.C. = L.S.B.C. ASSIGNED HANDICAP
OMR = LARGE MULTIHULL HANDICAP
Of the 2 scheduled races both will count towards the series result.
9) PRIZES.
1st 2nd & 3rd in each Division.
The Perpetual trophy will be awarded to the club having the lowest aggregate score from its
two best placed boats in its two best divisions. In the event of a tie, results in other divisions
will be taken into account.
The presentation of prizes and trophies will be made at the L.S.B.C. Clubhouse as soon as
possible after the conclusion of the last race.
10)SAFETY.
The safety categories for the Eastern Region Regatta are as follows:
TRAILABLE, KEELBOATS, BALLASTED OPEN BOATS, AND MULTIHULLS.
CAT 7 on the calendar: YA. Special Regs. Part 1 CAT 7.
NOTE: On boats sailing without lifelines fitted all crew MUST wear an approved PFD.
In addition if CODE FLAG “Y” (PFDs MUST BE WORN) is flying from the L.S.B.C. flagstaff
or Committee vessel ALL crews MUST wear an approved PFD.

Division 2 Boats shall not lift centreboards, or lift or cant keels while racing, other
than to free an obstruction.

11) INSURANCE.
All competing boats shall have and maintain for the entire Sailing season a current
Insurance policy with a minimum Public Liability cover of not less than Five Million Dollars
AUD ($5,000.000).
