Your contributions allowed us to assist nine hundred-ninety people in our community. Because of your generosity we are able to do God’s work to help the poor There are different models for ministry in shared and intercultural parishes. Parish life provides different approaches for immigrants to adapt to the prevailing culture within the Church and in society. “Instituto Fe y Vida” has identified some useful and currently employed parish models such as; Americanizing, personal/ethnic, inclusive, segmented, mission outreach, and integrated. and needy. Deacon Mike Slinger, Juan Carlos Fuentes, Ellen Haag, Laura Gascon and I are representing Holy Spirit Parish. There are approximately 110 persons participating. The model most recommended is the integrated parish. All cultural groups are equitably and suitably served. There will be residual resentment on the part of the various groups, and some groups will need help embracing such integration. This process is propelled by a spirituality of hospitality, reconciliation, and mission. This model presents three major thresholds; welcoming, catholic identity, sense of belonging, and sense of ownership. Each threshold has movements or steps and requires certain communication competencies. The great majority of these parishes are "shared" by two or more distinct cultural/ethnic communities. The shared parish model strives to achieve a high level of ecclesial integration among its diverse members in a spirit of unity and diversity . By ecclesial integration, we mean that they are to be served in their language, when possible, and their cultural values and religious traditions are to be respected. Beyond that we must work toward mutual enrichment through interaction among all our cultures. May God Bless you. $1,263.53 Please note: *Until the closing of the month, all actuals are not final numbers. Fluctuations occur due to check returns, deposit corrections and online payments. We do not have classes every weekend. Our remaining class dates in English are February 22, March 1, March 8, March 15, April 12, April 26, and May 3. In Spanish, the remaining class dates are February 21, February 28, March 7, March 14, April 11, April 25, and May 2. There will not be anyone available if you show up at other times. Sky Zone: Sky Zone Waivers are due to the parish office by Sunday, February 1st. We will NOT be meeting at Holy Spirit on February 6th beforehand as a group. Instead, we will gather at Sky Zone in Fishers at 10:30 pm and jump from 11:00 until midnight. You can either stay at Sky Zone, or you will need to come back to pick up your child. Thank You, Holy Spirit Parishioners ! I would like to thank everyone at Holy Spirit for the support and encouragement you have given to me during my time as music director. I will miss many of the tasks I needed to perform but I will not miss the many hours (especially on weekends) that I was here. I also want to thank you for the Symphony Tickets you gave me for my retirement. They will be gladly used and appreciated. I am truly Blessed! You will always be in my prayers. Peace, Paula Slinger Disciples for Life Rally Parish Youth Council: We are looking to build a Parish Youth Council. Our Youth Council would be our Youth Leadership team in the parish and would help to plan our Youth Ministry Activities such as social activities (Kings Island, camping, etc.) and also be our Core Group of teens that would lead our retreats and attend youth ministry events and activities. If you are in High School and are interested in learning more about Youth Council, or would like to join, we will be meeting on February 7th from 11-1:00 in the Parish Center. A little over a week ago, a group from Holy Spirit went to the Archdiocesan Disciples for Life Rally at Saint John the Evangelist downtown. This was a rally to kick off March for Life pilgrimages to our Nation’s Capital where thousands rallied and protested the 1973 Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision making abortions legal in the United States. While there was not a group from Holy Spirit that went to the March for Life, there were at least a few High School students from Scecina Memorial High School that made the trip to pray and defend the most vulnerable among us, the unborn. On February 7th, there will be a Confirmation Day of Reflection. This would count as a Confirmation Retreat alternative if there are unforeseen scheduling conflicts for our parish’s Confirmation Retreat in August. Please check any fall sport or extracurricular activity schedules that your child is or will be involved in to see if there will be any scheduling conflicts. While at the Disciples for Life Rally, we were able to pray and sing with Steve Angrisano, who is a nationally acclaimed speaker and singer/songwriter for Spirit and Song. He led us in song, prayer, and gave us a witness to the power of the Lord. Later, we were able to participate in Eucharistic Adoration and hear from Father Rick Nagel, pastor of Saint John’s. All in all, we had a powerful and beautiful night to pray for the unborn and make a stand for life. We will be having a workshop to help those struggling to determine their Confirmation Saint Name. We will meet on Sunday, Feb. 8th from 12-1:00 in the Parish Center to work on finding the right saint for each candidate. This is not required or mandatory, but encouraged for those who need some additional help.
