Lenten Reminders
When you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you may not appear to be fasting, except to your Father who is hidden.
And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you. Mt. 6:18
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence.
What does it mean to fast? According to Canon Law, the law of fasting allows only one full meal or two small meals a day.
What does it mean to abstain from meat? According to Canon Law, the law of abstinence forbids the use of meat. Roman Catholics who are
14 years of age and older are bound to abstain from meat. Disabled or feeble, pregnant women and nursing mothers are exempt.
Why should we fast? The earliest and most often cited purpose of fasting is penance, that is, atonement for sin. Through fasting we
humble ourselves before God – setting aside that which sustains us and gives us pleasure – and turn ourselves toward our merciful Lord.

TOGETHER IN MISSION 2015
“Be imitators of me”
1 Corinthians 11
For 23 years, millions of people throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, and
Santa Barbara counties have benefited from Together in Mission’s
unique and impactful program. In 2014, Together in Mission supported
80 parishes and 63 schools from every region of the Archdiocese –
and we remain the only Annual Appeal in the country that dedicates
all proceeds to directly assisting parishes and schools. Your gift
provides parishes and schools with the resources needed for ministry
of the sacraments, a quality education, hope, inspiration, and stronger
families & communities.
The strength of the Church is not in numbers, but in love. Your
contribution, large or small, is the one that matters. God calls each
of us by name to support and care for one another. Answer the call
today and give generously to Together in Mission.
At our Masses on February 8th, we will offer more detailed
information and at our Masses on February 15th, we will participate
in Together in Mission Commitment Sunday. Working together
we can meet and exceed our 2015 goal of $50,000.00.
May God bless you in your generous support of this year’s Together in
Mission Appeal.
