Church, Concrete. We are two individual parishes and one mission church ministered to by our Pastor, Fr. Martin Bourke, with the
assistance of Parochial Vicar, Fr. Emilio Gonzalez. In addition to sharing clergy, the churches share Pastoral Assistant for Finance,
Jamie Cline ([email protected] or 360-391-7003). Fr. Martin and Jamie have their offices at the Immaculate Conception Parish
Center located at 215 N. 15th St. in Mount Vernon, Fr. Emilio’s office is at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish located at 719 Ferry St.,
Sedro-Woolley.

In today’s first reading, we hear Samuel respond eagerly, “Here I am!” each time the Lord calls him. May
we, too, be listening for the call of God in our lives and be ready to say like the psalmist, “Here am I,
Lord; I come to do your will.”

Receptionist Job/Position Opening
Effective from February 1, 2015, there will be a Job/Position open here at Immaculate Conception Catholic parish office,
215 North 15th Street, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
The position open for application is not the previous position of Parish Secretary. Administrative Assistant, rather it is a
newly created position of Parish Receptionist.
In my role as Pastor I felt the need to divide up some responsibilities. In the previous position there were two quite separate areas of work:
Dealing with all persons who came to the parish office, phone calls and emails, and
Business matters of record keeping, ordering of supplies and maintenance.
The second part demands concentration which is difficult with all the interruptions of the front office. Such matters are
more easily dealt with in a back office where one can gather one’s thoughts. In light of this, I first expect to fill the Receptionist position.
Application should be made to Fr. Martin Bourke, Pastor, in a simple letter of interest. It would be helpful to enclose
one’s credentials and any work experience. Of its nature the position requires a practicing Catholic.
Given that the parish is approximately half Spanish speaking, the candidate will need excellent fluency in English and
Spanish both written and verbal.
A tentative Job/Position Description can be picked up at the Parish office at the above address. Following the review of
any documents sent to the Pastor, interested persons may be invited to an interview conducted by Fr. Martin Bourke,
Ms. Jamie Cline, parish Accountant, and Ms. Denise Rhone, Administrator at St. Charles.
The deadline for application letters to reach Fr. Bourke is noon, January 27, 2015.

Tri-Parish Food Bank
The Cedars Retirement Community completed their second annual food drive and contributed a truck
load of food for distribution just before Thanksgiving. Food bank volunteers provided a holiday meal for
over 300 people who came to the food bank for regular distribution on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The Youth Group from Sacred Heart conducted a very successful food drive contributing a trailer
full of food for distribution. Lots of people helped feed the hungry in November. THANKS!!.

Catholic Schools Week begins Satur day, January 24. The school's Liturgical Choir will
sing at Immaculate Conception Church at 5:00 p.m. Mass. The rest of the week has the
following events:
Monday, January 26 - Parent Appreciation Day. Parents eat lunch with their students.
1:00 p.m. Spelling Bee.
Tuesday, January 27 - Adoration at 10:30 a.m. to Thank God for all He has given us.
Student Council thanks local police and fire fighters.
Wednesday, January 28 - Staff Appreciation Day.
Thursday, January 29 - Senior Appreciation Day - Mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch. Seniors are invited.

Friday, January 30 - Student Appreciation Day - Reptile Man Assembly and free dress.
Sunday, February 1 - PTO Pancake Breakfast at St. Joe's, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. - ALL ARE INVITED.
The PTO Pancake Breakfast (February 1) is also a fundraiser. The PTO is half way to their goal of raising $1,450
to bring the Pacific Science Center Science Van to ICRS!! We thank everyone who attended the Santa Breakfast,
and we hope to see you on February 1st!
SAVE THE DATE!!!
The 3rd annual dinner dance sponsored by the Capital Campaign Committee will be on Saturday,
February 14, from 6:00-10:00 p.m. This year we will be celebrating Mardi Gras since Lent begins the following Wednesday, February 18. We will serve salad, spaghetti with marinara sauce or
spaghetti and meatballs, bread and dessert with a cash bar. Advance tickets are $20 and a limited
number of tickets will be available at the door for $25 each. This year we will have a special
raffle item but you must be present to win. Once again we will have “Mike in the Morning” as
our DJ. All churches are invited. Tickets are available at the Immaculate Conception office or
contact Leslie at 848-8707.
A Much Belated Thank You To All Catholic Parishes of the Skagit Valley. I have been
overwhelmingly touched by the love and support I have received since being diagnosed
with cancer. Your help has made this difficult time much more bearable. Thank you to all
the CLOW and ICRS students for their cards, to St. Vincent de Paul, the Hispaniic
Charismatic Group and the Knights of Columbus for helping borrow or purchase medical
supplies needed and to everyone for all your prayers especially at my healing Mass. Your
continued support is greatly appreciated and be sure I am praying for all of you,too.

Collection for NORTHWEST CATHOLIC
Next week we take up a second collection for NORTHWEST CATHOLIC, the official publication of the Archdiocese of
Seattle mailed 10 times each year to every registered Catholic household in Western Washington. Its mission is to
proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and to educate and inspire disciples. A portion of this collection supports the
U.S. bishops’ Catholic Communications Campaign. Remaining funds are credited directly to parishes for the NORTHWEST CATHOLIC portion of their ACA responsibility. Please see the flyer in the bulletin for more details.
Every Life Is A Gift
Take the bus to Olympia on January 20 for the annual event that shows the legislators in Olympia
our support for pro-life issues. A donation of $10 per person or $25 per family will reserve your
spot. The bus leaves IHM Church in Sedro-Woolley at 8:00 a.m. and stops at Emmanuel Baptist
Church on College Way at 8:30 a.m. and will return at approximately 5:00 p.m. Bring your lunch,

The New Church: The
composite roof was finished last week and some
of the new windows have
been installed in the towers and over the East end
so the interior can be dried
out. Also, the concrete
veneer walls have been
poured and the bricks are
going up. The new cornerstone has been installed in
the South tower and the
old cornerstone will be
installed in the North tower. The domes are to be
assembled at Janicki and will be installed in late February. Tyvex
wrapping has occurred on the towers and front of the church. The
entire building will be wrapped in the next couple weeks. Framing was devised for placing the existing tabernacle into the backwall of the new church.
Another robbery was committed on January 7th, with several
thousand dollars worth of tools stolen. Remember, closed circuit
TV cameras help deter criminals, but do not prevent all theft.
Keep an eye on the site after dark.

We accept check, credit card or cash! All orders need to be in before Friday, February 20th, if you would like your brick to be
available for installation which is scheduled for mid or late
March!
Landscaping/Irrigation: We had 11 people show up on Satur day to help spread chips over our planting beds. We want to thank
Rigoberto, Peter, Monte, James, John, Jeff, Gary, Omar1, Omar2,
Melecio and Tom. Also, we need to keep an eye on the plastic
sheeting covering our dirt piles. We have had to move the sand
bags three times to keep it from blowing away.
Meetings: The Building Committee will meet on Monday, February 2nd, to discuss framing and ordering stone for the altar, ambo, tabernacle and its stand. We have a donor for the St. Joseph
statue from Italy and we have received an estimate to restore the
corpus on the Cabrini crucifix to its original condition. The Capital Campaign will meet on February 4th and plan for the Mardi
Gras fundraiser on February 14th and other fundraisers. As always, all committee meetings are open to everyone in the parish
and we are always looking for new ideas.

The St. Martin de Porres Men’s Clothing Collection continues through January 18th. A collection
box is in the vestibule of the church. Needed
are men’s warm winter clothing as well as the following items from the shelter’s “Wish List”: caps,
sweat shirts, pants and jeans, bathrobes, underwear, deodorant, disposable razors, flip flops/
shower shoes, travel-sized toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream), bath towels,
belts, reading glasses, ear plugs, etc.

En la primera lectura de hoy, escuchamos a Samuel responder entusiasmadamente, “Aquí estoy” cada vez que el Señor lo llama. Que nosotros, también, estemos escuchando en nuestras
vidas el llamado del Señor y estemos listos para decir como el Salmista, “Aquí estoy, Señor;
vengo a hacer tu voluntad.”
Desde el escritorio del Pastor:
Trabajo de Recepcionista/posición abierta
A partir del 1 de febrero de 2015, habrá un Trabajo / Posición abierta aquí en la oficina de la parroquia de la
Inmaculada Concepción, 215 Norte Calle 15, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
La posición abierta a aplicar no es la posición anterior de la Secretaria de la Parroquia. Auxiliar administrativo, sino que es un nuevo puesto de recepcionista aquí en la Parroquia.
En mi papel como pastor, sentí la necesidad de dividir algunas responsabilidades. En la posición anterior había
dos zonas muy diferentes de trabajo:
Atender a todas las personas que vinieran a la oficina parroquial, responder llamadas telefónicas y correos
electrónicos, y algo de administración como mantener los registros, pedidos de suministros y mantenimiento.
La segunda parte demanda concentración, lo cual es difícil con todas las interrupciones dentro de la oficina.
Tales tareas son más fáciles de tratar en una oficina apartada dentro del edificio donde se puede concentrar. A
la luz de esto, primero espero para ocupar el puesto de recepcionista.
Debe hacerse Aplicación al Padre Martin Bourke, en una simple carta de interés. Sería de gran ayuda que incluya información de cualquier experiencia laboral. Por su naturaleza, el puesto requiere ser ocupado por un
católico practicante.
Teniendo en cuenta que la parroquia es de aproximadamente la mitad de habla española, el candidato deberá
tener excelente fluidez en Inglés y Español tanto escrita como verbal.
Una tentativa descriptiva del Trabajo / Posición se puede recoger en la oficina de la parroquia a la dirección
arriba señalada. Tras la revisión de todos los documentos enviados al pastor, las personas interesadas podrán
ser invitadas a una entrevista realizada por el Padre Martin Bourke, La Sra. Jamie Cline, Contadora parroquial
y la Sra. Denise Rhone, Administradora de la Iglesia San Carlos.

El Banco de comida Tri-Parish
El asilo de ancianitos de la comunidad Cedars completó su segunda colecta anual de alimentos y
contribuyeron con un camión cargado de alimentos para su distribución antes de Acción de Gracias. Voluntarios del banco de alimentos, ayudaron a que mas de 300 personas pudieran tener su
cena de acción de gracias. El Grupo de Jóvenes del Sagrado Corazón, llevaron a cabo una colecta
de alimentos con gran éxito aportando un remolque lleno de alimentos para su distribución. Hay
mucha gente que ayudó a alimentar a los hambrientos en noviembre. Muchas GRACIAS !!.

Un gran retraso en dar muchas Gracias a las parroquias católicas del valle de Skagit. He estado abrumadoramente
tocada por el amor y apoyo que he recibido desde que fui diagnosticada con cáncer. Su ayuda ha hecho este tiempo
difícil mucho más soportable. ¡Gracias a todos los Clow y los estudiantes de ICRS por sus tarjetas, a San Vicente de
Paul, el grupo Carismático Hispano Jesús Divina Misericordia y los Caballeros de Colón por su muy grande ayuda
en tomar préstamos y comprarme suministros médicos necesarios y para todo el mundo por todas sus oraciones
especialmente mi Misa de Sanación. Su apoyo continuo es muy apreciado y estén seguros de que estoy orando por
todos ustedes, también.
Dios los bendiga incluyendo los maravillosos voluntarios que mantienen la oficina corriendo.

La colecta anual de San Martín de Porres de ropa de invierno para hombres se iniciará el 3 de enero. Las cajas
estarán en las entradas de las iglesias, tanto
de la Inmaculada Concepción como del Inmaculado Corazón de María. Necesitamos
ropa de invierno, calcetines, ropa interior y
artículos de tocador. Este refugio Católico
para desamparados en Seattle es para hombres mayores de 50 años. Se proporciona cama y comida a más de 100 hombres cada
noche. Hemos estado haciendo esta colección durante
los últimos 17 años.
La Semana de Escuelas Católicas comienza el Sábado, 24 de enero. El coro Litúrgico de la escuela va a cantar en la Iglesia
Inmaculada Concepción, en la Misa de las
5:00 pm El resto de la semana tiene los
siguientes eventos:
Lunes, 26 de enero - Día de Agradecimiento a los Padres. Los padres comen el
almuerzo con sus estudiantes.
Martes, 27 de enero - Adoración a las 10:30 para agradecer a Dios
por todo lo que nos ha dado. Agradecimientos al Consejo de Estudiantes, a la policía local y a los bomberos.
Miércoles, 28 de enero - Día de Apr eciación al Per sonal
Jueves, 29 de enero - Día de Agr adecimiento a la Ter cer a Edad Misa a las 10:30, seguido de un almuerzo. Se invita a todos nuestros
feligreses y amistades de la tercera edad. Por favor llame a la escuela
para confirmar su asistencia, al 428-3912.
Viernes, 30 de enero - Día de apreciación al Estudiante – asamblea,
y vestidura libre.

Colecta para el NOROESTE CATÓLICO
La próxima semana tenemos una segunda colecta
para el NOROESTE CATÓLICO, la publicación
oficial de la Arquidiócesis de Seattle, que se envía
10 veces al año a cada hogar católico registrado en
el oeste de Washington. Su misión es proclamar
las buenas nuevas de Jesucristo y educar e inspirar
a los discípulos. Una parte de esta colecta da soporte a la Campaña de Comunicación Católica
Episcopal de Estados Unidos. Los fondos restantes
se abonan directamente a las parroquias del northwest para que cubran parte de su responsabilidad
con ACA. Por favor, consulte el folleto en el boletín para más detalles.

siente la necesidad de recibir la Eucaristía, el grupo de

Nueva iglesia: El techo compuesto se terminó la semana pasada y algunas de las
nuevas ventanas se han instalado en las torres sobre el extremo oriental por lo
que el interior ya se podrá secar. Además, las paredes de chapa de hormigón se
han derramado y los ladrillos están instalándose. La nueva piedra angular se ha
instalado en la torre sur y la antigua piedra angular será instalada en la torre norte. Las cúpulas serán ensambladas en Janicki y se instalarán a finales de febrero.
La impermeabilización se ha hecho en las torres y al frente a la iglesia. El edificio entero será envuelto en el próximo par de semanas. El Enmarque ya fue ideado para colocar el tabernáculo existente en la pared posterior de la nueva iglesia.
Nuevamente Otro robo fue cometido el 7 de enero, con varios miles de dólares en
herramientas robadas. Recuerde, las cámaras de tv de circuito cerrado ayudan un
poco a disuadir a los delincuentes, pero no impiden que se cometan los robos.
Mantengamos un ojo en el sitio después del anochecer.
Ladrillos: Usted todavía puede pedir su ladr illo de la Oficina Par r oquial. Aceptamos cheques, tar jeta de cr édito o en efectivo!

Irrigación y Jardinería: Tuvimos 11 personas que se presentaron el sábado para ayudar a desparramar el bark en nuestras camas de jardinería. Queremos dar las gracias a Rigoberto, Pedro, Monte, Santiago, Juan, Jeff, Gary, omar1, Omar2, Melecio y Tom. Además, tenemos que mantener un ojo en las láminas de plástico que cubren nuestros montones de tierra. Hemos tenido que mover los sacos de arena
tres veces para que no se los vuele el aire.
