Kenan Center 100 American Craftsmen Poster Contest GENERAL The Kenan Center is seeking designs for the 45th annual 100 American Craftsmen show in 2015. 100 American Craftsmen is a juried show of fine contemporary craft art. The design should draw attention to this specific form of artistic expression. The winning submission will be incorporated into the design of the 2015 poster. The winning artist is expected to assist in the completed design of the poster to include additional text (dates, location, admission price, etc.) Design should include an unfilled “empty” space around the main design for text to be added. DESIGN GUIDELINES Students are encouraged to apply. Any medium is welcome including digital collage, photography, paint or drawing media. Designers should not use any photography from the craft show website (www.kenancraftshow.com) as we do not have permission from the craft artisans, and there is no guarantee that the artisans’ work will be in this year’s show. Stock photography of craft art may be used as part of the design, but should not stand alone as representative of the actual craft work in the show. Design can focus entirely on the numeral “45,”or “45th annual”; “100 American Craftsmen” and “Celebrating the art of craft,” (tagline) should be incorporated into the design. Other concepts to focus on are hand-craftsmanship or hand-made functional art; crafting materials or tools of such media as clay, wood, fiber, basketry, leather, glass, metal (as used by jewelry makers or metal sculptural décor). DEADLINE & HOW TO SUBMIT Digital submissions (PDF or JPG preferred) must be received no later than Friday, February 13, 2015. The artist whose work is selected will be awarded $100 in addition to the artwork being used on the poster and various other promotional materials. Artist will be credited in usage whenever possible, and will receive two comp tickets to attend the Preview Party on Friday, May 29.
