Vancouver International Auto Show Poster Contest Official Rules Event Overview th 2015 will mark the 95 Vancouver International Auto Show and see the event grow in size, importance to the industry and develop deeper connections with attendees and media. The show will take over the stunning Ballroom space at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, growing almost 70,000 sqft to nearly 300,000 total sqft. The Ballroom space, with its sweeping views of the North Shore mountains and water views will play host to many exotic manufacturers, highlight vehicles and displays, commercial vendors and all new lifestyle displays developed to engage all in attendance through themed vignettes. Literally everything is changing from graphics and website to outreach and event experience. The 2015 show promises to be an experience to enlighten, entertain and engage. Poster Project Summary th 2015 is the 9 year of the Auto Show poster contest. The intent is to highlight an artist that best captures the visceral appeal of the annual Auto Show, this can be achieved through explorations of the history of the industry or the change that lies ahead for the industry and the show. This winning submission will merge art and event. The selected poster is always presented as the winning poster in its entirety. It is not used as part of the Show paid advertising, without full consent of the artist, nor is any part of the winning design broken up to be used elsewhere. Eligibility: The contest is open to exclusively to any British Columbia resident artist. Entry limit: Two posters per artist. Entry Deadline: Entries must be submitted to the Vancouver International Auto Show, New Car Dealers Association of BC, 7010551 Shellbridge Way, Richmond, BC, V6X 2W9 on or before Friday, January 16, 2015. Winners will be announced the week of February 2, 2015. Design Requirements: Theme: Posters should have an automotive theme. Posters containing brand-specific vehicles will be ineligible. Copy: Posters should contain all of the following copy: "Vancouver International Auto Show 2015” "Vancouver Convention Centre" Optional, but strongly suggested: - web address: www.VancouverInternationalAutoShow.com Optional: VIAS logo Design background or rationale, as included information, is not essential but is helpful judging. Size: A judges version of the posters can be supplied mounted on presentation board or as a PDF file printed on tabloid size paper (11 x 17 inches). Finished size can vary, but 18’x24’ is the preferred maximum as it allows a fold-down for mailing. Media: Any mixed media suitable for reproduction as a poster is allowed, including computer-generated graphics. Winning entries must be supplied as print-ready PDF files. The grand prize poster winner must liaise with the chosen printer to ensure accurate file preparation and reproduction of final piece. Posters must be twodimensional. All posters must be original art - that of the artist or elements used with permission (or purchased with reproduction rights prior to offset printing). Winners: A panel of recognized representatives from the art and business community is selected at the sole discretion of the VIAS Show Committee. The judges’ decision is final. Winners will be announced in February 2015 and again prior to the opening of the Vancouver International Auto Show, March 24, 2015. The following prizes will be awarded: First Place award – winning poster $2,750 Second Place $ 800 Notwithstanding the foregoing amounts, the maximum sum that can be awarded to any one individual is the total sum of $2,750.00. In order to claim their prizes, winners must disclose suitable I.D. The sole financial consideration for the artist is the prize. Posters may be displayed at the Vancouver International Auto Show, reproduced in the official program and/or on the official VIAS Web Site, VancouverInternationalAutoShow.com, at the sole discretion of the New Car Dealers Association of BC. Rights: Artists retain original copyright with the understanding all winning entries are provided in perpetuity to the New Car Dealers Association of BC for the intent of promoting the Show and the poster aspect of the Show. The New Car Dealers Association of BC/Vancouver International Auto Show is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed posters. Except as used by the New Car Dealers Association of BC/Vancouver International Auto Show, all artists, including winners, will retain the rights to their work. Entry in the contest constitutes full permission to publish names and photos of winners without further compensation.
