HIMSS Emerging Professionals Call for Proposals Poster Presentation Submission
at HIMSS15 Annual Conference and Exhibition
HIMSS invites you to submit a proposal to present a poster session at the 2015 Annual HIMSS
Conference & Exhibition at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. The conference will be held April 12 – 16,
2015.
The Call for Proposals for a Poster Presentation will open on Monday, July 7, 2014 and close on Friday,
August 1, 2014 at 5:00pm Central Time. Late proposals will not be accepted.
Poster session topics will include:
• Clinical Decision Support, Public Health, and Population Health
• IT Interoperability, Standards, Infrastructure, Operations and Architecture
• Care Coordination
• Process Improvement, Workflow, Change Management
• Electronic Health Records

What is a Poster Session?
Poster sessions are designed in the vein of storyboards, using graphics, charts and other eye-catching
information posted on a 4’ x 8’ bulletin board to provide attendees with a more visual means to learn
about useful tools and successful case studies.
A poster session is a graphic presentation of project findings that displays graphs, charts, figures, photos,
or tables, and a small amount of text on a poster board (like a storyboard). The participant is invited to
prepare and post a visual summary of facts, experiences or opinions for viewing by conference
attendees. The posters will be grouped together in exhibition-style rows.
The poster format allows one presenter an opportunity to speak in a more informal environment,
standing next to your poster, speaking to smaller groups of people. The interaction is more personalized
to the questions of the attendee/reader.

Poster Presenter Benefits
Should your proposal be selected, as a poster session presenter, you will receive:
• Professional visibility
• 1 (one) complimentary registration to the 2015 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition*
• Presenters who are HIMSS members will receive 5 HIMSS advancement points
*The complimentary registration are non-transferrable, cannot be combined with other discounts. The
complimentary registration cannot be used for future conferences or other HIMSS events. Please note
that several authors may contribute to the poster session and technical paper development, but only
one complimentary benefit package will be granted per poster session.
Poster Sessions – A Valuable Programming Tool
A Poster Question and Answer session will be held during the week at the Annual HIMSS Conference.
The poster session presenter will be assigned a 45 minute timeslot where you will be available to answer
questions from the attendees. The time and day of your session will be sent to you at a later date. The
poster format allows presenters an opportunity to speak in a more informal environment, standing next
to their poster, speaking to smaller groups of people. The interaction is more personalized to the
questions of the attendee/reader.
Poster participants will have an area no larger than 4 feet tall by 8 feet wide to display information. The
posted material may include photographs, charts, bulletins, small signs, brochures, examples – anything
that can be tacked to a corkboard.
One of the more popular uses of poster presentations is to amplify and expand, in many directions, a
broad topic. A poster must be both interesting and attractive. Successful posters are simple, eyecatching, clear and concise.
Additional guidelines will be sent to those accepted through the Call for Proposals.
