Whiting/Robertsdale Faith Community Page 2 October 19, 2014 WORSHIP AND SPIRITUALITY On Tuesday, October 21, the Mission- aries of the Precious Blood celebrate the feast of their founder, St. Gaspar del Bufalo. He was a Roman-born priest who was a renowned preacher and an energetic organizer on a mission: he wanted to renew the Church and heal the world with the power of the Precious Blood of Jesus. He invited three other priests to join him in founding the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1815. Two hundred years later, his Missionaries—priests, brothers and lay associates—help carry his message, that the Blood of Jesus can energize, unite and save us. Let us get on our knees and PRAY in earnest for PEACE. “The spiritual power of the Sacraments is boundless. With grace, we can overcome every obstacle.” Pope Francis@Pontifex, Oct. 11 “Let us ask the Lord for the grace not to speak badly of others, not to criticize, not to gossip, but rather to love everyone.” Pope Francis@Pontifex, Oct. 7 We are reminded: “I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day. No one should think that this invitation is not meant for him or her, since “no one is excluded from the joy brought by the Lord.” The Lord does not disappoint those who take this risk; whenever we take a step towards Jesus, we come to realize that he is already there, waiting for us with open arms.” Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, The Joy of the Gospel, Libreria Editrice Vaticana, 2013, No. 3. “CAPS FOR KIDS” In October, the Peace and Social Justice Commission will be collecting new caps, gloves/mittens, and scarves for children in our community and in the diocese who are in need. COMING SOON “SHREK THE MUSICAL” In concluding our 86th anniversary year, Marian Theatre Guild presents the Northwest Indiana premier of ‘SHREK THE MUSICAL”, directed by Shelly Graves Crosby. Production dates are November 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16. The story line is...in a faraway kingdom turned upside down things get ugly when an unseemly ogre—not a handsome prince— shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up and a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand...and his name is Shrek. Full of all-new songs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery, “Shrek The Musical” is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and fun for everyone. Saturday after dinner show available. Box office opens October 20th 7-9:00 pm. 219-473-7555. A special ticket price, for grade school children attending the Sunday production only and accompanied by an adult, will be $6.00.
