“If indeed ‘the just ordering of society and of the state is in
central responsibility of politics,’ the Church ‘cannot and must
not remain on the sidelines in the fight for justice.” So writes
Pope Francis, quoting Pope Benedict XVI.
Our nation faces many political challenges that demand wellinformed moral choices:
* The ongoing destruction of a million innocent human lives
each year by abortion
* The redefinition of marriage
* The Excessive consumption of material goods and the
destruction of natural resources, harming the
environmental as well as the poor
* Efforts to narrow the definition and exercise of religious
freedom
* A broken immigration system and a worldwide refugee
crisis
*Wars, terror and violence that threaten every aspect of
human life and dignity.
As Catholics, we are part of a community with a profound
teachings that help us consider challenges in public life,
contribute to greater justice and peace for all people, and
evaluate policy positions, party, platforms, and candidates’
promises and actions in light of the Gospel in order to help
build a better world.

“Si bien’ el orden justo de la Sociedad y del Estado es una
tarea principal de la política,' la iglesia ' no puede ni debe
permanecer al margen en la lucha por la justicia." Así escribe

Nuestra nación enfrenta muchos retos políticos que
exigen decisiones morales bien informadas:
* La destrucción continua de un millón de vidas de inocentes
cada año por aborto provocado
* La redefinición del matrimonio
* El consumo excesivo de bienes materiales y la
destrucción de los recursos naturales, perjudicando el
medio ambiente como a los pobres
* Esfuerzos para restringir la definición y el ejercicio de la
libertad religiosa
* Un sistema de inmigración y una Crisis de refugiados
en todo el mundo
* Guerras, terror y violencia que amenazan todos los
aspectos de la vida humana y la dignidad.
Como católicos, somos parte de una comunidad con profundas
enseñanzas que nos ayudan a considerar los retos en la vida
