From the Pastor’s Desk
Del Escritorio del Pastor
Dear parishioners and friends:
As I watched the candidates for President debate and
campaign these past few weeks I thought to myself that both
major candidates could benefit from a dose of humility.
Humility is the central message of the Gospel this Sunday.
Our Lord says: “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and
the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Lk 18:9-14).
As I reflected upon the Gospel this week, however, and
examined my own conscience, I thought that Donald Trump
and Hillary Clinton are not the only ones who could benefit
from humility. We all can use a dose of this important virtue
(me included). A favorite prayer of mine is the Litany of
Humility. Do you worry constantly about what others think of
you? Do you feel empty or frustrated if you’re not the center
of attention? The litany of humility asks for our Lord’s
assistance in humbly following in His footsteps and casting
aside, or at least offering up to Him, all those nagging doubts
and fears that come with our self-centeredness.
Litany of Humility
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed, Deliver me, Jesus. (repeat
after each line)
From the desire of being extolled,
From the desire of being honored,
From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred to others,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the
grace to desire it. (repeat after each line)
That others may be esteemed more than I,
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I
may decrease,
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may
become as holy as I should.
Conclude the Litany with a Hail Mary. Our Blessed
Mother is the Model of Humility.
God Bless you and your family, Father Vince
Queridos feligreses y amigos:
Nuestra Madre
Santísima es el modelo de humildad.
Que Dios te bendiga ti y a tu familia. Padre Vicente

“...for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the
one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 18:14
Pride and ego is the root cause of most of our sins. Thinking
your time is so valuable, your talent is better than
anyone else and your money gives you status is another way of
making those things “gods” before God. Remember all those
gifts were God-given. Stewards are humbled by God’s
abundant generosity and have hearts filled with gratitude.

Did you know...
Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, almost 60
million abortions have taken place in the US. That means
abortion has affected millions of women and men. Both
men and women can experience after-effects of an
abortion, and many of them are not even aware of the
countless ways it is affecting their lives: these can include
guilt, anger, discomfort with children, low self-worth,
depression, grief, increased alcohol use and inability to
communicate. They may avoid people or places that
trigger memories of their abortion experience, or they
may have flashbacks of the abortion or dreams of the
unborn child. But they don’t need to keep suffering with
the effects:
There is HOPE and HEALING available to anyone
involved in an abortion through the Project Rachel
Ministry. If you or someone you know is suffering after
abortion, confidential non-judgmental help is available.
All trips include transportation and Hotel. Drawing date is Sunday
December 4 after the 11:30 a.m. Mass at St Luke Church.
The cost is $ 20.00 a ticket. Only 300 tickets will be sold.
Call Project Rachel's national toll-free number:
888-456-HOPE (-4673) or visit HopeAfterAbortion.org.
For tickets contact Chuck 856-784-1873 and Joe 856-812-8730.
