Steven Hoffman Captain of FoundersSpace
Steve Hoffman (a.k.a. CaptainHoff) is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, and the
Captain and Chairman of FoundersSpace. He has trained and educated hundreds of
startup founders around the world. Founders Space isranked a Top 10 Incubator in Inc.
Magazine and the #1 accelerator for startups coming to Silicon Valley from overseas in
Forbes Magazine. Hoffman’s angel investments include Content Analytics, wise.io,
AirPair, MeetingHero, BOXC, Red Clay, Mouth, Videopixie, CrowdCurity, Boostable,
Suitey, Solano Labs, Pathful, Hipcamp, Tablelist, Mavrx and more.
Hoffman is a founding member of the Academy of Television’s Interactive Media
Group, was Chairman for the Producers Guild SF, and served on the Board of Governors
for the New Media Council. Prior to this, Hoffman was the Chief Product Officer at
Playkast, an online video startup that merged with FunStar (backed by
AccelVentures&Qualcomm). Hoffman was COO of Zannel (Tap11), a venture‐funded
startup backed by USVP, Alloy, and Palomar Ventures that was sold to AVOS.
Before that, Hoffman was the North American Studio Head for Infospace, where he ran
the US mobile games publishing and development group. While in Los Angeles,
Hoffman was CEO of Spider dance, Hollywood’sleading interactive television studio,
whose customers included NBC, Viacom, Time Warner, TBS, GSN and A&E. Hoffman
also consultedfor R/GA Interactive, designing projects for Kodak, Disney, Intel, AdAge,
and Children’sTelevision Workshop. In Japan, Hoffman worked as a designer for Sega.
Prior to Sega, Hoffman was a Hollywood development executive at Fries
Entertainment, where he managed TV development. Hoffman graduated from the
University of California with a BS in Electrical Computer Engineering and went on to
earn a Masters in Film &Television from the University of Southern California.

Their mission is to bring the benefits of hotel‐style reservations to the industry by eliminating confusing contracts and payment processes, and replacing them with a simple reservation experience to help find and book the perfect place in minutes. Prior to his career as an entrepreneur, Bernat resided in Barcelona for 12 years during which he graduated with a degree in Geography at the University of Barcelona and worked at various IT companies. He then spent 2 years abroad in Torino, Italy, working at a governmental digital cartography agency. Bernat grew up on the island of Menorca, which has always remained close to his heart. In his words, " Menorca is the perfect paradise where I always want to go back  Manuel Salvadores, Co‐founder at Lexigram Manuel is a Software Engineering with a PhD in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University in Madrid. He has more than 15 years of experience as a Software Engineer and worked for 4 years at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Research before cofounding Lexigram. There is so much data out there that is providing such little value to our health. Manuel co‐founded Lexigramtotake medical data – from EHRs, doctor's notes, email, faxes, claims, and more – and produce intelligent summaries for doctors, software engineers, and data scientists.  Daniel Lopez, CEO at Bitnami Daniel is a 15‐year industry veteran and the co‐founder and CEO of Bitnami, which provides automated application deployments of server applications. He previously founded BitRock in 2003, and has held technical and leadership positions at Devicescape and Covalent Technologies. Jordi Torras, CEO and Founder of Inbenta Jordi started his entrepreneurial career in 1997 after drinking half a bottle of whiskey with his brother (who drank the other half). Together they founded SBD, a professional services firm in Barcelona. SBD grew to more than 200 consultants by 2004 and was acquired that year by the French firm Alten Technologies. Jordi then founded Inbenta in 2005 to help clients improve online relationships with their customers using revolutionary technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. The first beta version of the Inbenta Semantic Search Engine was released in 2010, thanks to an awesome team composed of linguists, software architects and customer care specialists. Daniel Poore is an Investor, Entrepreneur, and Electrical Engineerwith a 30‐year career
in hightech (hardware/software) and cleantech (founder/investor/executive), Technical
Sales, Sales Management, Business Development, and Executive Management
(VP/SVP/CEO).Dan is currently working on two stealthstart‐ups as investor and
BoardChairman, and focuses on doing social good (Double Bottom Line). He previously
worked as a Consulting Principal at companies such as Hewlett‐Packard, Sun
Microsystems, Netscape (exit ‐ IPO), AVCOM (grew sales from $30M to $300M), Solar
Power Partners (exit ‐ boughtby NRG). Daniel managed projects in CleanPowerFinance
(Google, KleinerPerkinsfunded pre‐IPO). He started a computer import business in
Brazil and speaks conversational Portuguese. He had two business failures (which
made for great learning experiences), three successful exits, and possibly a big 4th. He
raised over $15M in venture capital.

Whitney Hischier is a lecturer at the Haas School of Business in entrepreneurship as
well as faculty for the National Science Foundation’s I‐Corps program on rapid
commercialization. She works with executives, MBAs and undergraduates on
managerial, consulting and entrepreneurship skills. In her consulting and executive
work, she helps clients to commercialize new ideas both within large organizations as
well as with startups. Prior to teaching, Whitney served as Assistant Dean for Executive
Education at Haas School UC Berkeley for nearly a decade during which time she grew
the program by 10x and developed a portfolio of open enrollment as well as global
custom programs. Whitney started her career working in a startup company, and then
moved into management consulting for Deloitte, San Francisco, KPMG London and
ABN Amrobank in Amsterdam. She focused on change management, communication
and training aspects of global system implementations. Whitney holds a BA from
Stanford and an MBA from HaasSchool of Business Berkeley.

see the San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz
Island from this vantage point. Finally, we
will cross the Golden Gate Bridge.
