PASTOR’S CORNER
OCTOBER – THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY.
“The rosary defeats Satan.” (Pope Hadrian VI). “The
rosary is the eradication of sin, the recovery of grace,
the increase of God’s glory.” (Pope Gregory XIV). “The
origin of this form of prayer (the rosary) is divine rather
than human.” (Pope Leo XIII). “When lovers are together, they spend hours and hours repeating the same
thing: “I love you!” What is missing in people who think
the rosary monotonous is Love; and everything that is
not done for love is worthless.” “The Most Holy Virgin,
in these last times in which we live, has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the rosary to such an extent that
there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of
each one of us, of our families … that cannot be solved
by the rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter
how difficult it is, that cannot be resolved by the prayer
of the holy rosary.” (Servant of God Sr. Lucia Dos Santos of Fatima). “The family that prays together, stays
together.” “The one thing I want to do with my life is to
devote every minute of it to restoring the family rosary.” (Servant of God Fr. Patrick Peyton). These quotations are taken from the new book by Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, Champions of the Rosary – The HISTORY
and HEROES of a SPIRITUAL WEAPON. I can’t recommend this highly enough. It is available in our St. Marello Book Store. Fr. Calloway will be coming to our
parish on January 12, 2017. I highly recommend the DoIt-Yourself Retreat by Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC, 33
Days to Morning Glory. Start your retreat on November
3 or November 9 so that you can make your Consecration to Jesus through Mary on December 8 or December
12. The book is available in our bookstore.
Blessings, Fr. John
DOOR-TO-DOOR EVANGELIZATION, OCTOBER 15-21
St. Joachim Parish welcomes the Legion of Mary from
Los Angeles together with our local Praesidiums* in a
week of prayer and door-to-door evangelization, October
15 – 21. The Legion of Mary was founded by the Man of
the Rosary, Servant of God Frank Duff (1889 – 1980).
During the 20th century the Legion of Mary was so effective at bringing about conversions to Christ and spread so
quickly to every part of the globe that Mao Tse-Tung,
leader of the communist revolution in China, referred to
the Legion of Mary as “Public Enemy Number One.” *
The terminology of praesidium comes from the Roman
practice of protecting a particular area by maintaining a
fortified military garrison.

derrota a Satanás.” (Papa Adriano VI).
HISTORY and HEROES of a SPIRITUAL WEAPON.
