Dear Parent and Guardians,
The safety and security of our students and staff is always our first priority. There has been a recent
spike in creepy clown sightings and hoaxes. Several districts across the country have received
threatening emails or have been the subject of social media posts.
I have communicated with the local authorities in New Windsor, Town of Newburgh, and the City of
Newburgh. There are no credible threats to any NECSD school. However, with the advent of social
media, that could change quickly.
NECSD school officials have been informed that clown costumes will be prohibited in school
buildings this year. Please discourage your children from wearing a clown costume during Halloween
as they may become the target of violence. We want Halloween to be a festive time for our children.
We will continue to work with the police chiefs in each municipality and have the utmost confidence
that together we can keep our students and staff safe. Thank you for your support.

Estimados padres y guardianes:
La seguridad y la protección de nuestros estudiantes y personal es siempre nuestra primera prioridad.
Ha habido un crecimiento de apariciones de payasos que asustan y bromas de mal gusto. Por lo
mismo, varios distritos escolares alrededor del país han recibido amenazas por correos electrónicos o
por comunicación social. Yo me he comunicado con las autoridades locales en New Windsor, el
pueblo de Newburgh, y la cuidad de Newburgh. No hay ninguna amenaza creíble a ninguna de las
escuelas del NECSD. Sin embargo, debido a las redes sociales, esto podría cambiar rápidamente.
Los administradores de las escuelas del NECSD han sido informados que se prohibirán los disfraces
de payasos en nuestras escuelas por este año escolar. Por favor de disuadir a sus hijos de ponerse
disfraces de payasos durante “Halloween” o Noche de Brujas, ya que esto puede conducir a que sean
víctimas de ataques de violencia. Queremos que “Halloween” sea un tiempo festivo para nuestros
hijos.
Continuaremos trabajando con los oficiales de la policía en cada municipio. Tenemos la mayor
confianza de que juntos podemos mantener nuestros estudiantes y personal seguros. Gracias por su
