Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Tustin Tiller Days has been an annual event in the City of Tustin since 1957. It’s the same
year that our St. Cecilia Church was established. The three day festival celebrates Orange
County’s agricultural heritage while providing an opportunity for local non-profit organizations to promote their cause and raise much needed funds. Over the years, local civic organizations, schools, churches, and youth groups have raised thousands of dollars to benefit a wide
variety of local needs. No Admission Charge.
We have a booth from our Vietnamese Ministry Group selling egg rolls, fried rice…Please join
us at Tustin Tiller Days next weekend and buy the food to support the Church. The net proceeds will be designated to our St. Cecilia Restricted Building Fund for the new one-story Administrative Office and new two-story Parish Center. I am grateful to you for your constant
prayers and loving support for our St. Cecilia. May God reward and bless you and your family
abundantly.
Peace,
Fr. Bao

no sacrificios.

COME & SING WITH US!
ST. CECILIA’S MUSIC MINISTRY IS INVITING YOU FOR THE OPEN “TRY - OUT” PERIOD IN
SEPTEMBER! REHEARSALS ARE at 7 pm every Thursday in the Church.
St. Cecilia’s Music Ministry is inviting ever yone who loves music and can car r y a tune to join us dur ing
our “walk-in” open choir rehearsals period in September. This is an opportunity to try singing with the choir
without making a commitment for the whole year.
St. Cecilia Chorale sings at the 9 am Mass ever y Sunday. It is a ver satile, diver se gr oup of people joined
by their love for various styles of music from simple church tunes and traditional hymns, beautiful chants and
Renaissance sacred pieces, to up-beat contemporary song arrangements, folk music and spirituals. This choir is
a non-auditioned group, open to high school students to adults. The only requirement is the ability to match
pitch. Music reading skills are not required, but are always appreciated! Instructions and voice training are
part of the weekly rehearsals during the academic year on Thursday nights from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Chur ch.
Schola Cantorum Ensemble is announcing auditions for people with pr evious musical exper ience. It is a
small musically advanced group (9-12 people) comprising of adult, college, university and high school singers.
The group performs more challenging repertoire, therefore participation requires previous music training. The
ability to play an instrument is a plus. Schola rehearses every Thursday from 6 - 7 pm in the Chur ch, and
sings at the 11 am Mass once a month, on the second Sunday.
Both groups are led by Dr. Alina Artemova, Director of the Music Ministry at St. Cecilia Church. Alina is a
highly experienced musician and international performer, trained in the prestigious Tchaikovsky Conservatory
in Moscow, Russia. She has worked internationally as a choir conductor and soprano soloist, a recital singer
and pianist, and a university-college professor. Her students have been accepted to prestigious college/
university music programs, participated in professional choirs, and have been engaged by professional management, singing at various theaters in the US and Europe, including the Metropolitan Opera and Broadway in
New York, and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. She is currently an adjunct professor at California State University, Long Beach and Golden West College in Huntington Beach. She presents solo and orchestral recitals,
workshops and master-classes in Los-Angeles and Orange County, Russia and Europe, and most recently, in
Asia – in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition, she maintains a private voice and piano studio, and performs as a pianist/
organist/singer for various occasions, including wedding and funeral masses at church.
We are encouraging families, students and everyone who loves to sing, to contact Dr. Alina Artemova, either
by e-mail at [email protected], or by leaving your contact information in the parish office, or simply
by walking into the rehearsal.
Take advantage of our open rehearsal period through the month of September. You’ll enjoy it!
