City of St. Cloud announces Backyard Poultry Basics free class for residents

St. Cloud, Fla. (Sept. 26, 2016) – St. Cloud City Council approved Ordinance #2016-36 during a regular
meeting Sept. 15 at City Hall.
Ordinance #2016-36 amends City Code to include Chapter 8 - Animals, Section 8-2. - Number of pet
animals restricted and the replacement of Section 8-3. - Keeping poultry, domestic fowl in its entirety. This is
the City’s first chicken-keeping program and is based in part by existing programs in Orlando, Winter Garden,
Maitland, Bonita Springs and Longwood.
The ordinance introduces a two-year pilot program that will allow St. Cloud residents of single-family
homes and duplexes to keep up to four chickens in their backyard. One of the requirements is that the
applicant must take a class on chicken keeping. The University of Florida Extension Services will be offering
their “Backyard Poultry Basics” class free of charge to city residents. The class is scheduled for Oct. 5 in the
St. Cloud Community Center (Cypress Room) at 6 p.m. A class informational flyer and the registration form
are available online at www.stcloud.org.

básicas de aves domésticas

St. Cloud, Fla. (26 de septiembre del 2016) – El Concilio de la Ciudad de St. Cloud aprobó la Ordenanza
#2016-36 durante una reunión regular el 15 de septiembre en la alcaldía.
La Ordenanza #2016-36 modifica el Código Municipal al incluir el Capítulo 8 - Animales, Sección 8-2. Número de animales de compañía restringida y la sustitución de la Sección 8-3. - Mantenimiento de aves
domésticas en su totalidad. Éste es el primer programa del municipio del mantenimiento de aves y se basa, en
parte, por los programas existentes en Orlando, Winter Garden, Maitland, Bonita Springs y Longwood.
La ordenanza introduce un programa piloto de dos años que permitirá a los residentes de St. Cloud de
viviendas unifamiliares y dúplex a mantener hasta cuatro gallinas en los patios detrás de sus casas. Uno de los
requisitos es que el solicitante debe tomar una clase de mantenimiento de aves. University of Florida
Extension Services estará ofreciendo su clase “Fundamentos de Aves Domésticas” gratuitamente a los
residentes de la ciudad. La clase se llevará a cabo el 5 de octubre en el St. Cloud Community Center (Cypress
