Manassas, Virginia ALL SAINTS CATHOLIC CHURCH M ass I ntentions This year of 2016, our parish theme is I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, … plans to give you a future full of hope. Jer 29:11 All Saints is a tithing parish, giving of our time, talent, and treasure so as to give glory to God. Traffic Safety. There are some new signs for the access road between the church and the school/parish courtyard, which is a Fire Lane. There is to be no parking, standing, or stopping on the school side of the access road. The church side will permit the church buses to stop/park there during Sunday Mass, and for persons with disabilities to be dropped off and picked up. If you have children to drop off or pick up for the school or Religious Education, please follow their directives and park in the parking lot before bringing your children into the building. Thank you for respecting the safety of both children and adults. Note to those who attend 8:30 am weekday Mass: All Saints School Masses are normally on Fridays at the 8:30 am Mass during the school year. However, in order to more fully experience the saints and other prominent liturgical feast days, about once a month, we will have Mass on another day of the week instead of Friday. This is so our students are formed by the rhythm of saints’ days and seasonal days of the Church’s calendar. School Masses will be announced in the Sunday bulletin. Parishioners are invited to attend the school Mass and join with our school children in the worship of God in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Also, Seton School attends the Monday 8:30 am Mass. S ponsors N eeded : J ourneying to August 28, 2016 J esus Sponsors for those who are becoming Catholic. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) (or children) is the process for bringing adults and young people into the Catholic Church. Each individual in the program needs a sponsor. As a representative of the faith community, the sponsor is a companion on the journey to full initiation. Sponsors offer advice and encouragement and grow together with the person they sponsor as they share their faith together. There are many adults and young people who do not have someone in their lives to make that commitment. If you are interested or willing to share your faith experience with someone who wishes to join the Church, please contact the Religious Education office (703-393-2142). Samantha Welsh, Director of Religious Education, will be glad to speak with you about the program. This is to help families adapt to the new twoyear sacramental program. I mportant S acramental P reparation P rogram C hanges for 2016-2017 For this coming year, the Religious Education (RE) office has established a two-year sacramental preparation program. This means that children and teens who are receiving a sacrament will need to be enrolled in Religious Education class during their sacrament year and the preceding year. For example, a child who would receive First Communion in second grade in 2017-2018, would need to be enrolled in first grade for 2016-2017. This program will include the First Communion, Confirmation, and Christian Initiation sacrament preparation programs. 2016-2017: Program Transitional Year • This year, all children may be enrolled into their appropriate grade regardless of whether they completed a preceding year of religious education • Children who did not complete religious education classes for 1st grade or 7th grade will need to complete a transitional packet before they begin classes in September, 2016. This packet will ensure that the child has the adequate preparation they need as they approach their sacrament year. These packets are available in the RE Office. • Please note: If a child is scheduled to receive a sacrament in 2017-2018 they need to be enrolled into an RE class in 2016-2017 for their preparation year. More information about RE class sessions is available by calling the RE Office (703-393-2142) or on the RE Office website (w w w . a l l s a i n ts r e l i g i o u s e d u c at i o n . o r g ).
