STRAIGHT LINES
“God writes straight with crooked lines,” the
saying goes. The power of Paul’s testimony that
everything is junk but knowledge of Jesus and the
power of his resurrection is a straight enough
message. And, God knows, Paul had a crooked
journey before his blinding insight straight from
God.
Through Isaiah, God reminds us all that the
past great works were as nothing compared to the
new creation. “Can’t you see it?” we are asked, as
if we are still wandering along our crooked lines.
And there is no straighter line than that between the woman whose misery is intense and the
God whose mercy in Jesus is deeper and more
acute. You just can’t beat this kind of good news.

Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma
RENGLONES RECTOS
Nuevas!”

Laws of Fasting and Abstinence For Lent
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast. On days of fast, one full meal and two lesser meals are allowed;
eating between meals is not permitted. This law binds Catholics who have completed their 18th year until the beginning of their 60th year.
Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. On days of abstinence, meats should not be
taken
at any meal. Soups and gravies made from meat are permitted. The law of abstinence binds all Catholics
.
who have completed their 14th year.
Lenten Reflection: Based on the Jubilee of Mercy
Saturday March 19, 2016 at 9:30am
Silent self-guided reflection for adults and teens will take place in the
church with reflection questions at each station of the cross. Two quiet
rooms one for adults and one for teens with videos. Materials will be
both in English and Spanish. Younger children (under 13) will be cared for in the hall while parents prepare themselves for a busy Holy Week. The children will learn about corporal and spiritual works of mercy and will make bracelets to remind them of these through each day. They
will make decorations for the main church door and it will be designated as the Jubilee Door.
Please come and prepare for the holiest week of the year.

March Message of Mercy
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love he had for us, even when we were dead in
our transgressions, brought us to life with Christ (by grace you have been saved), raised us up with
him, and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come he might show
the immeasurable riches of his grace in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7)
