National Night of Prayer for Life
The National Night of prayer for Life will take place
on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception during
the Exposition of the Holy Eucharist on December
8th at 8PM through 1AM, December 9th. The Expostion will take place in the Church.
OLA Parish will unite with other parishes during this
time throughout America to pray to establish the
Culture of Life, restore God’s law and protect the
Church and the faithful from persecution.
A minimum of four people are required every hour
from 8PM to 1AM for the Eucharistic Adoration.
Sign-up sheets will be available after Masses or at
the Rectory.

OUTREACH CENTER
MINISTRY OF CONSOLATION
The mission of the Ministry of Consolation is to
walk with and support with loving care those
who are grieving for lost loved ones.
The Ministry of Consolation is looking for volunteers to help with funeral Mass preparations.
Duties would include:
-Contacting the bereaved family to
set up a meeting.
-Make decisions regarding reading,
music and preparations of gifts that
will take place during the Mass for the
deceased.
-Contact one of the cake bakers.
-Attend the funeral Mass.
*They are also in need of bakers*
If you can volunteer your time or baking talents,

HOMELESS INITIATIVE
Catholic and Christian Churches in the Town of
Babylon as well as Suffolk County officials have
begun an initiative to shelter homeless persons
this winter season. In order for our Parish to par-
ticipate in this ministry, a volunteer committee
must be formed. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Pam Fitzgerald at (516) 5512494 for more information.
Today is the first Sunday of Advent. The Christmas
“Giving” Trees are set up in the Church and the Auditorium adorned with ornaments for children and
seniors of our parish. Here’s the deal... you take an
ornament, purchase and wrap the present and then
SECURELY ATTACH THE ORNAMENT TO THE OUTSIDE
FRONT OF THE GIFT. Please return the gifts to the
bins in the Auditorium or Church or drop them off
at the Outreach as soon as possible but no later than
December 15th. May God bless you for your steadfast generosity.
P.S. Our food pantry is always open and the food
flies off the shelves. Anything that you would like to
donate is appreciated, but remember that toilet
paper, soap, laundry detergent and toothpaste is
considered a “luxury” to some, so those items are
especially appreciated.
Respect Life Contest
“Every Life is Worth Living”
The Diocesan Respect Life Office is excited to
announce the 14th Annual Youth Respect Life
Contest for grades 7-8 (Level ONE), and grades
9-12 ( Level TWO).
We welcome all Catholic youth in the Rockville
Centre Diocese attending Catholic elementary,
high schools or parish programs including religious education, Boy Schouts, Girl Scouts, youth
groups and youth choirs to participate. We encourage children with special needs to also participate.
All entries must be attached to the registration form, postmarked by December 15, 2015,
and mailed to the Respect Life Office.

FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
With the First Sunday of Advent today we begin the new liturgical year and, more specifically, the period of preparation
for the Lord's Birth. The whole Church, a pilgrim in this world,
sets out on her spiritual journey towards the awaited Messiah.
God is the "One who comes": he came among us in the person of Jesus Christ; he comes again in the Church's sacraments and in every human being who asks our help; he will
come in glory at the end of time. This is why Advent is
marked by watchful and active expectation, nourished by
love and hope, which expands into praise and supplication
and is expressed in concrete works of fraternal charity.
Preparing for the Lord's Birth means preparing to enter
through the Holy Door, the symbol of the passage to new
and eternal life, which Jesus Christ came to open to every
human being.
This accentuates the penitential dimension, already present
in the Advent season and vividly recalled by the person of
John the Baptist, who teaches, precisely, that the way of the
Lord is prepared by changing of one's mentality and life (cf.
Mt 3: 1-3).
Advent is the Marian season par excellence, because Mary
is the woman who awaited and welcomed the Son of God
made man in an exemplary way. May the Virgin Mary help
us to open the doors of our hearts to Christ, Redeemer of
man and of history; may she teach us to be humble, because
God looks upon the lowly; may she enable us to grow in understanding the value of prayer, of inner silence, of listening
to God's Word; may she spur us to seek God's will deeply
and sincerely, even when this upsets our plans; may she encourage us while we wait for the Lord, sharing our time and
energies with those in need.
Mother of God, Virgin of expectation, grant that the God-whocomes will find us ready to receive the abundance of his
mercy.

The Knights of Columbus-OLA Council will have available its annual Christmas Raffle tickets on the following Sundays after all Masses: Nov 14-29, and Dec 5-6. Only 250 raffles will be

K of C Christmas Parade and party will be held on Saturday, December 5th. The parade begins at 1:00pm at the Chase Bank on Great

ADVIENTO
La palabra Adviento, como se conoce este temporada, significa "llegada" y claramente indica el espíritu de vigilia y
preparación que los cristianos deben vivir. Al igual que se
prepara la casa para recibir a un invitado muy especial y
celebrar su estancia con nosotros, durante los cuatro
domingos que anteceden a la fiesta de Navidad, los cristianos preparan su alma para recibir a Cristo y celebrar con
Él su presencia entre nosotros.
Durante el Adviento los cristianos renuevan el deseo de
recibir a Cristo por medio de la oración, el sacrificio, la generosidad y la caridad con los que nos rodean, es decir, renovarnos procurando ser mejores para recibir a Jesús.
La Iglesia durante las cuatro semanas anteriores a la Navidad y especialmente los domingos dedica la liturgia de la
misa a la contemplación de la primera "llegada" de Cristo
a la tierra, de su próxima "llegada" triunfal y la disposición
que debemos tener para recibirlo. El color morado de los
ornamentos usados en sus celebraciones nos recuerda la
actitud de penitencia y sacrificio que todos los cristianos
debemos tener para prepararnos a tan importante evento.
En esta temporada el sentido de penitencia y sacrificio se
enriquece por la esperanza y el espíritu de fraternidad y
generosidad que surge de la alegría de que Dios pronto estará con nosotros.

La Jornada Nocturna Nacional de Oración por la
Vida se realizará en la Fiesta de la Inmaculada
Concepción durante la Exposición del Santísimo
Sacramento, el día 8 de Diciembre desde las 8 de la
noche hasta la 1 de la mañana del día 9 de
Diciembre. La Exposición será en la Iglesia.
Nuestra Parroquia se unirá con otras Parroquias a
lo largo de todo los Estados Unidos, a la misma
hora, para orar por el establecimiento de la Cultura
de la Vida, la Restauración de la Ley de Dios y por
la Protección de la Iglesia y los fieles, de
persecución.
Necesitamos mínimo 4 personas, cada hora desde las
8:00PM hasta la 1:00 AM para la Adoración de la

PREZENT NA ŚWIĘTA
W ten weekend w kościele oraz audytorium zostały
wystawione drzewka przyozdobione ornamentami
zawierającymi prośby o paczki na święta dla
uboższych osób z naszej parafii (dzieci oraz osób
starszych). Każdy ornament zawiera informacje na
temat osoby, do której ma trafić nasza paczka, a także
życzenie jaki ma to być prezent. Zaangażujmy się w tę
szlachetną akcję. Wasz dar może sprawić komuś
wielką radość na Boże Narodzenie. Pamiętajmy, aby
do ofiarowanego prezentu dołączyć ornament z
drzewka - dzięki temu będziemy mogli dostarczyć
prezent do właściwej osoby.
Prezenty można zostawiać w skrzyniach ustawionych
w audytorium lub w kościele lub bezpośrednio w
Outreach najpóźniej do 15 grudnia.

W sobotę 16 stycznia o godz. 19:00, w naszym
audytorium odbędzie się koncert karnawałowy
w wykonaniu zespołu Golec uOrkiestra. Będzie
to jedyny koncert w stanie Nowy Jork. Bilety do

Cena biletu:

The First Sunday of Advent
I have often thought that if we had a feast
in honor of God the Father, today, the first day of
Advent, should be the day!
Of the Father’s love begotten,
Ere the worlds began to be,
He the Alpha and Omega,
He the source and ending he . . .”
Today we begin anew the story of our
creation, salvation, and redemption, starting
with a reading from the prophet Jeremiah. “The
days are coming says the Lord, when I will fulfill
the promise I made to the house of Israel and
Judah.”
At the beginning of this new Church Year,
it is more fitting for a Catholic to make “New
Years’ Resolutions” than on January 1st!
Why not give it a try? Resolve to make
your Faith the center of your life. Make Sunday
Mass an event you look forward to. And follow
the seasons of the Liturgical year, so that next
year at this time you will have once more
experienced the story of the true reason for your
existence.
