Antilles Elementary School Art Department Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico School Year -2015-2016 Dear Parents: We are looking forward to a great school year. Working together We can help our children reach their maximum potential. I believe that every child is an artist and I don’t get tired of telling them this, even in the most difficult projects or situations. Like in any other class, every student needs some materials to keep record of what is done in class, to complete assignments, and to be evaluated. You might think that this is too much, but if you‘ve seen our art exhibitions at the end of the school year, you understand that for me Art class is a “serious business”. I expect every student to bring to the art class the following materials:          * Sketchbook – white paper, without lines, size 9” X 12” or 11” X 14”. Spiral binder lasts longer- pages won’t fall out. ( Very IMPORTANT to keep works ready in order to be evaluated) Please write student’s name on cover and class number. Regular pencil with an extra eraser Colored pencils and small sharpener Markers set of 16 colors Watercolor set of 16 colors Soft pastels set (only first grade through fifth grade) Oil pastels set 1 bag Wipes ( to clean hands) Recycled cloth bag to place everything inside( Please don’t use stores plastic bags, they usually break easily ) These materials are usually found in school supply stores, PX, Pharmacies, supermarkets, art stores and in big department stores. Some of the stores near the base are : Ofi- Arte, San Patricio Shopping Mall ( tel. 787-774-1080),any School supplies store,Walmart, Office Max, Walgreens etc.) The school will provide other materials used in the projects such as special paper, inks, ,charcoal pencils, tempera paint, acrylic paint, etc. If you have any problems obtaining these materials you can call me at the school, (telephone: 787-707-2370) or send a little note with your son/daughter. I strongly suggest to get the sketchbook (Art drawing Pad) the first week of school, because we will start drawing on the 2nd meeting. Students will be asked to show their sketchbooks to be evaluated from the beginning. They will take their art supplies with them at the end of the class, except for the sketchbook that I will keep in a safe place in the classroom. Thank You for supporting your child’s art class. Spanish : Favor the conseguir la libreta de arte desde la primera semana de clases, ya que comenzaremos dibujando desde el comienzo de clases. Los estudiantes deberan mostrar su libreta con los trabajos para recibir sus notas. Estos materiales son para la clase de arte solamente y no son los materiales que aparecen en la lista del salon de clases . Los estudiantes se llevaran estos materiales luego de terminada la clase de arte. Favor de escribir el nombre del estudiante y el salón de clases en cada material. La libreta de arte debe ser de papel blanco sin lineas..se consiguen hasta en los supermercados y farmacias, usualmente no pasan de $4. 00.
