Totus Tuus (totally yours) will be held at St. Pius X the week of July 12-17 for students entering grades 1-12. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow in the Catholic faith through a variety of fun and faith-filled activities. We are in need of two families to host the Totus Tuus team. You do not have to have a child in the program in order to help! This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with the seminarians and young women who have dedicated their summer to present this program throughout the diocese. The team needs two "host homes," one for the men and one for the women. Housing of team members takes place from their arrival Saturday evening, July 11 until their departure the following Friday afternoon, July 17. Each team will provide their own transportation to and from the parish. Host families can take on different shapes and sizes. Families with children, older adults, etc. are all potential host families. If you can help, or if you would like more information, please contact the Religious Education office at 630-627-1551. All parish children are welcome!! Lighthouse CD Spotlight The Hidden Power of Forgiveness Jeff Cavins unmasks the trap of unforgiveness that prevents so many from living in the freedom of God's peace and halts spiritual progress. He explains with clarity how forgiveness frees not only the one who is forgiven, but the forgiver. The importance of this is shown in Christ's words, "As you forgive others, so I will forgive you" Matt. 6:14. Includes free bonus segment from Anger and Forgiveness by Deacon Dr. Bob McDonald. CD’s are available in the Gathering Space for $3.00 each. Books, CDs, and DVDs can be picked up and returned before and after weekend Masses. Contact Barb Harazin to request one of these resources at [email protected]. Alternatively, books can be purchased from Amazon or Barnes and Noble, and are available in Kindle and Nook editions. Most of them can be borrowed from the Helen Plum Library via interlibrary loan. It is very important that these pledges be paid so that our parish will reach our goal. Once we have reached goal in paid pledges, 65% of the additional funds received will be returned to the parish for our use. Helping Scouts Learn about their Faith Are you willing to help Girl and/or Boy Scouts & American Heritage Girls in your parish or community earn their Religious Medals/Emblems? If so, the Joliet Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting invites you to attend a training session on Saturday, May 16th, from 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Blanchette Catholic Center (16555 Weber Rd. - Crest Hill, IL). For those interested in helping Boy Scouts, you need to purchase your workbooks at your council shop prior to the training and bring proof that you have taken “Protecting God’s Children” and “Youth Protection.” Those interested in helping Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls, workbooks need to be purchased through store.nfcym.org/shop prior to the training. Both courses run consecutively, so you need to choose ahead of time which training to take. The fee for the training is $2.00, payable that day. For more information or to make a reservation to attend one of the trainings please call 815-834-4012 by Monday, May 11th. PARISH GOAL: $62,767 AMOUNT PLEDGED: $52,993 AMOUNT PAID: $27,926 PLEDGES STILL NEEDED: $9,774 The CMAA funds the mission and ministries of our diocese. It also funds services that are of great help to the ministries here in our parish. Sometimes it is difficult to envision how one pledge can help an organization the size of our diocese, how it can make a real difference. But each pledge does make a difference, because all parishes participate in the campaign, and the gifts of many enable our diocese to deliver needed education, ministry, and services. Our combined gifts not only signify our gratitude to God, they glorify Him by enabling the work of our diocese. If you do not have your pledge form, there are blank ones in the pamphlet holder by the Mary Room.
