An angel bearing the seal of the living God demands that the land and sea not be destroyed; huge crowds stand before the throne of the Lamb crying out that salvation comes from God; angels gathered round and praised God; an elder questions John and explains that those dressed in white Are the ones who have survived the great period of trial. Second Reading: 1 John 3:1-3 Once again John speaks to us of love. He points out to us the great love that the Father has for us by allowing us to be called children of God. John explains that the world doesn't recognize us because it never recognized Jesus. Our future will be revealed to us and in that light we shall see him as he is. Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12a When Jesus saw the crowds of people he went up to the mountainside gathered his disciples around him and began to teach them. This lesson in love has come to be known to us as the great "Sermon on the Mount" or "The Beatitudes.” WEEKLY READINGS ALL SAINTS Sunday Rv 7:2-4, 9-14; 1 Jn 3:1-3; Mt 5:1-12a Monday Wis 3:1-9; Rom 5:5-11 or 6:3-9; Jn 6:37-40 Tuesday Rom 12:5-16b; Lk 14:15-24 Wednesday Rom 13:8-10; Lk 14:25-33 Thursday Rom 14:7-12; Lk 15:1-10 First Friday Rom 15:14-21; Lk 16:1-8 First Saturday Rom 16:3-9, 16, 22-27; Lk 16:9-15 Classroom Aides Needed CCD is seeking volunteers (adults and youth) for our Traditional Monday Program after school Mondays from 3:30 - 5:00 pm. As many of you know, our parish assembles and distributes baskets of food for the hungry and the needy here in Madison. Baskets are also sent to St. Agnes parish in Paterson as well as agencies in both Paterson and Newark. You can help in several ways. Prepare a basket (a sturdy box or laundry basket makes a great basket) consisting of frozen turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, fresh fruits and vegetables, condiments and desserts – all of the “fixins” for a Thanksgiving dinner. Please pledge a basket by taking a tag from one of the cornucopias around the altar. Each tag represents a specific family or individual. Detailed instructions for the preparation of the basket will be printed in a future bulletin. Volunteer on Monday, November 23 to help assemble, collect and prepare baskets for distribution. Volunteer to deliver baskets – locally – on Monday, November 23 between 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. We can really use the assistance of the men of the parish for this. Please bring a flashlight!
