From The Pastor’s Desk
In today’s Second Reading:
We are asked to follow the
ways of Christ and not of the
world but, that you should put
away the old self of your
former way of life, corrupted
through deceitful desires, and
be renewed in the spirit of
your minds, and put on the
new self, created in God’s
way in righteousness and
holiness of truth. EPHESIANS 22-24
Time to recharge
As the summer is a time to
re-charge our bodies it is also
a time to re-fresh our souls. It
is a time to reflect on
Scripture, maybe reading a
passage such as this reading
for Ephesians, and then take a
gently meditative walk on the
beach. Or maybe pray the
psalms and sit in the backyard
after dinner relaxing with a
gentle breeze and the stillness
of the evening. Sometimes
prayer can be just quiet time.
Just listening and asking the
Lord to speak to us is a
starting point! In any
relationship we have to invest
time. Why not spend some of
this time refreshing your soul
with the beautiful comforting
words:
The Lord is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall want; in
verdant pastures he gives me
repose, by restful waters he
leads me; He refreshes my soul!
PSALM 23
Catholic Ministries Appeal
Two weeks ago we
watched the Catholic Ministries
Appeal Video. As I mentioned,
a picture is worth a thousand
words. Thanks to all who have
helped by making their
pledges. If you have not yet
made a pledge we do
encourage you to consider it.
Remember as we make our
CMA goal, the funds pledged
over the goal will come back
to the parish in a significant
rebate. 80% of what is
received over our goal of
$76,000 comes back to Saint
Rosalie’s for our local
programs such as our Food
Pantry and Seminary
Formation.
Recent Summer Prayer
Experiences
July 9 we hosted an
evening with Anthony and
Barbara Fuina, whose healing
of illness assisted St. Pio’s
canonization. It was a
wonderful evening. We also
planned a Youth Vigil of
Prayer which lasted until
about 1 a.m.
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 22 St. Mary Magdalene
Day
We celebrated the gifts of
women in the Church. Thanks to
Marion Boden and her
volunteers, for all their efforts.
Pat McDonough who currently
works with the Jesuit
cooperative was the keynote
speaker, with a beautiful
reflection on our experiences
of “the Empty Tomb”.

s much as we are sad
to have had to let
Seminarian Mike leave
us, we have been
blessed by his presence and what he
accomplished while he was here.

prepare accordingly.
Although we have a great couple
of weeks left of summer, I know we
will be needing Catechists for our
upcoming RF season, September
2015- May 2016. Each year
peoples’ lives involve change which
causes changes in our needs in the RF
program. If you are interested and
feel a calling to give your time to be
a Catechist, either on Sunday
mornings, Monday or Tuesday
afternoons, please either call or
email me or just talk to me when we
see each other. The program we use
makes it very easy to accomplish the
task.
Reminder to Catechists who are
returning, we have scheduled a
required annual Catechist meeting on
Monday, August 27 at 7 p.m. or
Tuesday, August 28 at 10 a.m. If you
have not contacted the RF office to
let us know when you plan on
attending, please do that soon.
May I suggest to all that you visit
a website, daily if you wish: The
Catholic Company/ Morning
Offering. It is a very simple way to
get some Catholic thoughts and
information to start your day. It will
only take about three minutes, but
you might carry it with you for many
hours!
May your summer days give you
all you need to live in peace.
Recognize the blessings in each day!

A sentirnos hijos. Hijos amados.
