Josefin nace en Suecia en 1988. El mismo año muere su tía Augusta
La Torre en Perú. Ella y su esposo, Abimael Guzmán, crearon Sendero
Luminoso, iniciando en 1980 una guerra que duró 20 años contra el Estado.
Durante toda su vida, Josefin había escuchado hablar de su tía Augusta
como una heroína revolucionaria. En 2011 Josefin viaja a Perú por primera
vez en su vida para investigar la verdad. En Perú se encuentra con una
familia campesina que ha vivido el conflicto de cerca. Ellos acusan a la familia
de Josefin de la guerra que mató a un miembro de la familia. Lo que Josefin
descubre conociendo la familia y Perú le cambia la vida para siempre.
Josefin grew up in Sweden with a family myth about how her Peruvian aunt
Augusta died in armed struggle for the poor in Peru. Augusta La Torre created
the violent maoist guerilla Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) together with
her husband Abimael Guzman. They initiated an internal war that lasted
nearly twenty years and still profoundly marks Peru. Josefin defies her family
and travels to Peru to find out the truth. She gets to know a peasant family
that became victims of the war Augusta initiated. Despite the conflict Josefin
develops a deep relationship with the family. It changes her life forever.

el reconocimiento internacional con su
premiada trilogía peruana (La Otra Orilla,
1992; Compadre, 2004 y Familia, 2010).
Ha ejercido todos los oficios adentro del
cine documental. También es fotógrafo,
escritor y enseña cine documental al escala
internacional.

Mikael Wiström is active as documentary
director and producer since 1982. He has
gained international recognition through his
award winning Peruvian trilogy (The Other
Shore, 1992; Compadre,2004, and Familia,
2010 ). He is also a documentary stills
photographer, author of documentary books
and international lecturer on his subject.
