STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK
OF NOVEMBER 16/REFLEXIÓN DE LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD PARA LA SEMANA DEL 16
DE NOVIEMBRE
“Well done my good and faithful servant.” With those words the master
in Jesus’ Parable of the Talents smiles and rewards his servant. We often
cite the Parable of the Talents in relation to stewardship. Because of our
understanding of “talent,” we may assume that this is a parable about skills
and those kinds of gifts.
Of course, in this case, a “talent” is a unit of money. Scholars assume that
the master is wealthy; therefore, whether one received five talents, two
talents, or one talent, they most likely received a huge amount of money
according to our standards. That is not the stewardship perspective of this
parable. Each of us, just as the three servants in the parable, has received
multiple gifts from God (the Master). The question posed by Jesus, and the
question we must be prepared to answer at our own judgment, is “What
have you done with the gifts you have received?”
Everything we have and everything we become are gifts from God. Like the
stewards in the parable, we have been given gifts. Do we develop those gifts
and do we share them, or do we “bury” them and really do nothing with
them? Those who do the former, return them with increase to the Lord,
are not only complimented, but embraced and invited: “Come share your
master’s joy.”

Debido a
Esa no

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,/
Queridos parroquianos y amigos de Nuestra Señora de Fátima,
Today we are asked to make a commitment to God and the Church. Some of you
received cards in the mail and others may need to get one near the church entrance.
These cards represent in a small way your relationship with God. It’s not uncommon
for us to make such commitments in other relationships. We might make a commitment to call our mom once a week or spend more time writing letters to distant
friends. We make commitments to groups and organizations, like the Rotary Club or
Parent Guild.
Please take this opportunity to really challenge yourself. Just as the other commitments
in your life sustain you, I can assure you, that turning to God and trusting in Him, will
bring more joy and contentment into your lives.
God bless you all!
Fr. Jim
Padre Jim

The overwhelming response was to start the Sunday evening Mass
in English at 5pm. In fact many expressed interest in starting the
Saturday evening Mass at 5pm as well, but we will just make one
change at a time.

NOVEMBER 16
Today in Matthew’s gospel, we hear the parable of the
talents. Like the servants in this story, each of us has been
entrusted with gifts from God that we are to receive with
gratitude, nurture responsibly and return with increase.
Like the faithful servants in the gospel, using our gifts in
this way involves some risk. And what does God promise
us in return? Joy!
1. What gifts from God do you recognize in yourself?
2. How can you use these gifts in the service to others?
3. What prevents you from using these gifts?
October Mass Count 2014/
Conteo de Misas de Octubre 2014
Some of you may have noticed a person counting the people at Mass
during the month of October. We do this every October to gauge if
we are growing or shrinking or staying the same. We also send this
information to the Diocese, who combines it with the other parishes
and sends it to Rome.
Listed below are several years of data for Our Lady of Fatima. We
attribute the steep decline to when construction on the new hall
began. We have steadily been growing since it was completed.
Agradecidamente, hemos
estado creciendo constantemente desde que se completó.

On Thanksgiving Day morning we are gathering as one community to
give thanks to God by celebrating a Bilingual Mass together. Another
name for the Mass is Eucharist, which is a Greek word that means “to
give thanks.” It will be an opportunity for us to also share the blessings
God has given to us with others.
OLF in conjunction with Mission Hospital hosted a free flu clinic on
November 5. It was a great success and 131 flu vaccines were administered to the underserved in our parish and community. Thank you to
