SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY Congratulations to Miguel Valderrama & Yolanda Carrillo United in Holy Matrimony on: February 7,2015 “The Human Person Becomes a Gift in the Freedom of Love” Saint John Paul II MEDITATION ON THE STATIONS OF CROSS Every Friday During Lent 7:00pm in the Main Church February 20th & 27th March 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT First Reading: Genesis 22:1-2, 9a, 10-13, 15-18 God ordered Abraham to take his beloved only son to Moriah and offer him as a sacrifice. Abraham built an altar and took out a knife to sacrifice his son Isaac. But God called out to him and told him of blessings that would be bestowed on him and his descendants because he had been willing to do what God had asked. Second Reading: Romans 8:31b-34 Paul reminds the people that God did not spare his only Son, but gave him up for the sake of all people. This proves God views us all as his children, and that no person can harm or condemn us because God will protect us. Gospel: Mark 9:2-10 Jesus led Peter, James and John up a high mountain, where he conversed with Elijah and Moses. A voice proclaimed ‘This is my Son, my beloved. Listen to him.” Then Jesus was alone and warned them not to tell anyone what they had seen until he had risen from the dead. The period of lent is a time for testing. Like exams in school, or annual physical checkups, they assist us to determine our knowledge, our professional competence, and our physical health. This time of prayer allows us to focus on our spiritual health and well being. How well am I with God at this moment? Are there areas for improvement. Am I complacent or content just to sit back and do nothing? Can I be truly honest as I hold my spiritual medical report in my hand? What areas in my relationship with others needs some remedy? Is there someone who needs my love, care and concern? Is there some area of fragmentation I should attend to, and not just sweep under the rug? Abraham passed the test with flying colors. Lent is the time the Lord places before us to make our needed improvements. Our father in faith, Abraham, like our heavenly Father responded generously. I can use this time of lent to do the same. In the long run, I will benefit. SAINT JOSEPH NOVENA March 10th through March 18th 7:00pm in the Church SAINT JOSEPH FEAST DAY March 19, 2015 Dear parishioners of Saint Joseph, You are cordially invited to our Multicultural Dinner on March 19, 2015 after 7:30pm Mass. If you would like to collaborate please contact the Parish Office. May the Lord bless your generosity with numerous blessings. Thank You. 7:00pm Mass (Main Church) Multicultural Dinner after Mass in the Gym. All are invited LENTEN PARISH MISSION (ENGLISH) Sunday March 22nd , Monday March 23rd & Tuesday March 24th Time: 7:30pm-9:30pm Location: Main Church Almighty and Everlasting God, You have given the human race .Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility. He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man and giving His life on the Cross. Help us to bear witness to You by following His example of suffering and make us worthy to share in His Resurrection. Mary, Mother of Jesus, you were Jesus gift for us from the Cross. He gave you to us as our mother. Intercede for all our needs. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen. Merci.
