Mis Buenos amigos,
Se siente como la Navidad aquí en Blessed
Sacrament! El desayuno con Santa fue un éxito
tremendo. Creo que Santa regresó a su hogar bien
contento
y
listo
para
trabajar
en
sus últimos
juguetes para
los
niños.
Aun yo tuve
una foto con
Santa
(y
pobre Santa conmigo y mis 220 libras en sus rodillas).
Esta semana vamos a empezar una nueva tradición
con la comunidad de Cypress Hills. Siempre los líderes
civiles encendieron las luces de un árbol allá por
Jamaica y Euclid. Este año, Rafael Espinal (y su
contacto para con nosotros es nuestro buen amigo
‘Roopesh’) pidieron iluminar a Cypress Hills con un
árbol aquí en nuestro jardín. Pues, el jueves de esta
semana, espero que vengan todos de la parroquia para
dar una bienvenida calorosa a todos nuestros vecinos –
protestantes, musulmanes….a todos!!
Y mejor que un árbol navideño, o un regalo
especial, o una buena fiesta…es un corazón renovado.
Esta semana, las confesiones extras se ofrecen el lunes
de 4-8pm. Y recuerden que mañana, lunes, debes de
poder entrar y encontrar en todas las iglesias católicas
de New York un sacerdote (durante esas horas) para
una confesión.

Adiós al Padre Joaquín: Ha sido, otra vez, un
placer gozar de la presencia del Padre. Esta semana, el
padre regresa a España. El Padre Joaquín es un
sacerdote especial, y un buen amigo. Esperamos que el
año 2016 sea una pura alegría para ti, padre. La
parroquia de Blessed Sacrament te ama.
El aniversario de 125 años: El Padre José ha
trabajado mucho con las preparaciones de este
acontecimiento. Pero quisiéramos solo compartir la
información necesaria para ustedes empezar tus planes.
El costo de cada ticket es de $125. Habrá guaguas
para transportación de ida y vuelta para Douglaston. Es
una noche maravillosa de música, comida, vino, bailar,
cantar, amistad, y Espíritu. Vamos a planear una noche
que, en otros 125 años, ellos hablarán de nosotros!

día 20 de diciembre a las 4:00 de la

en honor a La Virgen de
Guadalupe la celebrará el Padre Jorge
Garay. La misa sera acompañada por un
Mariachi. Después de la misa habrá una
procesión. Procederemos al auditorio de la escuela
donde disfrutaremos un rato de entretenimiento tipico
Mexicano.

My good friends,
It certainly feels and looks a lot like Christmas
around here! Breakfast with Santa was a smashing
success. Thanks to our wonderful Principal and her
incredible staff of Blessed Sacrament Academy, Santa
went back to
the
North
Pole really
refreshed and
ready for his
f i n a l
preparations.
Just look at
the pictures

breakfast with Santa!
I hope everyone will try to be with us this week as
our Councilman Rafael Espinal (and of course his right
hand man and our friend Roopesh) light up the Cypress
Hills Christmas Tree. That’s Thursday night right here
in our garden.
While Cypress Hills usually lights the tree up by
Jamaica and Euclid, we were thrilled when Roopesh
suggested that our garden might be a better location for
all. We therefore welcome everyone…all our brothers
and sisters of all different faiths..to light up the
neighborhood Christmas tree. Please come out as a
family to extend a warm welcome.
And again, more than parties and hot chocolate and
gifts, a renewed heart will bring you a merry
Christmas. Do your best to pray a bit more, and to
make a confession.

Extra
confessions:
This week, our extra
confessions will be held on Monday from 4-8pm. In
fact, you should be able to go into any Catholic Church
on all of Long Island and within the five boroughs of
New York City and be able to find a priest for
confession.

What a pleasure to
have had the service and presence of a fine priest.
Father returns to Spain this week. Godspeed, Father,
and we’ll see you soon. May 2017 be an excellent year
for you! Blessed Sacrament loves you!!!
125th anniversary: Father Jose has been working a
great deal on our great feast. While much more is
being planned, the date is approaching quickly. We
want to put out the information necessary for you to
at least begin to plan.
On Saturday, Feb. 13th, we will celebrate a solemn
mass at 4pm. Then comes the party! If you would
like, busses will be available to take us to and return
us back from Douglaston. The cost of the ticket is
exactly the same as the anniversary…. $125.
The church is not making any money off of this
night (except for some chances to be sold that night.)
Our anniversary is a night of great food, drink, music,
song dance, friendship and Spirit. Please start to talk
to your family and friends about possibly taking a
whole table (tables are of 10). Let’s make this a night
that they will talk about for the next 125 years!
Thanksgiving Thanks: Many thanks to all our
parishioners, school families and religious ed
program families who donated canned goods to help
us provide for our needy families. Also, a special
thank you to Pablo Espinal, the Knights of Columbus
Long Island Council 197, Cypress Hills Cemetery,
Cypress Hills Child Care Corp., State Senator
Addabbo, the boys of our scouting program and the
volunteers who work hard all year in our pantry.
