WHAT IS CONVALIDATION?
In layman’s terms, what does this mean and what does it
mean to a couple who has been married outside of the
Catholic Church and now wishes to have the marriage
“blessed” by the Church? A couple who has married outside of the Church has entered into an invalid marriage.
This couple now needs to present themselves, as a couple, to the parish priest, and needs to demonstrate that
they entered into the non-canonical marriage without
malice or deception. The couple needs to show that they
truly are penitent of their misunderstanding and misdeed
and that they desire the bond that “by its very nature is
perpetual and exclusive” and through which they are
“strengthened and, as it were, consecrated for the duties
and dignity of their state by a special sacrament” (Canon
1134). The priest, believing the intention of the couple,
now has the right and ability to dispense the “canonical
form” and validate the marriage, bringing it into proper
validity and liceity with the Roman Catholic Church.

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus is compassionate and merciful to all who call
upon Him. Who among us would not welcome a
miracle? While we can look back in time and see
the miracles of the past; it may not be so easy to
see those in our own day. It takes faith to be able to
recognize miracles. It requires taking time out of our
busy schedules to pray and contemplate God’s
actions in our world. There are miracles occurring
today, we have only to believe in order to see.

O God, throughout the ages you have called women and men to
pursue lives of perfect charity through the evangelical counsels of
poverty, chastity, and obedience. During this Year of Consecrated
Life, we give you thanks for these courageous witnesses of Faith
and models of inspiration. Their pursuit of holy lives teaches us to
make a more perfect offering of ourselves to you. Continue to enrich
your Church by calling forth sons and daughters who, having found
the pearl of great price, treasure the Kingdom of Heaven above all
things. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and
reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,

The Peter's Pence Collection has raised nearly $190 million to support our suffering brothers and sisters
around the globe. Thank you for standing in solidarity with the Holy See through your generosity. Please continue to
pray for our brothers and sisters in faith who are facing adversity.
The national collection date this year for the Peter's Pence Collection is the following of June 27-28, 2015.
TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
The premier poet of the English language, Geoffrey Chaucer, introduced one of his most beloved characters, the “Wife
of Bath,” by this telling remark: “Husbands at church door she had five.” Four times widowed, she was setting off on a
pilgrimage, notably without number five. The church door is a curious detail, pointing to the fourteenth-century wedding
custom of marrying on the porch of the parish church. The goal was to give maximum publicity to the consent of the
groom and bride, and so consent was moved from the bride’s home to a public venue. The priest would stand in the
doorway and begin by sprinkling the couple with holy water. He needed to make sure they weren’t too closely related
and give them some instruction. He would direct the groom to pay the bride’s family a dowry, and then announce the
monetary amounts to the interested passersby. Only then would the guests enter the church for the wedding Mass, during which the bride and groom would hold lighted candles. The gradual move from home to church and the shift from
the bride’s father to the priest’s authority helped to protect the freedom of brides who weren’t quite as confident as the
Wife of Bath.

THE EUCHARIST: HOLY COMMUNION
PART HC - 1
In this lesson, we will study the Eucharist as
the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
So, it is important to note that whatever we
say about the Eucharist, especially as Holy
Communion, demands our acceptance of
the truth that it is first of all the Real Presence of Christ,
Our study of the Eucharist: Holy Communion
will consist of five (5) parts:
1. An explanation of what we mean when we
say Holy Communion.
2. The four (4) essential elements that are
required for the sacrament.
3. The three (3) levels of action of the Sacrament.
Introduction to the Catechism
of the Catholic Church
INTRO C C - 04
Before we continue with our study, let us first
learn the meaning of evangelization and
Christian doctrine.
Evangelization comes from the early Greek
Good News
sharing
It came to mean the manmand to go make disciples of all nations and
to observe what He had commanded. Evangelization proclaims Christ and elicits a global
adherence to the Gospel of Christ.
Christian doctrine means any truth taught by
the Church as necessary for acceptance by
the faithful.
The truth that Christians learn as they develop
in their understanding of the Faith are lumped
together under the general heading of Christian doctrine.
With these distinction in terms, we can now
look more closely at how they fit together, especially catechesis and evangelization.
TO BE CONTINUED
4. The importance of both frequent and early
Communion.
5. The question of intercommunion.
Our Learning Goals
When we finish our study of the Sacrament of
Holy Communion, you will be able to do the following:
Explain the meaning of vertical and horizontal communion of the Eucharist.
List the four (4) requirements for the sacrament.
Describe the three (3) levels of action in this
sacrament.
ing on intercommunion and the age that the
Sacrament should be administered for the
first time.
Before we start our study of the Eucharist:
Holy Communion, let us first learn some important words and phrases:
Eucharisticum Mysterium - (Instruction on
the Worship of the Eucharistic Mystery) issued by the Sacred Congregation of Rites
practical norms which will show the Christian people how to act in regard to this Sacrament.
Inaestimabile Donum - (Instruction on Certain Norms Concerning Worship of the Eucharistic Mystery) issued by the Congregation for the Sacraments on April 3, 1990
contains extensive regulations regarding the
celebration, administration and worship of
the Eucharist.
Intinction - the liturgical practice of dipping
the consecrated Host into the Precious
Blood in distributing Holy Communion.

Summer Safety – Monitor All Programs (VIRTUS® Online Bulletin Featured July 17, 2006)
As part of the evaluation process of potential programs for your children in addition to questions about the
content of the program and what the children will be doing, ask the program administrators a series of
questions that include the following:
· Was a criminal background check conducted on all adults participating in the program in any
capacity? If so, did the process include fingerprinting? If not, why not and what is being done to
assure that it is safe to entrust children to the people hired to work in the program?
· Were everyone’s references checked to find out about their previous work with children and
young people?
· Have you (the program leadership) established monitoring and behavioral standards and
communicated the standards to everyone involved to ensure that expectations of them are clear.
Do they understand what will not be tolerated?
· How will children be allowed to communicate with parents while at the program? Are there
restrictions on cell phones or calling home and, if so, what steps are being taken to assure that
these restrictions do not have the effect of creating a “safety zone” for predators?
Take time to find out how the programs are set up and how they are monitored. For example:
· What is the ratio of adults to children in the program?
· What is the policy about being alone with a child?
· How will the activities be monitored to assure that the policies are enforced and the children are
safe at all times?
· If not currently in place, will child safety policies be developed and in place before the program
begins, and how can parents get copies of the policies?
· What are the guidelines for parents, guardians, and caretakers who want to drop in and check to
see how things are going?
· Are any activities conducted offsite
and if so, how are these activities conducted?
· Are children ever isolated with an adult and, if so, how is the situation monitored to assure the
safety of everyone involved?
Be willing to refuse to allow your child to participate in or to remove your child from programs—even ones that the child
likes—if the appropriate standards are not established, if you discover that the program is not enforcing these standards, or not following their own rules about how things are to be "monitored."
Sometimes parents rely on the reputation of a particular program from past years to determine whether they allow their
children to participate. These historical perspectives from other parents and young people should always be a factor in
the decision making process. If you find that the monitoring and screening processes in place are inadequate to assure
your child’s safety, do not let the “reputation” of the program or it’s apparent success be the guiding principle for
whether your children are allowed to participate.
"Remember that these are the programs and the people that you are entrusting with your most precious"
"gift from God—your children."

(Continued from last week’s bulletin...10 Reasons to Choose NaProTECHNOLOGY)
Reason #6: NaProTECHNOLOGY is usually more affordable for couples than IVF
Many health plans don’t cover ART, or they have very limited ART coverage, so many IVF/ART costs are out-of-pocket.
One cycle of IVF alone can cost $10,000-$15,000. On the other hand, many NaPro patients are able to achieve pregnancy with Medical NaPro alone (without any surgical intervention), resulting in significant cost savings. For those who
may require Surgical NaPro, the combined physician’s and hospital’s fees are usually still less expensive than IVF/ART.
In addition, most NaPro treatments are covered by health insurance, because NaPro focuses on diagnosing and treating the cause of the infertility, in addition to helping the couple get pregnant. You can see a list of insurance plans that
we accept by visiting this website www.mysticalroseobgyn.com/payments
Reason #7: NaProTECHNOLOGY pursues conception in a manner respectful of the dignity
of a baby’s life
Unfortunately, IVF often manipulates and destroys life in its attempts to create it and acheive a live birth. For example,
11,262 live births that resulted from IVF procedures in England were reported in 2005; however, 191,000 embryos were
created to bring about these 11,262 live births. That means only 5.9% of the created embryos resulted in live-birth
deliveries. Most embryos are frozen if they are not immediately implanted. If they are no longer desired by the couple
who created them, they are often manipulated and destroyed for scientific research, or thawed and discarded without
burial. Even if a particular embryo is thawed for implantation, it may still be screened out and discarded for any perceived weaknesses or anomalies. Finally, when triplets or higher are conceived, many IVF doctors will recommend
aborting one or more of the babies to try to decrease the complications associated with higher numbered multiples
(called selective abortion, or selective reduction). On the other hard, NaPro completely avoids the issue of “frozen
babies,” and when multiple gestations do occur, NaPro utilizes various protocols to help couples bring the pregnancy to
full term, without selective abortion.
Reason #8: NaProTECHNOLOGY respects and promotes the marriage relationship
By assisting couples in conceiving children through their natural sexual relationship, NaPro helps couples keep their
marriage healthy and intact by keeping their life-making sexuality tightly interwoven with their love-making sexuality.
Unfortunately, ART separates the married couple’s fertility from their intimacy, and the “technology” involved in ART
devalues the act of marital intercourse.
Reason #9: The only “ethical” concern with NaProTECHNOLOGY is picking a baby name!
ART raises a whole host of ethical problems that involve either destroying a person’s life or attacking human dignity
and sexual integrity, including masturbation, abortion, use/disposal of frozen babies, surrogate pregnancy, gender
selection, financial manipulation of gamete donors or recipients, genetic manipulation in attempts to conceive the “perfect baby,” and more.
Reason #10: NaProTECHNOLOGY does not offend religious convictions of the patient
IVF and several forms of ART are expressly forbidden by several religions. NaPro is universally acceptable, however,
because conception occurs through normal intercourse and the new baby is treated with the full respect due to all
human life.
Why is NaproTECHNOLOGY Better than ART?
It is more effective, healthier, safer,
more affordable, ethical, and it respects
the dignity of the couple and any children they may conceive!

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
11
We have a very good chance to stop
this bill, but we need your help TODAY!
Please visit www.AHardPill.org to send an email and/or make a phone call
to your Assembly member, urging a NO vote on SB 128.
Why oppose SB 128?
• Sends the Wrong Message: Legalizing suicide for the terminally ill, while
discouraging it for the rest of the population, teaches that the lives of the ill
and disabled do not matter to our society.
• Will Worsen Patient Care: Patients in other states, like Barbara Wagner
in Oregon, are being denied treatment prescribed by their doctors, and
instead offered drugs for assisted suicide.
• Will Increase Non-Terminal Suicide Rates: Suicides skyrocket when assisted suicide is legalized. Oregon's suicide rate for non-terminal people increased 49% after assisted suicide became
legal.
Finally, please join us in prayer to stop SB 128
humana sea bienvenida y querida, valorada y
defendida, desde su concepción hasta su
muerte natural.Todo esto te pedimos por la
intercesión de San Juan Pablo II. Amén.
Prayer to Stop Assisted Suicide
O God, source of all life and hope,
look kindly on our brothers and sisters facing
the end of their lives , fill them with the hope of
your mercy and give them peace and comfort.
We pray for our California Legislators, who are
considering legalizing assisted suicide, inspire
them to protect the lives of the elderly, the infirm
and the disabled. Renew our commitment to
building a community where every human life is
welcomed and wanted, valued and defended -from conception to natural death. We ask this
through the intercession of Saint John Paul II.
Amen.

SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN DID YOU KNOW?
You can help children prepare for
natural disasters
When parents and caregivers or other family members deal with crisis situations
calmly and confidently, children feel more
confident and secure. A child’s reactions
are influenced by the behavior they see.
The better prepared you are, the more reassuring you
may be during an emergency. To help prepare your family, develop a disaster plan and assemble a supply kit. For
more information and emergency preparedness tips, visit
