Respect Life News
Fetal Development of Joseph ~ week 35 ~ Joseph’s immune system is really beefing up. Joseph will be ready to fight
infections and illnesses right after birth. The amniotic fluid has reached its peak so he has lots of padding.
Joseph’s skull is pliable and soft, ready for delivery. I’m going to decide when I will be born. Mom feels she has to go to
the restroom frequently – the pressure is on. “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation…all things
were created through him and for him.” (Colossians 1:15Ǧ16)

The Prayer Blanket Ministry is dedicated to the sick of our
parish family through the prayerful construction of blankets,
shawls and rosaries. The blankets, shawls and most of the
Rosaries are handmade, and everything is made with love
and prayers for the recipient. God always knows
who that person may be. All blankets and shawls are
donated and accompanied by a bi-lingual packet of
prayers, rosary and religious medals.
Our next meeting is Friday, November 20 at 10am in the
Parish Hall. May all praise, honor and glory be to
Jesus Christ, Our Lord!

The Power of a Simple Gift: 'Operation Christmas Child’ (OCC- The Shoe Box Ministry)
is a 'global Christmas gift exchange' project by Samaritan's Purse, a non-denominational evangelical Christian
humanitarian organization working worldwide to assist people in need. Each November OCC collects shoeboxes
filled with toys, school supplies, personal items, and other gifts. These simple but powerful boxes are handed out in
more than 130 countries bringing joy to many children in desperate need, who have little hope and many times even less love.
Please help by packing on of these life-changing Shoe Boxes. Remember the work of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:33 where
Jesus exemplifies the second great commandment of God. At this time of year and with that parable in mind, it is appropriate that
we take part in this project by preparing a ShoeBox gift for a child in need. Your ShoeBox means more than just smiles and
laughter; they open the door to share the love of Jesus Christ. Contact Patricia Shouse at (919) 269-8448 for more information and
details on how you bring Christmas joy to a child. Please visit the website at http://www.samaritanspurse.org/occ and check it out.
ShoeBoxes will be collected November 14/15 and 21/22 and must be in by November 22. Thank you!

“Feed-A-Family” Food Drive Comes to St. Eugene ~ Did you know that Catholic Parish Outreach food pantry
gave a week’s worth of groceries to an average of 10,500 people / month in 2014? Next week
volunteers will be handing out grocery bags with an attached shopping list. Please help CPO serve the less
fortunate in our community by taking a bag and returning it on of November 21st and 22nd.
Some other interesting CPO stats:

I'm so excited that it's almost time for Children's Christmas Choir again!
We will start a little differently this year, but I am still trying to keep the time commitment to a
minimum ~ I know time is especially precious this time of year!
Children (ages 7 and up) are invited to sign-up after all English Masses the weekends of November 14/15 and 21/22. After parents
fill out some brief information (Child's name, parent's email etc.), your child will be given a packet of all of the music we will be
singing, and a rehearsal CD with all of the songs- so they can listen and learn ahead of time. Children who sing in the choir will
also have the option of being among the angels in the Gospel Pageant.
Rehearsals are in the music room (Trailer 4) on Saturdays from 1PM until 2:30PM on December 5, 12, and 19. It is not mandatory
that you attend all three, but it is strongly recommended. The Children's Choir leads the music at Christmas Eve Mass at 4PM.
I hope to see everyone from last year and maybe some new friends too? See Jennifer in the choir area after the English Masses.
Knights of Columbus sponsor our “Angel Tree” again this year. Please visit our table the
weekends of November 28/29 and December 5/6 and pick up your Angel Tree tag. Please return
your wrapped gifts by Sunday, December 13. Thank you for your generous support!
Ladies Guild Christmas Cookies
Looking for a Christmas gift that tells someone that they are special? Then the Ladies Guild
Christmas cookies are just what you are looking for!! For only $5 you can purchase a box of two
dozen festive homemade cookies made by our very own parishioners!
November 7-22: All BAKERS please sign up.
November 21-December 6: All BUYERS please place your orders.
December 12-13: Cookie orders ready for pickup after all English Masses.
The Ladies Guild thanks all bakers and buyers for their generosity and support over the years
and it is our hope that you will support us again this year. For more information or to sign up

In 2002 the Bishops of the United States promulgated
the Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth
People. Since that time the Diocese of Raleigh has
educated over 23,000 adults on how to recognize and
report child abuse and neglect. If you would like to
gain these skills as well, please attend a
Safe Environment Training. For a schedule of safe
environment training sessions, go to
http://dioceseofraleigh.org/offices/child-and-youthprotection/calendar. This training is required for all
clergy, employees and those in leadership positions
with children and youth.
Estar Atentos A Un Mundo Nuevo
Be Alert To The New World
Trigésimo Tercero Domingo Del Tiempo Ordinario
(Daniel 12:1-3; Hebreos 10:11-14, 18; Marcos 13:24-32)
(Daniel 12:1-3; Hebrews 10:11-14, 18; Mark 13:24-32)
When you know a person well, you know how to read the
signals they give. If you live a long time with a person you
learn to interpret their signs, actions and gestures often
without the need to say a word. In a relationship, these
signals are important because they provide leads as to what
must be done and what should be avoided to improve the
relationship or avoid conflicts. If we apply this reading to
the signs and prodigies of heaven, we could easily conclude
that the world is really coming to an end. There are
earthquakes, all types of catastrophes, destructive
atmospheric phenomenon, wars… Exactly all the signs that
announce the end of the world. If we are in a true
relationship with the living Christ, however, we can view
the reading somewhat differently. If all these signs are
present, then perhaps it is to make a new world. It will be a
new world when we are attentive to the Word of God and to
each other; work for peace in our homes; when we pray as a
family; sacrifice ourselves for the good of others in our
surroundings; and when our kindness brings joy, trust and
peace. This will surely be a new and different world. The
Kingdom of God will commence to be established. The
rest, or the world as we know it, will end although Jesus
tells us the day and hour are unknown. Our mission is to
work with God so the world can become just as he want it.
And because we love him, we know how to read what he
desires.
Para la reflexión ~ ¿Qué cosas de mi propio mundo debo
cambiar? ¿Cuánta atención presto a mi cónyuge y a mis hijos
para saber de que maneras tengo que cuidar la relación? ¿Qué
sacrificios estoy dispuesto a hacer por los demás?

For Reflection ~ What things in my world do need to change?
How much attention do I pay to my spouse and children so that
I know just how to care for our relationship? What sacrifices
am I willing to make for others?
