“Keep the commandments.” How much clearer can that be? Yet the rich man says, “Which ones?” There are Ten
Commandments, and he wants to know which ones, as if there is a choice. Time for the hammer, rich man! Get ready!
Jesus said, “If you seek perfection, go, sell your possessions and give them to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Afterwards, come back and follow me.” Matthew said it was too much for the rich man and he went away sad.

MEET OUR NEW PRINCIPAL
My name is Sheila Levesque and I am honored to serve as Principal for the St. Michael Catholic School family. Having attended and graduated from parochial school, I am very excited to return to my roots.
I was born and raised in Watertown, Massachusetts. Italian was my first language. My own Catholic education had me attending Rosary Academy, where I received my first Holy Communion and then attending St. Patrick Catholic and graduating from there. I attended the University of Massachusetts, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree. I earned my Master’s Degree of Elementary Education at Cambridge and my Administration licensure at Wingate University.
I began my education career in North Carolina as a math teacher for Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools,
where I was awarded a grant from the Mecklenburg Area Catholic School Education Foundation and presented it
at the NC Math Conference.I joined Union County Public Schools in 2006 and transitioned from the classroom to
serving as Assistant Principal at Monroe Middle School and most currently at Weddington Elementary. I served
as the Special Needs Administrator, World View Representative, attending the yearly World View conference at
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and served on a number of advisory committees. I served as the
ClassScape administrator, and 1:1 laptop administrator. Other responsibilities included dispute resolution, staff
recruitment and retention, integration of technology, campus safety, team building and instructional support. I
have facilitated professional development in the areas of Balanced Literacy, Dyslexia and struggling readers, Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), teacher evaluation and observation, teacher coaching and modeling, and Exceptional Children’s processes. I recently completed the Future Ready Leaders program at University of North Carolina in Charlotte. I am committed to staying current in educational initiatives and resources. I am passionate
about global education and striving to make sure that students are global thinkers and learners.
I reside with my family in Union county. In addition to a career that I love, I have been married to my husband Brian for 22 years and am the mother of two wonderful children. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, traveling, pottery and spending time with my family. I have been
a faith formation teacher at St. Matthew Catholic Church

LATIN
If you have ever been moved by
the beauty of the Mass parts in
Latin, or been drawn in by Mass in
the Extraordinary Form, or simply
want to get to know the language
that has given us half the English
words we use every day, St.
Michael's is hosting a Latin class
with you in mind. John Welsh, St.
Michael’s Middle School Latin
teacher, will be offering his enrichment class in Church
Latin this Fall to begin to satisfy
your curiosity and show you the
beauty of Latin from the inside.
Venite et videte! Come and see!
This class is open to all interested parishioners (and their friends!)
from ages 9 to 99, and will meet
once a week on Wednesdays from
9:30 to 11:00.
LATIN I FOR BEGINNERS
Mr. Welsh is also offering a second and more challenging Latin
class for anyone wanting to go
deeper into Latin. This second
class will be more demanding—
the equivalent of a high school
Latin I course. It will utilize a high
school level text in Church Latin,
The New Missal Latin, and require a
greater commitment of time outside the classroom.
This class is open to anyone
from the Eighth Grade and up. No
previous experience with Latin is
necessary or required. It will meet
once a week on Mondays from
9:30 to 11:00. Homeschooling families looking to earn credit for Latin
I are particularly encouraged to
attend.
If interested in either class,
speak to Mr. Welsh or contact him
at [email protected] or call
704-853-9394.

Tiempo Ordinario
Marcos 6, 30-34. Tiempo Ordinario.
No
Dirigiéndose a
San Pedro: «toma el pan y se lo da, y lo mismo con el
pescado.” (Jn. 21,13)
los creyentes : "Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter", i.e.
Jesús Cristo hijo de Dios Salvador. (ver el discurso del
emperador Constantino , “Ad coetum Sanctorum” c.
xviii.)

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Baptisms are held at 2 pm on Saturdays. Baptism is the
most important moment of our life. Infants should be baptized in the first few weeks. Parents AND godparents must
attend the preparation class (held every 2nd Saturday)
preferably before the child is born. Parents need to be
registered in the parish, pledge to raise the child as a practicing Catholic, and must also be practicing the faith by
attending Holy Mass every Sunday. Godparents are considered Catholic role models. Therefore, they must have
received all sacraments, including Confirmation, and must
be attending Holy Mass every Sunday. If they are married,
they must have received the sacrament of Holy Matrimony
in the Catholic Church. Please come to the parish office to
register for the class and bring a copy of the child’s birth
certificate when it becomes available.
SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY
Couples should make an appointment with the priest at
the time of engagement, and at least six months before
any proposed wedding date to begin preparations. All
Weddings are celebrated inside the Church on Saturday at
10 AM or 12 pm.
