It is that God loves us — all of us. And, He wants us to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will call upon Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all will come to share His joy. The Divine Mercy message is one we can call to mind simply by remembering ABC: CLERGY Fr. Jim Ries, Pastor [email protected] / ext. 111 What is the Divine Mercy?/ ¿Que es la Divina Misericordia? 9am-12pm; 1-6pm 949-492-4101 w e lco m e to our lady of fatima parish 1.Ask for His Mercy. God wants us to approach Him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon the whole world. 2.Be merciful. God wants us to receive His mercy and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to extend love and forgiveness to others just as He does to us. 3.Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive. This message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God’s mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had begun to spread. To learn more about the Divine Mercy please visit www.thedivinemercy.org. APRIL 12, 2015 / 12 DE ABRIL, 2015 f r o m o u r pa sto r , fr. James C. Ries Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,/ Queridos parroquianos y amigos de Nuestra Señora de Fátima, He is Risen! He is Risen indeed! Today we were told of the experience the Apostles had when Jesus offered them Peace. This was not just some kind of saying hello gesture, this was, in a way, giving part of Himself to them. This was part of the reason for changing the words at mass. For many, the Sign of Peace at mass, is more of time to say hello to all your neighbors, “Hey, how’s it going!” But really this part of the mass is much more profound. It is a time for us to center in on what’s about to happen. We’re about to receive Jesus! It’s written that we should leave our gifts at the altar and find our brother or sister and reconcile with them before returning. This peace we are offering is deeper than a simple hello. Maybe the person we need to reconcile with is in the same pew, but most of the time they are not, so the person next to you becomes a proxy for the ones you offended or hurt. In this way, whoever we are offering peace to becomes the person we are asking for forgiveness and hope the best for them. Peace be with you. Thursday Night Confessions at 7pm: April 23 (picnic tables at end of parking lot by the pier) God bless you all! Fr. We think, “If only we could encounter the flesh and blood Jesus as the first disciples, our faith would be stronger.” How many times though, do miss seeing him in the everyday experiences of our lives – in creation, in our work and in our relationships? Trusting that the risen Christ is ever present in our midst, we will see him in those moments. 1.What experience of Jesus have you had in your life? What experience of Jesus have you had in the last week? 2.When have you experienced God’s mercy? When have you shown God’s mercy? ¿Cuándo has mostrado misericordia de Dios? Tómese un momento para revisar las lecturas de este domingo [Hechos 4: 32-35; 1 Jn 5: 1-6; Jn 20: 19-31] o verlas en línea en http://usccb.org/bible/readings/041215.cfm STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 12 / REFLEXIÓN DE LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD PARA LA SEMANA DEL 12 DE ABRIL “The community of believers was of one heart and one mind.” For those who practice stewardship as a way of life every passage from Holy Scripture contains a stewardship message. However, today’s readings are particularly special in that regard. The first reading from the Acts of the Apostles speaks to the sense of unity and teamwork of the early Church. Our own parishes may reflect this idea that we are one, and that we have a common purpose. One of the great misconceptions of this particular scriptural passage is that it reflects what we might term a “sense of Communism.” However, as we as Catholics and stewards reflect upon this, we must understand a basic difference. Communism says “What you think is yours is really mine.” Our faith, our community, and our good stewards say, “What may seem to be mine is really yours.” “No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own.” This is the stewardship understanding that, first and foremost, everything comes from, is gifted by, and is possessed by God, not by us. In addition, stewards understand that all their gifts are to be shared with others. The key to this entire passage is, nonetheless, that the early Christians regarded people as more important than things. As difficult as this may be for us, that is to what we are called, as well. Read more at www.thecatholicsteward.com.
