DID YOU KNOW…?
The Easter triduum begins with the evening Mass of the
Lord's Supper, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil, and
closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday. The season
of Lent ends on Thursday of Holy Week. Then the Church
remembers the death and resurrection of Jesus during the
Easter Triduum. These three days are the most important
time of the Church year.
The Liturgical Colors On Holy Thursday for the Mass
of the Lord's Supper, white is used to signify the joyful
events this liturgy recalls, the Eucharist and the institution
of Holy Orders. Red for the Good Friday liturgy signifies
the passion and death of Jesus. For the Easter Vigil, white
signifies the joy of Christ's resurrection. Gold may also be
used since this is the most important and joyous
celebration of the liturgical year.
Symbols for the Triduum Bread and the cup of wine
recall the institution of the Eucharist by Our Lord at the
Last Supper. The cross recalls the crucifixion and death
of Jesus on Good Friday. The Paschal Candle and water
represent the light and new life of Christ's resurrection and
of our baptism.
¿SABÍAS QUE...?
Cuando la cuaresma oficialmente termina el Jueves Santo
por la noche, la Iglesia entra en los tres días más sagrados
de nuestro calendario litúrgico, el Triduo. El Sagrado Triduo
comienza con la Misa de la Cena del Señor en la tarde del
Jueves Santo y termina con la oración de la tarde del
domingo de Pascua. La mejor manera de vivir estos días es
observar el ayuno pascual desde el comienzo del Triduo a
través de la Misa de la Vigilia Pascual, y de tomar parte en
cada una de las liturgias del Triduo.
Jueves Santo es la Liturgia de la última cena del Señor la
noche antes de su muerte. Nosotros celebramos el Sacramento de la Eucaristía y también Orden Sacerdotal. Los
pies se lavaron como Jesús lavó los pies de sus apóstoles
en la Última Cena. Se nos recuerda que estamos llamados
a servicio.
La liturgia del Viernes Santo es sombría y la ausencia de la
Misa es un recordatorio del sufrimiento de Jesús, su muerte
y entierro. La celebración de la Pasión del Señor tiene tres
partes bien diferenciadas: la Liturgia de la Palabra, la
Veneración de la Cruz, y el servicio de la Comunión.
La Vigilia Pascual es la primera celebración de la
Resurrección y la liturgia más alegre de todo el año. En
esta misa, los elegidos son bautizados, confirmados y
reciben la Sagrada Comunión por primera vez, y los
candidatos para la Confirmación y la primera Comunión
reciben estos sacramentos también. Los elegidos y los
candidatos entran en plena comunión con la Iglesia a una
congregación alegre.
El Día de Pascua es una continuación de la celebración de
la resurrección como la comunidad reúne a atestiguar a
nuestra creencia en la resurrección del Señor y a nuestro
destino a ser levantado en el último día.

We are now recycling, and invite the
parish to help us in our efforts to be more
responsible to our planet. There are now
blue recycle containers in the gym, kitchen
and in the Trinity Hall. We have signs
posted to indicate what can be recycled. We would like to
thank those of you that encouraged us to do so.
