Today we commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Today, we listen to – and take part in – the reading of the Passion. I welcome you and invite you to all the special Masses, prayers, and liturgies that make up this Holy Week. But even if coming to all of them is not possible, try to come to at least some of them. I am fairly certain that you will not regret it. May God bless us all. – Fr. Hoppe. HOLY WEEK This is a most solemn week for Catholic Christians and others who believe in Jesus Christ. Monday is called “Reconciliation Monday” (see below). On Thursday, we celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, and include the Mandatum (washing of the feet). Friday (Good Friday) is a day of fast and abstinence, and no Mass is celebrated. Easter joy breaks forth on Saturday evening, at the Easter Vigil. Reconciliation Monday The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance, Confessions) will be available in every Catholic Church in Brooklyn, Queens, and on Long Island on Monday, March 30th, the Monday of Holy Week. The hours when confessions are being heard vary from church to church, but here at St. Leo, the sacrament will be available from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. (with a one hour break from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. for supper). Come and confess your sins to the Lord. Receive His healing mercy and forgiveness. “We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Cor. 5:20).
