i no está familiarizado con las Fallas y pasa por
Valencia entre el 1 y el 19 de marzo, lo primero que
pensará es que sus vecinos están locos. ¿Trabajar
todo un año como esclavos para levantar estos
monumentos que luego el fuego devora la noche
de San José en solo 15 minutos? ¿Dejarse 900.000
euros, como costó la falla de Nou Campanar en 2008 –la
más cara de la historia–, para que acaben reducidos a
cenizas? Pero pregúntele a cualquier valenciano y la locura
le parecerá de lo más normal. Porque esto es Valencia, y
cuando se trata de las Fallas, no se escatiman ni el dinero
ni el esfuerzo. Y tampoco la pólvora. Porque las fallas, que
se ‘plantan’ el 16 de marzo, no estarían completas sin el
ruido y los fuegos artiﬁciales que, desde el día 1, agitan
la ciudad tres veces al día: a las ocho de la mañana con la
despertá; a las dos de la tarde con la mascletà en la Plaza
del Ayuntamiento; y en la medianoche con el castillo, el
espectáculo nocturno de fuegos artiﬁciales. Pólvora, ruido

Work like troopers all year long to build these monuments,
only to be devoured by ﬁre on Saint Joseph’s night in just

ask any Valencian and the craziness will seem completely
normal. Because this is Valencia, and when it comes to

March 16, would not be the same without the noise and
the ﬂames that, from Day 1, rock the city three times a day:
at 8 in the morning with the despertá; at two in afternoon
with the mascletà in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and at

Payo, catalán y sin tradición musical familiar, Miguel
Poveda lo tenía todo en contra para abrirse paso en
el ﬂamenco, un mundo hermético y purista donde la
heterodoxia cotiza a la baja. Pero el talento derriba muros
y, en 1993, ganó la Lámpara Minera, el máximo galardón
del difícil Festival del Cante de las Minas de La Unión
(Murcia). Y de ahí, al cielo. El 17 de marzo lanza nuevo
disco, Sonetos y poemas para la libertad, un proyecto que
ha tardado cinco años en fraguar y del que ya ofreció un
adelanto el 7 de febrero en la gala de los Goya. Arropado
por Pedro Guerra en la composición musical y por el
poeta Luis García Montero en la elección de poemas, el
disco pone música a sonetos de Quevedo, García Lorca,
Borges o Miguel Hernández. «Un sueño hecho realidad»,
en palabras de Pedro Guerra. / Payo (non-Gypsy), Catalan

But talent breaks down barriers and, in 1993, he won

new album, Sonetos y poemas para la libertad, a project
that he has worked on for ﬁve years and from which he
offered a preview at the Goya awards gala on February

poems, the record puts music to the sonnets of Quevedo,

Antonio Díaz is ‘el mago pop’ (the pop
magician). An illusionist whose passion was
born as a boy until it became an obsession
which he has never abandoned: today, at 28,
he has won the National Magic Prize. Mind
you, he has no tricks for when it comes to
packing bags. «I always leave the wash bag
behind! On other hand I’m never without a
deck of cards or my computer. As for the
rest, very little: a small bag so as not to check
in and, if I have to, I buy clothes wherever I’m
going.» One custom, he says, he has acquired
on his frequent travels. «If I’m travelling for
a show, it’s usually a short trip of one or two
days. And I take very little with me. The rest,
everything needed for the show, goes in
trucks.» Nor is the camera a frequent travel
companion: «For the type of photos I take,
the mobile is enough for me.»

Antonio Díaz es ‘el mago pop’. Un ilusionista
cuya pasión nació de niño hasta convertirse
en una obsesión que no lo ha abandonado:
hoy, a sus 28 años, es Premio Nacional de
Magia. Eso sí, no hay truco que le sirva para
acordarse de todo cuando prepara la maleta.
«¡Siempre me dejo el neceser! En cambio,
nunca olvido una baraja y el ordenador. Por
lo demás, poca cosa: bolsa pequeña para no
tener que facturar y, si hace falta, me compro
ropa en el destino». Una costumbre, dice, que
ha adquirido en sus frecuentes viajes. «Si me
muevo para un espectáculo, suele ser un viaje
corto, de uno o dos días. Y llevo muy poca
cosa encima. El resto, lo necesario para el
show viaja en camiones». La cámara tampoco
es una compañera habitual: «Para el tipo de
fotos que hago yo con el móvil me basta».

una comedia, Perdiendo el norte, que
protagoniza. Con una agenda repleta,
está claro que ella no pierde el norte…
ni tiene miedo a perderlo.
¿Qué te llevó a involucrarte en Perdiendo el norte?

mucho y me hacen mucha gracia. Yo
nunca había hecho ese tipo de comedia y me daba un poco de miedo, pero
me apetecía probar y probarme, ver
cómo salía el experimento.
¿Te cuesta soltarte?
En general me cuesta, pero más en la
comedia porque tengo mucho sentido del ridículo. Muchísimo. Me da
miedo pasarme y que, en lugar de
reírse con la película, se rían de mí.
¿Te identiﬁcas con el papel de Carla? ¿Eres la chica seria y responsable
en mitad de la locura de los demás?
Soy un poco sufridora, y sufridora de más [risas]. Sufro por mí y por el
enloquecimiento que puede tener la gente de mi alrededor. Soy un poco
cuadriculada, intento ser organizada, tenerlo todo colocado mentalmente... Pero también hay que saber romper con eso y no sufrir.
Carla, tu personaje en la película, se tiene que marchar de España para
poder trabajar. Al contrario que tú, que no paras…
En lo que se reﬁere a la falta de trabajo, no he sufrido la crisis, pero sí
en cuanto a proyectos que se han caído. Y, además, los sueldos no son lo
que eran, por lo que tienes que adaptarte a la nueva situación... He ido
empalmando unos trabajos con otros. Y si no los he empalmado es por-

que enmedio tenía un mes y aprovechaba para
irme de vacaciones. Desde 2006 que empecé a
trabajar, todo ha cuadrado mágicamente. Hasta es un poco inquietante.
¿Necesitas un respiro?
No. Voy a empezar una serie y estoy con los ensayos, tengo la promoción de la película, estoy
con lecturas para otra película... Tengo 800 cosas. Pero, juntas, ¿cuánto duran?, ¿tres semanas? No te mueres por tres semanas de agobio.
¿Sientes que ha ido todo muy deprisa?

to see how the experiment worked out.
Do you ﬁnd it difficult to try new things?

be organized, have everything ﬁgured out in my
head. But you also have to know how to break
with that and not suﬀer.
Carla, your character in the ﬁlm, has to leave Spain to ﬁnd work. Unlike
you, who never stop...
In terms of the lack of work, I haven’t suﬀered from the recession but
I have in terms of projects that have collapsed. And, what’s more, the
money isn’t what it was, so you have to adapt to the new situation... I’ve
been taking one job after another and if I haven’t it’s because, in between, I had a month to myself and took advantage of it to go on holiday.
Since 2006 when I began working, everything has come together magically, to the extent that it’s little disquieting.
Do you need a break?
No. I’m going to start a series and I’m doing rehearsals, I have the promotion for the ﬁlm, I’m reading other scripts... I’ve got 800 things on
my plate. But, altogether, how long does it last? Three weeks? Three
weeks of stress won’t kill you.
Do you feel that everything has happened very quickly?
A lot of things have happened to me in my life for a 26 year-old. It’s not
just the fact of having started to work and have everything go so well, it’s
also that within this line of work I’ve ended up in some cool places. But
I don’t think everything has happened so quickly.
Do you google yourself?
Sometimes, but for very speciﬁc things. Sometimes what is said about
me isn’t very accurate. Most people aren’t sitting like we are now. They
don’t know you, they haven’t worked with you, they don’t know how you
move, the energy you have.
In autumn you were in New York, shooting My Bakery in Brooklyn. How
was the experience?
It was very enjoyable. We were there for a little over a month. Everyone

bien, también es que dentro de este trabajo he
ido a parar a sitios muy guays. Pero no creo que
haya ido muy deprisa.
¿Te ‘googleas’?
Alguna vez, para cosas muy concretas. A veces
lo que se habla de mi es muy irreal. La mayoría
de gente no está sentada como nosotros ahora.
No te conoce, no ha trabajado contigo, no sabe
cómo te mueves, qué energía tienes…
En otoño estuviste en Nueva York rodando My
Bakery in Brooklyn. ¿Qué tal la experiencia?
Fue muy divertido. Estuvimos un mes y pico.
Todos –director, técnicos y actores–, vivíamos
juntos en un ediﬁcio. Teníamos tiempo libre
para vivir la ciudad, andar, disfrutar y hasta
para aburrirnos... Lo aprovechamos bien.
¿No te dieron ganas de quedarte?
Me volví con ganas de regresar algún día. Es
una ciudad a la que nunca te da pereza ir, te da
energía, te empuja a la calle, pero ya llegaba el
frío y empezaba a ser un poco desagradecido.
¿Qué me recomiendas en Nueva York?
Un restaurante mexicano que se llama La Esquina, al lado del Soho. Menos asequible es
Nobu, pero es ‘el’ restaurante para los que nos
gusta la comida japonesa. Y las hamburguesas
de Shake Shack o el brunch del Cafe Gitane.
¿Qué tipo de viajera eres?
Cada vez me gusta más llamar a mis amigos, coger el coche e irnos el ﬁn de semana. O hablarlo
por la mañana y coger un avión a la hora de co-

ourselves... we really made the most of it.
Did it not make you want to stay?
I came home with a desire to go back some day.
It’s a city you never get tired of visiting, it gives
you energy, it pushes you onto the street but the cold had arrived and it
was starting to become a little unpleasant.
What would you recommend in New York?
A Mexican restaurant called La Esquina, beside SoHo. Nobu is a little
less aﬀordable but it is the restaurant for those of us that like Japanese
food. And the hamburgers at Shake Shack or brunch at Café Gitane.
What type of traveler are you?
Lately, I like make a call to my friends, get in the car and head oﬀ for the
weekend. Or talk about it in the morning and catch a ﬂight at lunchtime. It’s not something to do every day but from time to time. And I
love super-long trips, to go to an island and lose myself.
Any place where you have felt particularly happy?
In the south, Cádiz: Zahara, El Palmar and Tarifa. I’ve also had some
great times in Barcelona, and in Thailand.
After the experience of New York, are you tempted to try your luck in
Hollywood?
Yes, and it’s something that I have on my mind even more now. With

¿Un sitio donde hayas sido especialmente feliz?
En el Sur, en Cádiz: Zahara, El Palmar y Tarifa. Voy alternando los tres
sitios. En Barcelona he vivido cosas muy bonitas, y en Tailandia.
Después de la experiencia en Nueva York, ¿te tienta probar suerte en
Hollywood?
Sí, y es algo que tengo cada vez más presente. Por proyectos y agenda me
podría encajar este año, pero no voy con ninguna meta ni con la idea de
llegar y ‘petarlo’.
Rodaste My Bakery in Brooklyn en inglés. ¿Tienes el idioma controlado?
No, pero estoy segura de que algún día acabaré conseguiéndolo. Y no
necesitas ser bilingüe para rodar. Se trata de estudiar, ponerle ganas, y
trabajo, trabajo, trabajo…
Estás grabando la serie Carlos, Emperador y tienes pendiente de estreno Los nuestros. ¿Hay más ambición y más presupuesto en las series
españolas?
Sí, pero no ha aumentado el presupuesto. Se intenta mejorar con lo que
hay, que ya es mucho. Es una pescadilla que se muerde la cola: hay muchas ganas de hacer cosas que le rompan los esquemas al espectador y,
a la vez, no se terminan de hacer por miedo a que el espectador no las
vea. Aunque poco a poco se va avanzando.
¿Cómo te ves dentro de 20 años?
Me gustaría estar tranquila y seguir trabajando a muerte. Firmaría por
quedarme como ahora con los pequeños cambios naturales que me
dará la vida. Espero vivir millones de cosas y tener hijos.

You’re recording Carlos, Emperador and have
the premiere of Los nuestros coming up. Do
Spanish series have more ambition and a bigger
budget now?
Yes, but there’s no more budget. The idea is to
do better with what there is, which is a lot to
say. It’s a vicious circle: there’s a lot of desire
to do things that break down the preconceptions of the audience and, at the same time,
they don’t get made because of fear that the
audience won’t watch. Although little by little,
things are improving.
How do you see yourself in 20 years?
I’d like to be relaxed and keep working to the
death. I’d sign right now if you oﬀered me a life
like I have now with the small, natural changes
life will give me. I hope to live millions of experiences and have children.

walls, is The Shrine of the Four
Posts, a small temple formed by
four Doric columns. It was here
that, according to tradition, Teresa’s uncle managed to reach

in search of martyrdom and the
glory of the heavens. Teresa,
who was ten, was showing her

Ahumada, Teresa’s father admitted her to be trained at the
Convent of Our Lady of Grace
but illness interrupted her stay.
She returned to her father’s
house and, under the tutelage of
María Briceño, fed her religious
desires. At 20, Teresa enrolled
at the Carmelite Convento de
la Encarnación. To this day the
monastery conserves the locutory she used while she was prioress, her cell and the Capilla
de la Transverberación. There,
beset by illness, Teresa remains
for two decades, ruminating
upon her work: the reform of
the Carmelite order.
In 1554, on the verge of 40,
she began the second stage of
her life. «That of her spiritual,

1562 el Papa Pío IV le concede
su traslado con cuatro monjas al pequeño convento de San
José. Es el inicio de la reforma
del Carmelo. En San José vivió
Santa Teresa entre 1562 y 1567.
El aspecto actual del cenobio es
posterior, pues Felipe III mandó
reconstruirlo, pero la vida cotidiana de las carmelitas que viven
allí es igual que la de Teresa y sus
cuatro novicias. De San José salió a recorrer todos los caminos
de España fundando conventos.
Fueron 16 en veinte años: Ávila,
Medina del Campo, Malagón,
Valladolid, Toledo, Pastrana,
Salamanca, Segovia, Beas de
Segura, Sevilla, Caravaca, Villanueva de la Jara, Palencia, Soria,
Granada, Burgos y Alba de Tormes, en el que falleció el 4 de octubre de 1582 y que hoy conserva
sus restos.
En esta ruta teresiana por Ávila
también vale la pena acercarse a
la iglesia de San Juan Bautista,
donde está la pila en la que fue
bautizada el 7 de abril de 1515; a
la Plaza de Santa Teresa, el lugar
más frecuente de reunión de los
lugareños; al Palacio de Blasco
Núñez Vela, padrino de la santa
y que luego sería virrey del Perú;
y al Centro de Interpretación de
la Mística, que intenta acercar al
visitante el fenómeno del misticismo, del que Santa Teresa de
Jesús –beatiﬁcada en 1614, canonizada en 1622 y nombrada
primera Doctora de la Iglesia
en 1970– fue una de sus ﬁguras

1562, Pope Pius IV gives her
permission to transfer with
four nuns to the small convent
of San José. It is the beginning
of the Carmelite’s reforms.
Santa Teresa lived at San José
between 1562 and 1567. Today,
the monastery’s appearance is
diﬀerent, as Philip III ordered
it to be rebuilt, but the everyday life of the Carmelites living
there is the same as that of Teresa and her four novices. From
San José she left to travel all the
byways of Spain, founding convents. There were 17 in twenty
years: Ávila, Medina del Campo,
Malagón, Valladolid, Toledo,

La Fundación Turismo Palma de Mallorca 365 trabaja desde hace tiempo para posicionar la ciudad como un
referente internacional en la organización de eventos deportivos. El deporte es uno de los productos clave en la
estrategia de promoción del destino, de cara a alargar la
temporada turística, puesto que la capital posee todos los
requisitos para ser un referente atractivo. Palma se identiﬁca y comparte los valores saludables que transmite el
deporte. Por ello, alberga numerosas pruebas deportivas
relevantes, tanto a nivel profesional como amateur, que
ofrecen además la oportunidad de disfrutar de toda la

Bajo el lema Passion for Running, la Fundación ha seleccionado siete eventos vinculados a esta modalidad para
2015, algunos completamente nuevos para la ciudad. En
septiembre, tendrá lugar la Ultra 515 Europe, una carrera
de 515 kilómetros para verdaderos apasionados del deporte extremo, y en noviembre se disputará la K42 TransMallorcaRun, que cubre un total de 400 kilómetros. Pero
además nace la Palma de Mallorca Marathon, heredera de
la TUI Marathon, con la ﬁrme intención de promocionar
el destino, internacionalizar el evento y llevar el nombre
de Palma como ciudad del running a diversas ferias internacionales. Esta prueba, plenamente consolidada, acoge
cada año en el mes de octubre a 12.000 atletas. Asimismo, este mismo mes de marzo se celebra en Palma la 261
Women’s Marathon, que fue presentada en Londres por
Katherine Switzer, la primera mujer que corrió una maratón, en concreto la de Boston, y que ha conﬁrmado su
presencia en la carrera de Palma.
La ciudad acogerá en septiembre el Triatlón Port de Palma;
en noviembre, la Nordic Walking Ciutat de Palma, una
marcha de carácter popular con tres distancias para todos
los niveles de participantes, y la carrera de San Silvestre
Juaneda cerrará el calendario de pruebas de running en
Palma.
Palma se muestra como un destino inigualable, tanto para
el deporte como para actividades alternativas, de forma
que ofrece una amplia oferta durante los meses en que no

gestionar los desplazamientos y las reservas hoteleras de la Administración
pública española durante los próximos
tres años. El concurso, convocado el
pasado mes de noviembre y al que se
presentaron las principales empresas turísticas y de transporte del país,
contempla un presupuesto de cerca de
70 millones de euros anuales.
La resolución del ministerio de Economía señala a Halcón Viajes como

adjudicataria de los cuatro lotes previstos en el concurso. El primero de
ellos, por 26 millones de euros al año,
incluye a los ministerios de Defensa
e Interior, junto a otros organismos
subsidiarios. El segundo, cifrado en
15 millones, abarca los ministerios
de Economía, Industria y Hacienda, y
organismos como el ICEX, CIEMAT o
MUFACE. El tercero, por importe de 14
millones, engloba Asuntos Exteriores,
Presidencia, Educación y Justicia. Por
último, el lote 4, con un presupuesto

ENTRE LAS ISLAS BALEARES
Air Europa comenzará a operar sus vuelos interislas el próximo
día 1 de mayo. Las nuevas rutas unirán el aeropuerto de Palma
de Mallorca con los de Mahón e Ibiza seis veces por día y serán
operadas por aviones turbohélice ATR 72, de fabricación
europea, con una capacidad de 68 plazas. Tal como anunció
el presidente de Globalia, Juan José Hidalgo, el pasado mes
de diciembre, «se ha procurado, en función de los slots
disponibles, ofrecer un servicio eﬁcaz, cómodo y ﬂexible, que
favorezca tanto los viajes de negocio como los vacacionales».
Así, el primer vuelo de la mañana saldrá de Mahón a las 7
en punto, mientras el de Ibiza lo hará a las 7:35. Los últimos
vuelos del día despegarán de Palma hacia Mahón a las 20:55
horas de la tarde y de Palma a Ibiza a las 21 horas. / Air Europa

Recuperar las funciones de los dientes y su estética. Ese es el cometido de las prótesis dentales, un campo de la odontología que ha experimentado enormes avances gracias a los nuevos
materiales de restauración.
La última revolución ha sido la aparición del
disilicato de litio para la creación de puentes
y prótesis dentales. Un material que iguala el
color exacto de los dientes naturales y que pasa
totalmente inadvertido, superando ampliamente las expectativas estéticas de los pacientes y aportando, además, beneﬁcios funcionales, de resistencia y adaptabilidad.
El disilicato de litio es un material cerámico de
alta resistencia producido a partir de un proceso de cristalización del vidrio a través de calor.
Por sus propiedades estéticas, físicas y mecánicas, las coronas elaboradas con este material
están indicadas en la rehabilitación con puentes ﬁjos que incluyan hasta tres o cuatro dientes
y en coronas individuales. Y los estudios cientíﬁcos lo avalan: su tasa de éxito ronda el 90 por
ciento a nueve años.
Para el diseño y elaboración de las piezas se
emplean sistemas CAD-CAM que permiten
diseños y mecanizados asistidos por ordenador
de gran precisión… ¡y sin encarecer el proceso!
Emplear disilicato de litio permite utilizar productos adhesivos entre el diente y la restauración, consiguiendo un sellado perfecto y una
estética de diez. Otra ventaja es que disminuye
la proliferación de bacterias en la zona –lo que
evita el enrojecimiento y sangrado de las encías– y que el cuidado de estas prótesis es similar es similar al de los dientes naturales.
