Almighty God, My parish family is composed of people
like me. I help make it what it is. It will be friendly, if I
am. Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do
great work, if I work. It will make generous gifts to many
causes, if I am a generous giver. It will bring other
people into its worship and fellowship, if I invite and
bring them. It will be a parish family of loyalty and love,
of fearlessness and faith, and a parish with a noble spirit,
if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same
qualities.
Therefore, with the help of God, I will dedicate myself to
the task of being all the things that I want my parish
family to be. Bless my journey, Lord God, that I might
build the Church through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Lectura del libro de la Sabiduría
Las almas de los justos están en las manos de Dios y
no los alcanzará ningún
tormento. Los insensatos
pensaban que los justos
habían muerto, que su salida de este mundo era una
desgracia y su salida de
entre nosotros, una completa destrucción. Pero los
justos están en paz. La gente pensaba que sus sufrimientos eran un castigo,
pero ellos esperaban confiadamente la inmortalidad.
Después de breves sufrimientos recibirán una
abundante recompensa,
pues Dios los puso a prueba y los halló dignos de sí.
Los probó como oro en el
crisol y los aceptó como un
holocausto agradable. En el
día del juicio brillarán los
justos como chispas que se
propagan en un cañaveral.
Juzgarán a las naciones y

The Catholic Adult Singles Association of Marin is a group of 50+ single
or single again Catholics who are interested in making new friends, taking
part in social activities, sharing opportunities for spiritual growth and becoming involved in volunteer projects
that will benefit our parishes, our
community, and one another. We
welcome those who are interested.

Make a point to come in your birthday month, and we will all help you
celebrate and get to know everybody.

months is a charitable work of mercy
for many in our midst unable to care
for themselves. Suggested items:
cans of vegetables, fruit, soup, tomatoes/tomato products; meats, meat
products, tuna fish; peanut butter;
dried beans, rice, pasta; cereal; chili
and other prepared foods. Those items
necessary to prepare a nutritious meal. No
perishables. Brown Bags are needed.
The St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room is in desperate need of athletic white socks for the homeless who
they feed at the Dining Room. Donations may be put in the food baskets.

are called in a special way to
remember all those who have gone
before us in faith. The custom of
remembering the dead dates back to
the earliest periods of our history.
During pre-Christian times, it was
common for pagans to celebrate rituals
related to their dead at the end of the
harvest in late fall. This custom
probably influenced the early Christian
communities to do the same. This
year we have the wonderful
opportunity to celebrate the liturgy of
All Souls Day over the first weekend
of November. This weekend, we
examine the significance of the day
and the traditions about All Souls
Day.
All Souls Day also has its roots in the
ancient times of our Church.
Memorials to those who have died
have been held throughout the earliest
days of our world. In 998, Abbot Odo
of Cluny ordered all the monasteries
under his authority to celebrate a
memorial of all the faithful departed
on November 2nd. This
commemoration quickly spread
throughout the world and was added
to the Church calendar in the 13th
century. In Latin American cultures,
rituals to remember the dead also date
back to the earliest time. Rituals
include creating beautiful altars
honoring those who have died.
Besides displaying pictures, other
familiar items were included on the
altar including the deceased favorite
items and food as well as beautiful
decorations.
In our Church you will see visibly our
call to pray for all those who have
gone before us in faith. In both the
Church and the Mission, you are
invited to add the names of family
members or friends whom you would
like remembered in prayer in our Book
of Life. In the Church, you will see a
large banner hanging from the choir
loft. Inscribed on the banner are the
names of members of our parish family
who have passed away over the last

items remind us of the need to pray for
our brothers and sisters who have gone
before us in faith as well as their
families and friends who still grieve
