ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
FIRST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH Starts March 6, 2015
Just as the sun is the source of all energy and warmth, so is the Blessed Sacrament the source of all grace and
love in the life of the Catholic. Jesus longs for our visits to Him in the Blessed Sacrament. Here He waits for us
with all the affection of His Sacred Heart.
When we come to Him in the Blessed Sacrament, we come to Bethlehem...because the Eucharist is the
continuation of Christ’s Incarnation on earth.
When we come to the Blessed Sacrament, we come to Calvary...because the Eucharist is the gift of our Lord’s
Passion.
When we come to the Blessed Sacrament...we come to the Resurrection...because the Eucharist is Our Risen
Lord with all the power of His Resurrection flowing out to all who come into His Presence - strengthening the
weak, comforting the afflicted, encouraging the depressed, enlightening the confused and healing the broken-hearted. The Blessed Sacrament is the “love” which surpasses all knowledge” that St. Paul speaks of...and it
is the throne of grace and mercy where “we can speak freely to God, drawing us near to Him with confidence
- because the power at work that “can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine”, is the mystery and plan
of God .
We thank our Lord for continuing to empty himself in the humility of this Sacrament. Taking the form of the
Sacred Host appearing before us in the likeness of bread, and obediently accepting a state even more humble
than humanity itself to nourish us always in the Eucharist with the fullness of his Divinity.
What a great price Jesus paid to be our Eucharistic Companion! He was willing to die on the cross, to become
for us the Living Bread from Heaven. And here he embraces us and fills us with every consolation. Here...is
where he transform us and makes us a new creation. Please make plans to join us on First Fridays starting in
Lent so we all may be one in him through the Eucharist, proclaiming together that “Jesus is Lord.”
Eucharistic Adoration will start on First Friday March 6, 2015 from 5:30pm-6:30pm in our Church. Adoration
on First Fridays will continue throughout the year at the same time. Please consider spending one hour with
Our Lord each week and see how He will transform and bless your life! Thank you for reading...Deacon Pat
Necerato.

RCIA: The Rite of Sending...
Across the entire world, Catholic bishops welcome
those catechumens sent by the parish to gather
together with their godparents and sponsors in what
is known as the Rite of Election. Today we celebrate
The Rite of Sending, which offers the parish
community an opportunity to acknowledge the
spiritual progress the catechumens and candidates
have made, express approval of their election or
recognition, and send them forth to our bishop with
assurance of the parish’s care and support.
Please join us in welcoming the following people who
will celebrate the Rite of Sending today:

2015 DDF
Annual Appeal
The DDF (Diocesan Development Fund)
What is the DDF and what does it do…
The DDF provides a source of finance and funding for expenditures in
the works of the Church and provides funds for welfare and pastoral
programs in the Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino.
The Diocesan Development Fund (DDF) is our opportunity to
support the work of the Church in San Bernardino and Riverside
counties and with your generous donations to the DDF we can support
over 40 ministries and programs that are offered by the diocese. These
are ministries that no one parish could sustain alone and are
imperative to fulfilling our mission of filling people's lives with hope.
This vision will be developed in those areas of greatest concern to us:
•
Youth Evangelization
•
Unity in diversity
•
Stewardship of resources •
Leadership
•
Organizational structures
The 2015 Diocesan Development Fund reminds us who we really are…
that we are to grow beyond ourselves and join the community of
faithful dedicated to serving others and called everyday to be His
disciple. By sharing our gifts and ourselves, we can really make a
difference in living out our mission of discipleship. Please join us in
being as generous as you can…you can receive a donation envelope at
the end of Mass and you can return it to us through the church office…
please see one of representatives outside of the church…thanks and
blessings to you and your family.
Ministry & Parish Updated Information
Blessing of Ministers; On the fourth weekend of each month a ministry will be selected to be recognized at all

required or obligated to give money or donations of any kind to persons asking after Mass.

The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and Contemporary World
Thank you for taking part in the survey for the Synod of Bishops: The Vocation and mission of the Family in the Church
and contemporary world. Your involvement is important and appreciated.
Before you proceed with taking the survey, it is very important that you have read the Lineamenta [the working document]
of the Synod that will take place in October 2015. A separate link to this document can be found here on the diocesan web
site. After you have read the Lineamenta, please respond to the questions in one of the two surveys linked on the diocesan
web site and submit them before 20 February, 2015. If you feel you cannot answer each question, please submit the responses that you did give.
As you fill out this questionnaire, don’t lose sight that it follows a process that should be respected: the first part is “Listening” and is oriented toward a description of the situation of the family in our world today; the second part is “Looking
at Christ” and is oriented toward a reflection on what the Gospel teaches us about the family; and the third part is “Confronting the situation” which inquires about the pastoral initiatives and political actions that we should promote in order
to improve the situation of families. Therefore, as you answer each question, please follow this methodology by taking into
account the part of th e questionnaire in which you are working.
Again thank you for your contribution to this important topic in our Church, today.
In Christ,
Rev. Rafael Partida
Episcopal Vicar, Riverside Pastoral Region

Rev. Rafael Partida
Vicario Episcopal, Región Pastoral de Riverside
Reflecting on God’s Word
I suspect that the real reason we avoid the desert is because in all that
monotony there are no hiding places, no paths to crawl our way behind some kink of hill, no busyness that allows us to duck beneath the
rippling surface of honesty, no phone calls to undo the silence that
echoes our real selves. Curious that we should be afraid of the nothing rather than of the something. Yet it is the nothing, in the end,
that makes the revelation happen. Such is the unsettling power of any
desert, to reveal what we most fear in life, the real self that is perhaps
less known and more imposing than anyone else’s self. Deserts do
that, and so we avoid them like kids dancing about their homework.
Over the years we learn that it’s safer to fritter about on the fringe of
Lent than to get lost in its vast and desert emptiness. We’ve grown
good at frittering, at tinkering with days stripped of television or
meals that have surrendered their dessert. This frittering goes on simply because when it’s all over and done we are able to go back to the
lives we’ve come to enjoy and treasure and nothing has been redone,
least of all our real selves.
Jesus, however, risked the desert. Never just a tinkerer, he dared to
trek about the emptiness for forty days and nights. This week’s first
scripture is a piece from Noah’s tale in the bobbing ark. Thus we
might wonder which desert was more daunting, forty days and nights
of Noah’s deluge or of Jesus’ drought. Yet both found themselves
in new and different worlds, neither of which had ever before been
mapped.
