That time of year again!
Those of you who have been reading the Bulletin for the past couple of weeks cannot have missed the inserts about Our
Catholic Appeal.
The letters OCA can strike fear into the heart of many a pastor as we face the need to once again ask our people to reach out
to the larger diocesan community and be generous with their resources. But I don’t really think that it should be something
to dread; rather we can look at it as an opportunity to ask our people to once again put into action the faith that they clearly
hold so deeply.
Most of the year priests try to encourage their flock to practice the faith that brings them to the church week after week.
And most of the time we have no real way of seeing how that works out in the real world. Once our parishioners leave the
church we aren’t there to look over their shoulders to make sure that they are living what they say they believe. But when
we come to OCA we have a concrete way of seeing that the Faith does make a difference in the lives of those we try to serve.
I don’t want for a second to suggest that a person’s faith can be measured by the size of their donations – the Lord made
that perfectly clear when he commented on the penny put into the Temple Treasury by the poor widow. But I can say that it
touches me deeply to see the more than generous donations made by people whom I know to be struggling financially.
The money raised by OCA goes to fund many vital activities of our Diocese. One very obvious one is the support given to
our seminarians. Almost 25% of all the money raised will go to support those generous enough to offer their lives to the
Church. And it is desperately needed. Did you know that the average age of a priest in the Diocese of Orlando is over 60?
We are blessed with 35 young men pursuing a vocation for this Diocese – we need to show them that their sacrifices are appreciated.
Another major area is Catholic Education – both in Catholic Schools and in CCD programs for our youth and those who so
willingly give of their time to help them grow in the Faith which means so much to us.
Every year since I have been Pastor of St. Ann we have exceeded our goal. This clearly shows your willingness to play a part
in the life of the Church, supporting the many programs which are so necessary if we are to grow as the People of God in
Central Florida.
This year our goal is just over $124K. Relying on the very clear evidence of your past generosity I ask you once again to support OCA in any way that you possibly can. Let us, as a community, show that we are conscious of belonging to a larger reality – the Diocese of Orlando and the Universal Catholic Church.
May the Lord reward your generosity a hundredfold.
God Bless, Fr. Robert.

Broken hearts? Don´t worry, you are there, for them, in the name of Jesus. Go and preach with the testimony of your
life.
Dear brothers and sisters. There are many reasons to be happy all the time. But, we also have many needs. And some of
those needs, should be taken care of. Anyhow, how many real needs we have? It depends of course. Each person has a particular
and unique history. In our days, some people are suffering because maybe they didn’t have the possibility to find the proper solution of their needs. Their hearts are broken. The Lord said: “wherever is your treasure, then, there will be your heart”. The
Church is teaching constantly about what is really important in our life. Sadly, not all of us are ready to accept its teaching. People get confused about what is important for life, and what wishes come from selfishness. In other words, the only one who can
fix the life of human being is God with his love.
In the first reading, Job is saying many very sad things, as people normally do when their hearts are broken. And he was
right. He had been suffering very hard experiences. In some way, Jesus is in his prayers and sorrows. Who has the answer? Why
did it happen to me? And God looks on completely in silence. Then arise the prophets with the good news of faith, hope and
love. And their mission is to heal the broken hearts of the people, with compassion and kindness and proclaiming the Gospel.
Similarly, in the second reading there is the Apostle Paul, working for free, but so happy. His payment is to announce
the Word of the Lord to the people with passion and integrity, because it is his duty that he accepted in freedom. That means
more that some kind of payment. It is the satisfaction of preaching, serving and spreading the catholic faith through the Gospel
for the salvation of the world praising the living God.
Many people like Job are looking for the Good News of the Lord. Many priests, like Saint Paul, are proclaiming the
wonders of the Living God. And God is always taking care of his people. The community can believe that the Lord is working
through his servants, the priests, in the Church. So, let us go to the Church, to celebrate and honor the goodness of the Lord who
fixes our hearts with his love and compassion. Let us prepare our lives listening carefully to the Gospel and learning how to
apply his message today at home. Let us accept our own mission, as an instruments of peace, healing with sensitivity and tenderness, with lovely words and good actions the lives of all the people, because it is Jesus Christ who lives in them, starting with
those whose lives we share and need to see Jesus through us. Remember: there are people near to you with their hearts broken.
Don´t worry, you are there, for them and not only for yourself. In the name of Jesus, go and preach with the testimony of your
life.

OUR CATHOLIC APPEAL 2015—Do Everything for the Glory of
God St. Paul reminds us to “do everything for the glory of God.”
Our parish strives to glorify God daily through our ministries, but
we are only the starting point. Being Catholic means being part
of a larger family of faith. Because we are all one in Christ, it is
only right that we help His work to flourish in our neighboring
communities. Our Catholic Appeal mobilizes our entire diocesan family to support ministries that benefit far more people
than we could ever reach alone.
You can visit www.cfocf.org/oca to learn more about the lifechanging impact of your gifts.
If you have already received a pledge form in the mail, please
complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass with you next
weekend. If you did not receive a mailing or have not had time
to respond, please help our parish by making your gift at Mass
next weekend or the following weekend.
Our parish goal is $122,285.00 Once we achieve this goal, the
majority of the additional funds will be returned to our parish to
support our own special needs, including the Church loan for the
expansion of the Church and the Grove.
Thank you for your generosity!

¡Totalmente pagado!
detenemos a contemplarlas.

A Diferencia a Otras Vocaciones
